UshiTen Pt. 1

Every time Tendou saw Wakatoshi, his heart would beat furiously. He was finding it increasingly harder to stay around Wakatoshi, knowing he had no chance. Tendou knew that Wakatoshi was suspicious about the other's behaviour but he always made excuses when questions were asked. Tendou didn't want to think about telling Wakatoshi about his feelings. He knew they wouldn't be in touch for much longer as the school year was ending soon and they'd both be going to different universities. The thought of loosing his best friend was bad but not as bad as confessing. He'd rather have a heart-attack then do that.

Tendou walked through the school halls. It was now lunchtime and he had to try his hardest to not bump into Wakatoshi. He'd eat in the bathroom if it was necessary. He rounded the corner and into the locker area. He pulled out his packaged lunch and returned to his classroom. He was in a different class than Wakatoshi, and he had volleyball practice then. Tendou quit the club in order to avoid the one he was in love with. If his feelings were found out, he wouldn't know what to do. It would be the worst situation he could ever possibly encounter

Tendou grabbed his lunch from his bag and pushed through the crowd of bodies. He made his way up the stairs and too the rooftop where he sat down, all alone. He didn't have any friends outside of volleyball in which he'd never return to. The door opened again and someone rounded the corner. Tendou didn't think much of it and returned to eating his lunch, though he didn't get very far through when a familiar voice called out, "Satori Tendou, explain."

Tendou looked up to see a familiar cold looking face. "Wa-kun? What are you doing here? I thought you were at practice."

"We need you on our team, Tendou. I'm here to get you back."

"Well," Tendou began to pack his lunch up, "I just remembered I have a tutoring session in the library now. Talk later," Tendou said and flashed a smile. His heart was not under control and instead rampaging on its own.

"There is no later. You ignore my texts, my calls. Whenever I try talking to you, you leave. Did I do something to cause this?" Wakatoshi asked with no emotion.

Tendou chuckled. "You didn't do anything, Wa-kun. This is all on me. I don't want to be doing volleyball anymore. I've finished with it," Tendou lied.

"Even if that was the case, you're acting out of the ordinary and it's worrying me," he admitted.

This caught Tendou by surprise but he didn't let it show. "I better be on my way then," he said and started walking forward but got stopped by Wakatoshi pressing his hand against the others chest.

"I'm not letting you leave until I get an answer," he ordered.

"I already told you, everything's fine," Tendou scowled.

"It's not all fine, Tendou. If you don't tell me what's wrong, I'll go to your house and tell your parents that you're dating me," Wakatoshi black-mailed.

"But we aren't Wa-kun," Tendou replied. He wanted this piece of blackmail to come true.

"But I will," he replied and lowered his hand.

Tendou stood there, thinking about the outcomes of this. He could admit his feelings and risk losing a friend or risk being kicked out of the house. The latter, right at that moment, deemed the better one.

"Sure. Go ahead. But remember they'll kick me out of the house if you say that," Tendou said.

"I don't care if that's what your reply is. I'm going to get answers one way or another. I'm not letting you leave until you tell me," Wakatoshi ordered.

"Shut-up," he harshly said.

"No, I won't. This is unacceptable behaviour. I am your best-friend. I need to know about this."

Tendou sighed and stared into the other's eyes. "I'm not going to risk it, Wa-kun."

"Come back to the team, Tendou."

"Just leave me alone," Tendou said harshly. Speaking like this to the one he'd fallen for was not ideal. He hated doing it but it was his only option.

"Not until I get an answer. Is it something I did?"

"I already told you it wasn't. Now leave me alone," Tendou grumbled.

"Not until you tell me what is going on."

"Shut up!" I shout and stare at the ground. "Just leave me alone!"

"You're my best-friend, Tendou. I need to know what is going on in order to help you."

"You can't help me. You'd never be able to help me."

"If it's someone bullying you then I can more than certainly help you."

"Isn't it obvious? That it has something to do with you but it isn't you?" Tendou said as tears fell from his eyes.

"That doesn't make any sense."

"I know it doesn't but it's the truth."

"Just tell me, Tendou."

"I don't want to."

"I wouldn't usually push on such a matter but if this is interfering with your volleyball then I must get answers."

"But if I tell you, it'll ruin your volleyball playing."

"I don't care. I need to know."

Tendou sighed and rubbed his arm. "Fine. You know when you said you'd tell my parents we were dating? Yeah, I kinda wish that was true." He dropped his head in shame. "this is why I didn't want to tell you. I feared you'd hate me and I guess I was correct."

He turned away from Wakatoshi and walked away. He balled his hands up in his pants pockets. An arm firmly gripped onto his upper arm. "I don't understand how you'd know I didn't feel the same way unless I got time to respond." Tendou continued to stare at the gravel.

"Because it's obvious you don't like me back," he admitted sadly.

"Don't say things when you don't know the truth," he said sternly.

"So what you're saying is that you like me?" he asked hopeful.

"Well, I do like you like that but that's not what I was trying to say. You shouldn't assume things before knowing the truth."

"Wait...you like...me?" Tendou said in shock.

"Yes, I do. It seemed irrelevant to volleyball so I never planned on telling you."

"You never change, Wa-kun."

"What do you mean?" He asked, oblivious.

"You only ever think about volleyball. That's what I like about you," Tendou beamed.

Wakatoshi covered his face with his hand though Tendou could see the redness that covered his cheeks. Tendou placed his hands on his shoulders and pulled himself closer to Wa-kun and kissed him on his exposed forehead and started skipping away almost immediately.

Finally Tendou felt happy.
