Next Lessons: Luna Eclipsed
S2 E4, Luna Eclipsed everypony! Sisterhooves Social is up next!
It was a late October night in Ponyville, which tonight happens to be one of the biggest holidays of the year. Malibu had decided for the ocassion he was gonna dress up as a timberwolf after Applejack explained the ins and outs of Nightmare Night, their holiday.
He guessed in a way it could be a holiday to celebrate the defeat of his aunt's evil side, while walking downstairs from his room Malibu saw Applejack dressed as a scarecrow, pushing a bucket of water and apples outside to the town. Malibu went over. "Maybe I can help," He said, using his magic to lift it. Applejack sighed in relief, nodding to him.
"Thank ya kindly, Mal. And great costume." Malibu grinned awkwardly, looking down at it which was mostly pieces of timber and other wood strapped to him and he was wearing dog ears too. "Nothing much," The teal alicorn said sheepishly, recalling back to when a Timberwolf nearly poisoned him, which deemed scary enough for the evening.
"Ya ready to celebrate?" Applejack asked in excitement. Malibu nodded. "For sure. I love Hearth's Warming. Maybe this will be just as fun!" Applejack winked at him. "You betcha it will! Now let's get to that there party!"
The duo along with Applebloom, Big Mac, and Granny Smith went together into Ponyville where Malibu could see all the residents in different outfits, along with many Nightmare Night decor and food stands. His belly rumbled, for he sure could use some food and candy. Malibu remembered how his doner Brooklyn had always gotten excited for Earth's similar holiday Halloween. And the fact that he could celebrate a night similar to this one was pretty awesome to Malibu.
Granny Smith took Applebloom to do trick or treating while Big Mac helped him and AJ set up their bobbing for apples. Ponies soon came to join in on the fun including one Derpy Hooves. She walked up to Malibu, her eyes cross eyed but friendly.
"Hello... Malibu, isn't it?" Malibu nodded in greeting to the gray mare, who had bubbles for her cutie mark. "Happy Nightmare Night, Derpy. You want to bob for apples?" Derpy looked excited. "Oh yeah. Would love to!" She said, stepping up to the apple bobbing bucket.
Malibu stood there for a while enjoying the scenery when suddenly a huge lightning flash sounded, making him yelp aloud, zipping into the air, only to hear Rainbow Dash laughing. He glared at her, but playfully. "Dash, that scared me to death!" He said, his hair standing up on end. She happened to be wearing a Shadowbolts outfit, smirking.
"Aw, lighten up. I love this night since I'm only in it for the pranking," Dash remarked. "Hey, over there!" She pushed her storm cloud over to the next victims. Rolling his eyes at his marefriend Malibu spotted the trick or treat group, going over to them because for some reason Pinkie Pie was among them, wearing a chicken outfit.
He raised his brow. "Er, Pinkie? Aren't you too old to be with them?" Pinkie gave a squawk when hearing. "You kidding? Time is candy! And any candy is worth it!" She said, gesturing to her chicken outfit. Malibu sighed, shaking his head but was greeted with another little colt dressed as a pirate tapping his leg.
"And who are you? Don't think I've seen you around," Malibu asked. The little colt grinned. "Pipsqueak the pirate, at your service, Prince Malibu!" Malibu grinned, chuckling. "Just Malibu, thanks."
Pipsqueak pulled out his sword. "Also, this is my very first Nightmare Night, ever!" Malibu was somewhat surprised. "Oh, really? Me too." Pipsqueak looked happy. "No way! We can celebrate our first together!" The alicorn nodded, feeling lighthearted from his comment. "Yep."
"Well, see ya around, gonna go get more candy!" Pipsqueak said, running to catch up with his friends and Pinkie. Malibu was glad he made another friend.
Twilight was soon seen wearing some kind of robe and pointed hat, Spike alongside her in his own costume. "Happy Nightmare Night, Applejack and Malibu!" Applejack nodded in their direction. "Howdy, Spike! Hey, Twilight!"
Malibu looked over Twilight's outfit. "And what are you supposed to be?" Applejack chuckled, coming for a closer look. "Yeah, nice costume."
Spike grinned. "Thanks! I'm a dragon!" Malibu noted how Spike's was just a dragon over his real dragon looks, making him roll his eyes again. Twilight glared. "They mean me, Spike."
AJ giggled. "With that beard, I reckon you're some sort of country music singer!" Twilight grunted frustratedly. "I'm Starswirl the Bearded! Father of the Amnimorphic Spell!" Malibu blinked. He certainly hadn't read up a lot of the important ponies his mom told him to do, busy making friends and all.
"So... he's important I'm guessing?" Malibu asked dumbly. Twilight glared, making him back away. "Ok, ok." Derpy had at that moment appeared out of the water, a smile but wound up draining the water.
Ponies applauded then, gathering at the stadium, the mayor wearing a clown otufit giving a welcome speech. Applejack nudged him. "C'mon, let's go watch." He followed her in haste to the gathering.
"Thank you, everypony, and welcome to the Nightmare Night festival!"
All of them including Malibu cheered since this was his first in Ponyville. The gargoyles from his home would've loved this. "Now, all the little ponies who have been out collecting sweets should follow our friend Zecora to hear the legend of... Nightmare Moon!" She began to do an 'evil' chuckle, which felt off putting because of her clown wig and makeup.
She gestured to the stage as a cloud of eerie green smoke exploded. Malibu gasped slightly, seeing their zebra friend in her own outfit come. It had been a while since he had seen Zecora.
"Follow me, and very soon, you'll hear the tale of Nightmare Moon!" Zecora rhymed mysteriously, the fillies and Pinkie following. The other residents too with Malibu tagged along until seeing the statue of said pony. Malibu swallowed when seeing the statue, remembering his encounter with Nightmare.
