Chapter One: The First Note
Todd's POV

I did the right thing. Of course I did... I mean, anything else would have hurt her.

Hurt her more maybe.

Oh, shut up subconscious, I don't need you nagging me too. I have friends for that. Particularly James.

He's my best friend and he would never let me forget what I did. Even if it was the only way.

No, it wasn't. You could have forgotten about the other one...

The other one... No! Shut up subconscience!
...and stayed with Miranda. That wouldn't have hurt her. And she wouldn't have moved away.

That was a coincidence! It wasn't me!

"Ugh!" I groaned out loud.

"Subconscious again?" James and I are eating lunch at the mall. Today's Saturday and we were bored. But we're not here to shop. We came for lunch after playing some football in the park with the guys.

"Yeah," I admit, "I doesn't seem to want to leave me alone."

"Hmm, that's to bad. Maybe if-"

"Don't even start," I cut him off. I know where this is going.

"OK, but just know that-"

I raised up my hand I a talk-to-the-hand kind of way. "Don't."

James raised both his hands in defeat, "I was actually going to say if you didn't eat those fries of yours quick enough, they might... disappear..." He made the magical gesture with his fingers and I smirked. Then I grabbed a fist full of fries and shoved all of them in my mouth at once. He started laughing and I joined in as soon as I finished chewing.

And we went on like that: laughing and eating until we were done. And not another mention of Miranda.

When I got home I flopped onto my bed. My day was awesome, but exhausting as well. I longed to sleep. But when I walked over to turn on my fan, I suddenly wasn't in the mood to sleep anymore.

There, folded and in between the slits of my fan was a small note. It read: You have no idea- and it was in Miranda's handwriting.
