Chapter 1

     I am a predator. A predator stalking my prey. RWAR! I taticly leaped on to the evil monster who hopped to the left. Ouf! I fell on my belly with a loud thud. I got to my feet quickly and ran. I ran as fast as the wind. For when an attempt to land on the pery fails,  you can't stay long.  Expesally when you're as small as I am.

     I made it to the valley of gaints. The screen on the corner of the long white wall was turned on to Too Cute. I ran up a pillow hill for extra height on my long trip. I jumped as hard as I could. But instead of landing flat on my feet, I began falling. Falling faster and faster,  untill I finally Felt myshelf abruptly stop. Except,  I didn't hit the floor. I felt the strong hands of my owner. She pulled me up and into her lap. I felt safe, untill the monster came running into the valley. Mew! I tried to sound innocent as I stuffed my head into my owner's (my mommy) hand and closed my eyes. Woof! Uh-oh... I thought.

     Mommy brushed my gold and chocolate fur and gently put me on the floor. Why  did you try to jump on my back, Ginger? I thought we already settled our differences long ago when I was adopted. I thought about that.  It's true that we worked out our problems, but it still feels like yesterday that Mommy brought the black ball of fluff home in her arms. I was hiding under a pillow. Even though the ball of fluff was smaller than me, I was kinda scared. I was a kitten then and a kitten now. It was only two months ago.

     I was the pretader, and you were the prey. I was just playing Hunting.

     Then why didn't you tell me it was a game you playing?

     Because, Pepper, if I told you, you would be expecting me to pounch on you. I would lose my element of surprise.

    Okay, want to play chase?

    Nope. I wanna snuggle Mommy.

     Too bad!  He jumped on the fur on the tip of my tail so I would run. I didn't hurt much, not enough to meow in pain. But I wasn't aboug to give in to his demends just like that. I hopped back into my mommy's hands. I shoved my head under her arm. Pepper went to Mommy's other side and did the same. Good night, Ginger.
