"How.." Nocturne says instead of saying what he had planned to say. He doesn't even know what words he was going to say after how. She came back, that's all that matters to him. She came back evading ten of his best trackers and finding out that there is a traitor among them.
"I heard two of them talking. One walked away not wanting anything to do with his treason, but the other is planning on betraying you." Mori says refusing to give away her location at the time of the talking.
"Do you know the name of the one willing and eager to betray me?" Nocturne asks a cruel smile sliding into place.
"Yes, the one that walked away called him Dvis I believe." Mori replies.
"Ah, the one that lost your scent. I knew he was lying." Nocturne says almost to himself.
"Um, no he wasn't. He did lose my scent. I made sure of it." Mori is more than a little frustrated with Nocturne at this point. She risked her life to bring him this information and he's just standing there doing nothing.
"How? You know never mind keep your secrets." Nocturne slowly steps towards Mori. "I'm sorry, Mori. I shouldn't have hit you. I even promised I wouldn't and I did. I hope you will forgive me."
Mori looks at him. "Are you asking or telling me to forgive you? Because the way you said it it sounded like you are telling me to. Not that it should matter to you if I forgive you or not. I mean you are the king, it doesn't matter if you are loved or hated right? I'm nothing to you but the one you are unfortunately bonded with."
Nocturne actually winces at her words. They say the truth hurts and in this minute those words are extremely painful. "I hope that one day you will, I can't order you to do so. I am asking and hoping that I didn't mess everything up."
Nocturne rolls up his shirt sleeve and rips his wrist, "I know you are still angry with me, but you still need to eat. Please?" He offers her his wrist.
Mori is still angry with him but the smell of his blood overcomes her desires to stay away from him. Nocturne had intentionally made the wound deep so that she may take a great deal of his blood. He'll be drinking vampire blood this night as well.
"Come I will take you to the village diner for your human food. You still need to eat that." Nocturne says as his wrist finishes healing. He's disturbed at just how much she's acting like a vampire. He wants her to eat more human food and less blood.
Mori nods and changes clothes while Nocturne communicates with the other vampire's. "It won't take me long, but there is something I must do before we leave." Mori nods her understanding.
"There's a cave about 300 yards from the springs if you go North. You should be able to hold him there. Hopefully the villagers have followed my instructions and aren't trespassing elsewhere on my land." Mori says giving him a place to hold his prisoner once he's captured. "It's good that you plan on capturing him yourself. He doesn't think you can. It's part of why he thinks you've gone soft."
Nocturne chuckles and it isn't a pleasant sound. "He thinks my brother is a better candidate for king because he thinks I've gone soft. Well we'll see how he feels about that tonight. It looks like I will be keeping you up again tonight." Nocturne takes her chin gently in his hands. His tone is apologetic.
"This time I understand. He can't be allowed to escape." Mori says softly knowing the words are true but not liking them.
Nocturne sighs. "Who do you want to stay with you tonight?"
"Who are my choices? I only know three other vampires and one of them made me sick when I ate from him." Mori says dryly. She isn't liking the idea of what will happen tonight. "You know what? Let's not go to the diner. As hungry as I am it won't matter, I'll just throw everything up any way."
Nocturne is shaking his head. "I won't be as vicious in his punishment. Jerus might even be able to distract you enough for you to not be sick. Your other choice is of course Terrance. He might bore you enough to distract you."
"You really don't mind when Jerus touches me?" Mori asks in a whisper thin voice.
"Oh, I mind alright, but it's better than the alternative. The less you see of my darker side the less I'll corrupt you. And Mori a light like yours shouldn't be darkened." Nocturne says caressing her face.
"You're full of bullshit Nocturne." Mori says with only a touch of hostility marking her voice.
"You seem to be able to read my mind Mori, although I have no idea how the hell you can do that, so read it now." Nocturne doesn't like her demeaning herself like that although he knows he didn't help any, first having her be with Jerus and then, hitting her like he did. He rarely wishes for different talents but he wishes he had the ability to travel back in time and stop himself from hitting her.
Mori shakes her head. "I can't read your thoughts all the time. The strongest ones are the easiest and the most difficult to ignore. Which as far as I'm concerned is all for the better. Better send me Jerus, perhaps this time I won't be subjected to your feelings. The animosity towards Dvis isn't nearly as strong as it was towards those you punished last night." Nocturne gives Mori a small bow of acknowledgement.
"Terrence will be here shortly then I'll be off hunting. When I get back from hunting we'll go to the diner, but if he manages to elude me for too long fix something. And that is an order Mori. You've gone too long without human food." Nocturne says making her look him in the eyes.
Mori rolls her eyes, "Yes, dad. I ate some food I had stashed. But I am getting hungry. I think a nice juicy steak sounds really good. I don't really want venison, but I will cut me a steak from what I hunted the other day if you don't come back within the hour. Really, Nocturne I won't think much of you if you can't find that bastard within that amount of time."
Nocturne snorts, "Oh you think you can do better?"
"I know I could. Of course I don't have the advantages you vampire's have so it might take me a bit longer than an hour, but not much. I'm just not able to capture one since you all have that damn strength, it's like you all are on steroids or something." Mori says that last almost bitterly.
Nocturne replies almost purring, "Well I'll have to go hunting with you one of these days and you'll have to show me. We'll go during the day so that will negate some of the superior abilities I have over you."
Mori shrugs and shakes her head. "I've gotten all the meat I will need for sometime to come. I refuse to hunt and let the meat go to waste."
"It won't go to waste. Anything we get will be given to the villagers that might want it. If there is still some left then I'll send it to my other estates for use. Will that work?" Nocturne refutes her.
Mori lets a smirk come onto her face. "Are you sure you are willing to let a mere human beat you king?"
"If you can beat me you can ask anything from me and I'll give it to you." Nocturne replies.
Mori snorts, "Yeah, sure. You say that now but when it comes time to pay up..."
"If I lose, I'll pay. That's a promise Mori." Nocturne is more than a little offended that she doubts him.
"Yeah, just like you promised you wouldn't hit me." Mori holds up her hand, "Show me Nocturne, don't tell me. I told you before words are cheap, actions say everything."
"Terrance stay with Mori while I go hunting please." Nocturne says looking away from Mori towards the door. Mori can't see anyone since no lights have been lit. Nocturne's blood seemed to have allowed her to see better at least for a bit but now she's back to her normal sight.
"Of course Sire." Terrance replies. And with that Nocturne takes off. He hasn't gone hunting one of his own for some time and since this one is supposed to be one of his best hunters it should prove to be entertaining. Maybe he'll go easy on him if he gives enough sport.
