Kasey Summers was the hottest girl in school. She didn't know it yet. Tonight was the big dance, and I would not dance with her. Looking at the car's reflection, I double-checked my suit, tugging the bow tie to ensure it was extra tight. Finally, I arrived at Kasey's house. Walking towards her steps, I felt a rush of anxiety. Was I doing this?

I rang the doorbell three-time and knocked once. Kasey's dad answered after the third ring. Every boy knew Kasey's hidden beauty, but tonight, she looked magnificent.

"Kasey, you look beautiful," I said. Kasey glanced at me and then at her father.

"You look handsome too, Timothy." I smiled. A compliment from a lady is worth more than anything.

"Shall we go to the car? I'm sorry I would have got a limo, but my mom was all I could afford." She slapped me on the shoulder. "That's not nice," she said, half giggling at my joke.

"Sorry," I laughed, feeling nervous as ever. I opened the door for her and held her hand as she let herself in. Hopping in myself, I shut the door, and we went to prom.

When we arrived at the dance, I  opened the door for Kasey so she could get out. I waved awkwardly at my mom as she drove away, and we walked in. She held onto my hand, squeezing it tightly as we walked toward the middle of the dance floor.

I took a sharp, deep breath as I grabbed her shoulder and caressed her hand in mine. Looking into her eyes, I could see how much I truly loved her. There was nothing in the world I could love anymore.

She grabbed ahold of my waist, and we danced. It was as if time froze and the world spun around us. I watched her watching me as we circled.

Kasey's eyes met mine as we stared at each other intensely. Then I did it. The unexpected move that I didn't see myself doing tonight. Moving slowly, I brushed my hand against her cheek, leaned in, and laid my lips softly on hers. I felt her shiver before a smile formed on her lips.

"You know," she started as we continued spinning around on the dance floor. "That was my first kiss."

"It was," I asked, knowing this was my first. It was the most beautiful kiss I have ever had.

"Yeah," she replied, her radiant beauty showing brightly underneath the ballroom light. "This is the best night ever. I never want to leave." I leaned closer to her body. She shivered again.

"I have a secret," I said. "I don't want to leave either." We danced the rest of the night, holding on to one another. It was just like in the fairy tales, but better.
