The Story Of Us
The Story Of Us
The dark night,
My warm bed,
The silence hanging after our fight,
The way you make me feel like a parasite.
The cold glare,
Your clenched fist,
There's anger permeating from your stare,
You're trying to show me you don't care.
But I know you better,
Yes, I know better,
And I see your smile when I look away,
And I know you love me, come what may.
Why do we have to keep pretending,
Acting like we aren't happy?
I just want to run into your arms tonight,
Into your heart and end every stupid fight.
But the empty bed,
Your vacant look,
Tells me that you believed what I said,
That you think our love is truly dead.
So the bad end,
Unsaid goodbyes,
That's just how the story of us turned out,
Killed by silence, fear and self-doubt.
