Chapter Four

Chapter 4: The Fourth Note
Todd's POV

After James showed me that note, I was confused out of my mind. Why did it say Julie? I spent the entire hour contempleteing the crazy question in my mind.

That's what you get!

Shut up. I was not dealing with this. I have more important things to do. By this time, school was out. I had to meet my girlfriend at the front of the school; I drive her home since she doesn't have her lisence yet.

By the time I had reached the front of the school, I had completely gotten the notes out of my mind. I spotted Emma sitting on a bench on her phone. I smiled.

Time for a fun joke, I thought to myself.

I walked up in front of Emma. "Hey, can you help me?" I said in a fake voice

Without looking up, she said "Sure, what do you need?"

Perfect... I thought.

"Well, I'm trying to find my girlfriend."

Still not looking up, she asked what my girlfriend looked like. So I started describing her.

"Well she has long, brown hair, the most beautiful eyes in the world, the cutest smile you've ever seen, and, I bet, that right now she's," I looked over at what she was doing on her phone, "reading Chapter 13 of her favorite book."

She looked up, confused at first, then, seeing my smirking face, smiled the cutes smile you've ever seen.

"Todd!" she jumped up and hugged me. I hugged her back and asked,

"So how's it going?"

"Everything's good. Oh, and are you busy this Friday?"

"No, why?"

She explained that Lily, one her new friends, was going on a blind date with James, a guy on the football team. Then she explained how they decided to make it a triple date with Charlie, another guy on the team, and his girlfriend and us. I agreed to go as we walked to my car.

I drove her home and started making my way to my house. As I was digging around for my sunglasses, my hand grabbed a small piece of paper. I didn't remember having put any paper in the place I keep my sunglasses.

Starting to worry myself, I pulled the paper up to where I could read it.

It said: -understand the pain-

Crap, I thought. Here we go again...
