Chapter 2: The Second Note
Julie's POV

I miss Miranda so much she was my best friend.

It's all Todd's fault she's gone. Blame him.

Dumb subconscious. I don't want to blame anyone.

Still his fault.

Whatever. I need to focus.

But it's still Todd's, fault!

"Shut up!" I shouted out loud. I covered my mouth. Good thing the music's too loud. No one heard me!

Except Aaron.

I looked to my side at the only guy cheerleader. We had become good friends since he joined the team. Right now we were at cheer practice with the music blaring. We're supposed to be stretching before we start with this quarter's cheers.

He was wearing a puzzled expression.

"Uh, I wasn't talking...?" He ventured.

"Oh, uh, not you."

"Then, uh... Who?"

"My uh, subconscious."

"Oh," he went back to stretching. Phew.

Way to go Julie. See what happens when you tell your own mind to shut up?

Oh, shut up. I need to focus on something fun.

I looked over at Aaron, who was working on arm stretchs. I glanced around at the room at the other girls with tight pink uniforms and bright hair bows. Then I closed my eyes and listened to the music...

Suddenly, my eyes popped open.

I love this song! (When!)

Out of no where, I burst out dancing. For the whole song, I was totally involved in dancing. It wasn't until the song was over, I noticed people starring. My checks turned bright red.

Suddenly, everyone, even the couch and Aaron started clapping. I smiled and took a bow. Then we started our cheers.

...(after cheer practice)...

I had thrown on my brown jacket as I walked to the school garden. I was still in my uniform with my hair still in a ponytail. It was late at night. About 8:30, I think.

I slipped a small, ripped paper out of my pocket. A little piece of Miranda from me to Todd. I read it over once more before placing it firmly in a rose.
