Mori wakes to the smell of food being cooked and the heavy weight of Nocturne's arm around her. She manages to shove Nocturne's arm off and rush to the bathroom before losing her stomach contents.
"Lady Mori, will she not be joining us for breakfast?" The female from the diner asks Nocturne in confusion and fear. Nocturne had given both she and her husband orders last night when he returned quite late with Mori.
"She will most likely need food when she's done. This pregnancy has been difficult for her." Nocturne tries soothing the woman but not too hard. The woman responds by turning back to her cooking and doing her best to ignore the naked vampire king as he stands and walks to the bathroom.
The man from the diner quietly joins his wife and stays as close as he can to do what he can to protect her, although there is little he can legally do.
Nocturne knows without looking what is going on and smirks to himself, but once Mori opens the door the smirk is gone. She returns to brushing her teeth and washing the tears from her face. "Stop messing with the humans Nocturne."
The two humans don't act any differently pretending not to hear the female ordering the vampire king around. They are however, glad for her interference if it works.
"Mori..." Nocturne starts but Mori interrupts him.
"I need blood Nocturne, if you want me to eat human food I'll need some blood first." She's never asked for it first, it has been a secondary food for her.
This time when Nocturne speaks he's worried, "Mori, are you sure?"
"I'm sure Nocturne. The smell of the food I used to love is beyond nauseating right now. I need blood or I won't be able to touch the food.
"And you need to stop teasing the humans. You said that since they are in the valley they are under my care," Mori states.
More than a little petulant Nocturne replies, "Yes, but teasing them is so much fun. Almost as much fun as..."
"Nocturne, what did I say about games last night? Do you need another lesson? Perhaps you think that hunting me in daylight will go better for you?" Mori looks at him with narrowed eyes.
Nocturne's eyes actually open wide almost as if he was afraid. "You really think you could elude me for more than an hour in the daylight?" He asks the question but already knows the answer and he's not sure she isn't correct.
Mori's smile is as wicked as his own. "I know I can. I believe we were going to have a hunting game. After we both eat, unless you have other duties, I propose that that we play it. Also you will need to let this couple get on with their honeymoon. I won't have them stay here any longer than absolutely necessary."
Nocturne's eye's close half way and a smile slinks onto his face. "Fine by me."
"I have rules about how close to the cabin the animals can be hunted." Mori says shoving her way past Nocturne.
"Set whatever rules you like Mori, just as long as you are expected to follow them as well." Nocturne says sarcastically.
Mori stops and faces him with anger and hisses, "I'm not the one that lies and cheats KING!"
By now both Mori and Nocturne have forgotten about the human couple watching in terror.
The woman is brought back to her surroundings when the eggs start to burn. She hurriedly takes them off the stove as well as the other food that is cooking.
"Nocturne, Lady Mori, I believe you are terrifying these two," Jerus says inhaling deeply.
"Damn he smells almost as good as Lady Mori. Might I be permitted to partake from him Nocturne?" Jerus says becoming almost intoxicated with the man's smell.
The man in question jumps and cuts himself with the knife he'd been holding. Making three sets of eyes turn to and focus directly on him.
Jerus has already started moving and is almost to the man before Nocturne speaks. "I'm afraid not Jerus. Someone of his caliber tests the strength of the strongest of us to not lose control and Mori has declared them off limits."
"I think I could eat now." Mori whispers out through dry lips and a suddenly dry mouth. "Especially if..." She stops herself from completing her sentence.
But for once the bond seems to be working for Nocturne. "Perhaps human food wouldn't be so hard to eat if you added blood to it, like catsup." Nocturne smiles a not particularly nice smile.
"Jerus, you're losing control didn't you eat before coming here?" Nocturne says harshly to the other vampire.
"Yes, but when there is such delectable treats here it's hard to resist." Jerus says inhaling again and closing his eyes in ecstasy.
