The Jacks were one of the most popular boybands ever, formed in the model of UK Crush by a management company hoping to capture lightning in a bottle twice. They succeeded, and each boy went on to individual success after the band went on hiatus.
John Darling-Ezekwesili (Johnny Darling when he was in the band) is now making a movie with Hyacinth O'Dell, and is poised to take Hollywood by storm. Always having balked at management's attempt to box him into a mold, he's now using his full name and trying to branch out and embrace all facets of his life. He's very taken with the beautiful and glamorous Hyacinth, and knows she's into him as well. But then he meets her sister, Clementine, and all bets are off. Clem's quiet and creative, a student with no aspirations to the Hollywood life.
But what's he supposed to do? The whole world expects him to date Hyacinth, including both Hy and her sister Clem. Should he hide his growing feelings for Clem? Should he put his feelings aside and just date Hy, pretending to the world that they're a couple?
And poor Clem, who's been in love with John since she was in junior high, never believed she'd have a chance with him, her teenaged crush of The Jacks fame. She also doesn't want to hurt Hy, who's never been anything but a wonderful sister to her.
