" Mom you're back ......" I said as I saw mom walk in with a basket of fruits.

    " Yes dear .....sorry I took so long..
   I needed to go get some fruit for you in the market." Mom said.

    " No wonder, I slept off waiting for you" I told her as I stretched my body up to get some fruit from the basket.

   " Let me get it for you Rachel. Don't stress yourself... remember what the nurse told you."

    " Yes mom...but it doesn't hurt that much again...."

   " No buts Rachel, let me help you out ok... mummy miss helping you out.
    Let me take care of you my little angel"

   " Mom I can't guarantee not becoming a spoilt brat if you help me with everything, ok and I'm sure you want none of that, right? ...,"

" Silly you Rachel.... can you ever change .....
   You always want things to go your way ,but unfortunately things won't always go the way one wants okay, so can you change for mummy."

    " Mom that is a proof that I'm  your daughter...I actually got this trait from you....
   Don't even think I'm not aware...
   Grandpa told me everything about you. So I know whose daughter I am ."

   " Oh my goodness Rachel....you always have your way, I can't keep up arguing with you I give up.
    Please take the fruit by yourself."
Mom said as she surrendered.

    I know for a fact that I will miss this moment, seeing my mom and arguing with her on unnecessary things.

    I wonder how she had managed to stay alone for four years without me by her side.

  For the past ten years now ....it has been me and my mom alone.
As for my dad, he died in a car accident.

   His death was a sort of a double catastrophe as we, I and my mom, were  accused of theft shortly after his burial

We received a letter from the company my dad used to work as a manager .
  The letter read that my dad stole a huge amount of money and ran off with it.

   We were shocked twice ...by the death of my dad and the sudden information from the office. Both were beyond our belief.

  We could not defend my dad in court because we could not come up with any strong evidence to back him up .

  Therefore we lost the case and we had to give up our house as collateral to cover the money my dad allegedly stole.
We didn't have such an amount of money  for compensation.

    So we were left with no other options than to give up our house.
  Dad's death was terrible, unexpected, painful I don't even have any other adjective to qualify how I'm feeling  in my heart right now ...I wished he was still aliveand not six feet under the ground.
Had he been here I was sure we would won and not lost our house to strangers cause his presence alone would have been a great help.

After we vacated from our big house .
Mom's elder brother Simon bought us a house to live in.

    It wasn't as big as our former house in fact it was nothing compared to it but we were glad to at least have a shelter.

  Mom had to look for menial jobs to make ends meet and live a stable life.

She tried her best to make sure I got the best education .
   Which I did .....It was then I promised mom to always have her back.

   But sadly it seems I turned out to not be a lady of my words, I couldn't keep my promise.
   Cause I abandoned mom for four years.
  Am I that weak to still be here for four years. I didn't realize I was crying until mom brought me out of my reverie

  " Rachel...... Rachel... What's wrong ....why are crying."

   " Mom am not crying..." I lied then tried to discreetly use my hands to wipe off the tears on my cheek. But it seems like I wasn't successful.

   " Rachel don't you dare lie to me ....tell me what's disturbing you, are you feeling any pains ,
  Should I get the doctor, is it hurting badly...
  Please tell your mother ".

   " Mom.....mom am ok ." I shouted at her to calm her down.

" You scared me a while ago Rachel ...
Please don't do  that again alright"

   " Ok mom " I gave her a smile.

   " It's late already ....go to sleep you need to have enough rest ....
   So you can recover fast".mom said

" Ok mom...you too take a rest ...you also need a rest" .

  " Yes dear I will definitely take a rest"
Mom said as she used the blanket next to me to cover me.

   " Thank you mom . I said and finally slept off.

   " Excuse me nurse ....where is my mom" I asked the nurse that was cleaning me up.

    " Hmm your mom....she went home, I guess", the nurse replied.

   " Ok thank you for the information" I told the nurse as I gave her a smile.

   " Miss what will you like to eat ....let me get it for you."

  " Hmm ....ok I will love to have some  porridge."

" Ok I will be back in a minute, miss " she said and went out.

It been long I had porridge ...I wonder if it still has the same taste.
  Or if my taste buds are on vacation.

I hope it isn't cause am really hungy now and although I can eat anything I see now, I still want to have something sweet.

What is taking the nurse so long, it has been well over fifteen minutes.  Am already salivating.
   My stomach hurt so badly....
 
   " Is any one there " I called out, but still did not get a reply.

   Oh my goodness where is mom when I need her the most.

  I can't leave the room ....nor can I look for the nurse taking care of me.

   " Excuse me ma, can I come in " I heard a lady voice right outside my room.
    I drifted my eyes back to the entrance of the room
   
That's when I saw a lady with a tray of food in her hands.

She should be the cook.

  " What took you so long, I am very hungry .
   Why are you still standing there....come in already".

  " Yes ma "....she said as she walked in and dropped the tray of food.

   " Please can you stop calling me ma, you're way older than me .
  You should be at my mom age...it quite disrespectful if I let you continue.

    So from now please address me as Rachel..
   I should be the one addressing you as ma".

  " Oh my daughter .... you're so kind and different from the other patients here in this hospital.

  Your parents should be really proud of you Rachel.
  You actually look like an angel".

   " Aww that too sweet to hear from you...
  And you too are also very pretty I guess your daughter is also pretty like you".

  " She  was until I lost her "

  " Am really sorry I didn't mean to..."

  " It not your fault from now henceforth you're my daughter.
   Is that ok with you, can I be your God mother".

  " Wow that cool I never thought of having a God mother so nice as you are.
  Am definitely okay with that".

I told her as I gave her a smile.
 
  " I will be going now dear " .....
" Ok God mother see you later " .
