Epilogue 44
"She's waking up Sire," Terrance says. His voice is overly loud and Mori shrinks away from it.
"Mori?" Nocturne's voice is little more than a whisper and Mori is able to tolerate it far more than Terrance's voice.
She likes the dark though and doesn't want to wake up. She thought her friend death was going to take her this time. She was sure that she wouldn't see Nocturne again.
Nocturne, the babies, Vena. Mori opens her eyes. "Are you going to kill me now?"
Nocturne looks at her in shocked confusion. "Mori, why would I have my mate killed?"
"Vena used that word to describe a woman of his too. I killed him Nocturne," Mori can't help the smirk. "I told you vampire's are easy to kill."
Nocturne strokes her hair and sighs. "Yes, you did say that multiple times. But Mori you're not human anymore. So you can say that killing vampire's is easy for other vampire's."
Mori closes her eyes and gives a slight shake of her head. "Vampire's are born not made Nocturne. You can't turn a human, even you said that."
Nocturne smirks, "Well, I guess where you come in the rules are out the window. Humans can't be turned to vampire's, yet you are. There are no female vampire's yet there is you and now our daughter. I've seen both our children Mori and they are beautiful. You are truly worthy to be queen of the vampires. Killing my number one enemy will ensure that."
"I killed a vampire, the rules state that I must die." Mori tries again.
"You killed a traitor in defense of your life and that of my children, the only thing I might execute you for is taking away all the fun things I had planned for that bastard. There is actually a substantial reward for killing my brother. You now have a couple more estates added to your properties."
"I don't understand," Mori slurs too tired to figure out what exactly Nocturne means.
Nocturne smiles and says, "Sleep Mori, we'll talk when you are more awake."
"Nocturne? Nocturne? What is going on?" Mori wakes up scared. She hadn't planned on waking up at all but something's different now and she's very scared.
"Mori, it's alright. I'm right here. Shh, everything will be alright," Nocturne says pulling her in his arms. Mori settles back down on the bed and allows herself to be pulled up tight next to Nocturne.
"Is my execution going to be public Nocturne? Is that why I'm still alive?" Mori asks. She's no longer scared, even if Nocturne is to execute her she feels safe in his arms.
"There will be no execution Mori. My brother was a traitor and therefore lost the protection of the law about killing vampires. And before you go and brag about how easy it is to kill us you need to understand that you are no longer human, you've turned." Nocturne tries to calm Mori down even more.
"How is that possible?" Mori is at a loss. She vaguely remembers him saying something like that before but didn't understand him then and doesn't now.
"Somehow by drinking my blood, Terrance's blood and the blood of the other donors it was enough to turn you. Perhaps because of Terrance's and mine abilities to heal, perhaps because of the bond we don't know, but somehow something that was supposedly nothing more than fiction has become fact. Check your canines, they are longer than they were, you'll need to be careful for awhile while getting used to the change. Good news you won't have to eat the human food any more. Bad news you will now need to drink blood on a regular basis." Nocturne smiles as he says all this not sure how she'll take all this.
"So when I killed your brother so easily, it was because I was already a vampire?" Mori is disappointed.
Nocturne laughs at her pouting. "No, you hadn't fully turned yet, you were technically still a human. But I am a bit peeved that I won't be able to use the special treatments I've been saving up for him. However, it pleases me to no end that you were able to take down one of the most dangerous vampires to ever have lived. There won't be any to argue about you being fit for the position of queen.
"I'll be taking you to court and officially presenting you when you feel better. Probably after you feed in the morning. I'll be presenting my, I mean our, children at that time. The rumors about there being a female vampire are already spreading like wildfire." Nocturne smiles happily. Mori has already shaken up the court. When they face the court he can't wait to see what happens.
"You say that I'm vampire, and you say that I'm your queen. What exactly does that mean?"
"I recognize you as my mate before all the vampire. You now being one will make things even easier on you."
"That's not what I meant Nocturne." Nocturne knew exactly what she meant but didn't want to answer that question.
"I'm not going to be with anyone else Mori." Mori smiles.
"Then what about all the females at your estates? What are they going to be there for?"
Nocturne lifts himself up and looks at her in disbelief. "You want me to not be with them? Or have them in the houses?"
"I won't believe you in your declarations if you keep them. The choice is yours Nocturne. I'm good staying here. You only stayed here because of the children I was carrying and that bond. Which by the way isn't there any more," Mori replies honestly.
Nocturne is angry, "You think that is the reason why I remained with you?"
Mori looks at him straight, "I know it is."
"At first maybe it was. But ..." Nocturne hesitates and Mori raises her eyebrow.
"I'll get rid of the women Mori. I want you by my side wherever I have to go. And I sure as hell want that bond back. If you hadn't cut that damn bond I would've known you were in labor and needing me there. I would have known that my brother had broken through."
"You knew, you just got here too late to deal with him," Mori replies. "But as far as the bond goes, it seems to be a variation of a blood bond. If you really want I can redo the bond."
"You are kidding right? Please reset the bond," Nocturne is all but pleading.
Mori looks at him in confusion, "Why?"
Nocturne takes a deep breath, "Because Mori, I love you."
