By the time Nocturne was done Mori was sore and tired. Nocturne dresses himself and pulls the covers over her. The sound of her dry heaving has him turning back towards her quickly.
He examines her and doesn't find anything wrong with her and looks at her in confusion. Mori doesn't like being stared at, "Never seen a woman with morning sickness before."
"If I thought that was the only thing wrong then I wouldn't be so worried. Vampire blood has more nutrients then you should need and you shouldn't be sick like this. Not even morning sickness. There is a reason our blood can become addictive." Nocturne turns his thoughts inward trying to figure out what is wrong.
He's quiet for so long that Mori is almost asleep again and is considerably startled by his voice, "When was the last time you had human food?"
"I've been in and out of consciousness and lost all track of time, had visions of you and your nightmare life and you ask me when the last time I ate human food was? How the hell should I know." Just the thought of eating makes her stomach growl but at the same time makes her nauseous.
"You need to eat." Nocturnes voice is cold and final.
Mori just gives a weak laugh. When Nocturne looks over at her Mori replies, "Your brilliant deduction is astounding. Now that you've made that stellar deduction can you tell me how exactly am I going to get fed? Between the nausea and the exercise you just put me through I'm too damn weak to even stand up, let alone make me food. If I had anything left in me I would be covered in sick due to not being able to make it to the bathroom." Finished speaking she is to tired to even keep her eyes open.
Nocturne is still more than a little angry with her and rather than just go over to her side he stalks over. But before he can do anything Mori speaks again. "If you force your blood on me at this time I'll drink, but be prepared to move quickly because I'm pretty sure it'll come right back up."
Nocturne stops in the act of slicing his wrist. She does need to eat but if it's only going to come back up then it'll only make her weaker than she already is.
"Do you think you would be able to keep a small amount down? Just enough to get you enough strength to get to the diner?" He doesn't like the idea of taking her there again, but she's in no condition to cook as she is now.
Mori gives a slight shrug, forcing her strength together she finds enough to give a verbal answer, "No idea I can try and see. I really am both hungry and sick though so anything can happen."
Nocturne sits on the bed and helps Mori into a semi reclined position. Once she is set he makes a small wound that will heal quickly and has Mori drink. Two mouthfuls is all Mori gets before the wound seals itself. The delightful taste of the blood seems to refresh her somewhat. She keeps her eyes closed until she is sure that she isn't going to be sick.
Nocturne watches her with unreadable eyes. And is relieved when she nods and starts to get up. "Let me help you get ready and then I'll carry you to the diner."
"Nocturne?" Mori asks out of the blue.
"Yes?" Nocturne replies absently.
"In the news it's showed you with some of the worlds most beautiful women and celebrities." Mori says still half asleep.
Nocturne chuckles Mori can feel it but there is no corresponding sound. "Jealous Mori?"
Still tired Mori replies honestly, "Not really. I know my place in society. What I wanted to know, why did they always have bruises? They covered them up well but if you know what to look for it's obvious."
Nocturne is silently gathering his thoughts, "First off, you don't know your place. You know what your place used to be. You are second only to me, which makes you higher than any of those so called high class females.
"Second, well they forgot that the king of the vampire is not human. They tried to control me. At least the majority of them did. Some of them just disrespected me. A few of them, well I was just in a bad mood at the time."
"I see." Is all Mori would say. And she did. He gifted her with his healing and the valley due to his capricious nature. He would have hit her as well she has no doubt if it weren't for the bond.
Nocturne doesn't like the silence after her statement. "What do you see Mori?" His question is abrupt and cold and demands an answer.
"I get it Nocturne. I would be like one of them if it weren't for this bond. But there is something I don't understand." Mori ends and doesn't ask what is on her mind.
Nocturne sighs and tightens his self control as he grits out the question, "What don't you understand Mori?"
"You're going to get angry with me again." Mori replies before continuing, "I don't understand why anyone would wish to be around someone so abusive willingly."
Mori was right, that did make him angry. "Are you saying you aren't around me willingly?"
"Set me down please." Mori softly requests. At first Nocturne ignores her request but sighing once more he complies. Once Mori is on the ground she grabs Nocturnes arm to steady herself. "Sorry, just a bit dizzy." She says taking deep breaths.
