A Clock's Life
I am the keeper of time
Like a fortune teller
I've seen everything that was and will be
A round ball is me
Silver shining metal
A smell only I have
Like the old familiar smell of a favorite toy
I do my task without fail
As disciplined as an ant
My tough organs make me but unlike others
They can be replaced
As long as time is around
I will exist
Still I desire more
The squirrels touches leave nothing on me
I long to escape through the barrier
And not only to sense the cold wall
I see the birth and death of life forms
But I can never experience what they feel