"Jerus get out NOW!" Nocturne orders and finds himself in front of the man protecting him.
"Yes, My King." Jerus replies sullenly as he leaves the cabin looking at the man the entire time with desire.
The man falls to his knees, "Thank you master."
Nocturne bends down and lifts the man's down turned head. "You can thank Lady Mori."
In the end Nocturne feeds from both the man and his wife. The wife first to avoid killing the man when he feeds from him.
Mori manages to eat fairly easily with the smell of their blood in the air with the food. When she pushes away her empty plate she makes sure that Nocturne hasn't killed the man. "Enough Nocturne. You've taken too much between yesterday and today. Leave him be."
Nocturne reluctantly lets the man go and to be on the safe side gives him just a few swallows of his blood.
Mori just about rips the man from Nocturne's arms at that. The man is too faint to understand what is going on and the woman cowers now in fear.
"Mori, calm down." Nocturne doesn't like how aggressive Mori has become.
He slits his wrist and offers it to her and she latches onto it like a child to a mothers teat. "Mori?"
"Mori?" Nocturne asks repeating himself trying to get her to let go. The wound has closed but Mori hasn't let go and is gnawing on his wrist trying to get more blood.
Nocturne uses pressure points to get her to let go of his arm and pull it away.
Mori looks like she's about ready to attack him again for more blood. "Mori I thought you wanted to prove how much of a superior hunter you are to me today?"
His words and lack of flowing blood bring Mori back to herself.
She looks at the naked vampire in front of her, "I do, but you might want to dress more appropriately for the game." She holds in her snigger.
Nocturne smiles and caresses her slightly bloody cheek, "Oh, I'm not the only one love."
Mori hadn't even realized that she's been eating and sitting butt bare naked this whole time. She doesn't even blush when she realizes it. She just looks at herself and nods.
"Yes, I'll be ready in ten minutes or so. What about them?" She gestures to the two weak humans.
"They should be fine after resting for a bit then they will be free to go." Nocturne goes over to the couple and they cower in fear.
He smirks at them both until Mori growls, "Nocturne."
"Look at me! When you leave this cabin you will remember none of what has happened. You will finish your honeymoon, the time you lost will be you went camping in the forest on Lady Mori's land with her permission. You will not remember seeing me or knowing me. Nocturne is a vampire of low status that is attached to the king's court as a wannabe. But right now he has the king's favor and so was awarded this valley." The couple both nod with their blank stares. Once Nocturne is sure that the compulsion has taken he lets it go.
"You should get ready Lord Nocturne," Mori says respectfully already dressed for the game.
Nocturne gives her a look of anger which she returns with a look of innocence. Then she pointedly looks at the humans. Nocturne's anger diminishes but doesn't leave completely.
He makes a gesture and he's dressed for hunting and they leave the cabin together. "Aren't you going to need weapons to kill your game?" Nocturne asks in curiosity as she leaves with just a hunting knife in hand.
"I don't keep my main weapons in the cabin. Don't worry, I'll still get more than you. And it will go by poundage rather than amount of kills. No killing closer than the springs. Do you know the clearing..."
"The same one with traces of blood, old blood in it and lots of it? Yes, I know which clearing you mean." Nocturne says breaking in her speech.
Mori barely narrows her eyes at his rudeness as she continues, "That's where we will take our kills. I'll take the east side and you take the west. Damn what's he doing here?" Mori finishes speaking as Jerus walks up to them.
"Jerus, what are you doing here?" Nocturne asks a bit more diplomatically than Mori had just uttered.
"I was told by Lord Terrance to come this morning as my blood might be needed." Jerus says his head down in shame. He had lost control in the cabin and had defied the first order by his king.
Nocturne closes his eyes trying for patience. "I see. Well your blood isn't needed at this time. Perhaps this evening. The humans will be leaving shortly and I don't want you here when they do, do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, Nocturne. I'll be on my way." Lord Jerus leaves just like that.