Once she is sure she can talk and not faint she answers his question, "Nocturne, you are the king of the vampire. You shouldn't even be talking to the likes of me. Hell you have slaves of higher human station than I. Somehow you found your way to my little valley and turned my life and that of these villagers upside down. So to answer your question, if you hadn't come to me, no, I wouldn't go anywhere near you. I wouldn't be allowed anywhere near you. Only the beautiful people and your slaves are allowed near you. I am neither. Or at least I wasn't. Now this bond makes it so that yes, but at the same time it gives me a limited protection that those other females didn't have."
Mori sways and Nocturne quickly picks her up once more. "So you wouldn't be with me if it weren't for this bond?"
"You wouldn't be with me either except for this bond. I'm not even sure carrying your children would have protected me from your wrath." Mori's truthful answer angers him, but he also admits to the truth of her words.
"Mostly they wanted to be seen with me for the prestige and were willing to put up with all kinds of abuse. People like that are born with power and like it. They will pay whatever cost to have it. I think some of them hoped that I would choose one of them to have my child. A true play for power." Nocturne finally answers her question directly.
"So why didn't you choose one of them?" Mori is curious about this more than anything else.
"Their blood for the most part is vile. They fill their bodies and blood with drugs making it almost undrinkable. The alcohol and things they smoke add to the nasty taste and make them unworthy of anything more.
"Their blood is drunk only if there isn't something better or for some vampire, if they wish to get a high.
"Everything ingested or inhaled into the body is reflected in the blood. Your blood is so pure that sometimes it's hard to not drink. There are some vampire's I wouldn't let you near for this reason. Blood like yours is rare, almost nonexistent now. Even when we have locations like this tucked away from the rest of the world it's hard to find blood so pure.
"The purer the blood the stronger the child. Had I chosen any of those females it's unlikely my child would have lived long enough to be my heir." Mori thinks on his words as they enter the village.
All talk stops as they reach the village and Nocturne carries her into the diner. This time his entrance is noticed and understanding of what he is creates a silence in the diner itself. Nocturne notices and smiles. The smile makes the villagers nervous.
The diner is busy and it takes Nocturne a moment to find an empty table. He smiles again, good the table he wants is empty. He takes Mori over and sets her down gently. Almost as soon as he sits down the waitress is there to take drink orders.
Nocturne orders food for Mori and not just a drink. She doesn't say anything to his choices, she's too tired to even care at this point. The blood she'd had earlier was wearing off and she's not sure how much longer she can remain awake.
"Mori, just a little longer." Nocturne sees her fight and once more is concerned. She needs more of his blood and this isn't the place to give it to her. Mori nods sluggishly.
By the time her food arrives Nocturne has changed his seat to be next to her and ends up feeding her. "Finish this bite Mori and we'll go." Nocturne coaxes the last bite into Mori's mouth and when she starts to gag he sends healing into her to stop it. It's only partially successful though. Mori doesn't get sick but she continues gagging for several minutes before she can stop.
Nocturne doesn't waste time he throws down more then enough money to pay for the meal and carries Mori out of the diner. Once out he starts running back to the cabin.
"Can I stay out in the sun for awhile? I'm not used to being indoors so much and miss the feel of the sun." Mori asks only half aware of her surroundings. She didn't realize that she was already inside away from the sunlight.
Nocturne doesn't say anything just picks her back up and carries her outside. "Is there anyplace in particular you'd like to be?"
"The overlook. I'd go there to think sometimes. It's peaceful and helps me to recharge, I guess is the best term." Mori has her eyes closed so she misses the look on Nocturnes face at her choice of locations. He hadn't forgotten that someone had pushed her off of that cliff not so very long ago.
If Nocturne had realized just how much he was giving away with his look he would have been mortified. His face is suffused in anger, but he keeps it to himself. He uses his magic to bring blankets and pillows for Mori to lie down on. After he makes her comfortable he goes to stand but the touch of her hand on his arm stops him. "Are you leaving now? I don't think you've ever left me alone since you first got here."
"I thought you'd like some space. I'll be over there keeping an eye on you while I conduct some business." Nocturne motions to the other side of the big tree where her family is buried.
"Thank you." Mori meant for not just allowing her out here but also for giving her the space.
Nocturne smiles, a smile he only gives to her. "Sleep Mori, if that is what you wish. But first you need more blood." Mori isn't sure she can handle ingesting anything else but suddenly a craving for his blood nearly overwhelms her.
When Nocturne offers his wrist to her Mori can't get enough. "Mori, stop."