Zecora smiled. "Listen close, my little dears. I'll tell you where you got your fears. Of Nightmare Night, so dark and scary." She blew more green glittering powder, that formed into Nightmare Moon, the shadow of her, baring her fangs. "Of Nightmare Moon, who makes you wary."
Malibu whimpered, the cloud image falling onto them, surrounding the group with the smoke. Twilight took his hoof comfortingly. "It's not real, just for fun." Malibu trembled. "How do you like this?!"
Zecora continued. "Every year, we put on a disguise, to save ourselves from her searching eyes." Her images continued to scare the little colts and fillies. "But Nightmare Moon wants just one thing: to gobble up ponies in one quick swing!"
Now that one threw him off a little. Why would Nightmare Moon want to eat other ponies when she too was one? He didn't say anything though if it ruined the illusion.
"Hungrily, she soars the sky. If she sees nopony, she passes by. So if she comes and all is clear, Equestria is safe another year!" The kids talked to Zecora about why they always had to give candy to the statue. Malibu listened in on that as well. "A perfect question, my little friend. For Nightmare Moon you must not offend. Fill up her belly with a treat or two, so she won't return to come eat you!"
That did it for the fillies and Pinkie Pie, screaming as she and the others poured the candy near the statue's feet. "Everypony! Just dump some candy and get out of here!"
Malibu himself quite enjoyed hearing the story, but wasn't prepared for what happened next when a flash of lighting raced across the sky; and the wind picked up. He glanced up to see a chariot flying down, being flown in by what appeared to look like bats and ponies crossed together.
What is this? Is Nightmare Moon back?! Malibu screamed at himself in fright, backing away, as did the others. Pinkie Pie screamed loud again. "It's NIGHTMARE MOON! RUN!"
The group of kids ran off, still screaming, the mysterious cloaked figure flying out of the chariot, landing, smiling, then throwing back her cloak.
To Malibu's shock, and some happiness; it was his Aunt Luna! But what was she doing here? He tried walking up to meet his aunt. "Auntie Luna," Malibu greeted, until AJ pulled him back, shaking her head. He wondered why then saw the townsfolk bowing and shaking.
Luna spoke, in her Alicorn Voice. "Citizens of Ponyville! We have graced your tiny village with our presence, so that you might behold the real Princess of the Night! A creature of nightmares no longer, but instead a pony who desires your love and admiration! Together we shall change this dreadful celebration into a bright and glorious feast!" Lightning flashed unintentionally around her, scaring the town further.
"Did you hear that, everypony? Nightmare Moon says she's gonna feast on us all!" Pinkie shrieked. Malibu's eyes widened, offended at Pinkie's comment. It wasn't Nightmare Moon, couldn't she see that? Luna watched them running off, speaking in a normal voice.
"What? No, children, no! You no longer have reason to fear us! Screams of delight is what your princess desires, not screams of terror!" She stomped her hoof rather roughly, making a pony in a mouse outfit whimper in fear. Luna next tried the mayor. "Madame Mayor, thy Princess of the Night hath arrived."
Malibu saw even the mayor quake before his aunt, hating that they still aren't seeing she is good now. More ponies kept cowering and quaking in fear from the night princess, making Malibu feel bad for his aunt. "What is the matter with you?" Luna questioned, frowning. But no pony answered.
She eventually turned away. "Very well then, be that way! We won't even bother with the traditional royal farewell!" Luna walked off to be by herself.
Narrowing his eyes, Malibu went to try talking to her but Applejack stepped in front of him. "And what are ya doin'?" He stomped his hoof. "That's my aunt, AJ. No longer Nightmare Moon. She didn't need ponies fearing her! I'm talking to her!" Applejack knew she couldn't argue with the prince so she agreed, letting him go by.
Twilight was also volunteering to talk to Luna, who was sitting near the Nightmare Moon statue, looking downcast.
A voice hit her ears, a familiar one. "Um... Auntie?" Luna glanced about, seeing the male alicorn she knew as her nephew. He gave her a small smile, waving. Luna gasped softly, her eyes shining, going to give him a hug. "Oh, my nephew! It thouist had been too long!" Malibu cried softly while hugging.
"I missed you too, Luna. And I'm sorry for how everypony was reacting in front of you." Malibu said. Luna didn't really say anything back, until the voice of Twilight was heard. She had seen the reunion between Malibu and his aunt and smiled. "Princess Luna? Hi. My name is—."
Luna looked at her costume. "Starswirl the Bearded. Commendable costume! Thou even got the bells right. And you're a Timberwolf?" Malibu nodded. Twilight laughed in satisfaction. "Thank you, finally! Somepony who gets my costume!" Malibu glared, clearing his throat and gesturing to his aunt.
Twilight grinned sheepishly before continuing. "Uh, I just came to welcome you to our celebration. My actual name is—."
"Twilght Sparkle." Luna answered in a low voice. Said pony smiled, then Malibu saw his aunt go all Alicorn Voice again. "It was thou two who had unleashed the powers of harmony upon us and took away our dark powers!"
The unicorn laughed nervously. "And... that was a good thing, right?"
Luna nodded. "But of course! We could not be happier. Is that not clear?" Malibu cringed at her high voice tones. "Yeah, but, you could lower your voice, aunt," He advised. Twilight agreed. "It sounds like you're yelling at me."
The indigo alicorn tilted her head before speaking again. "But this is the traditional royal Canterlot voice! It is tradition to speak using the royal 'we', and to use this much volume when addressing our subjects!" She said the last words in her booming tone, Malibu lowering his ears down to block it. "Uh, suppose so." Malibu muttered, Twilight pushing up her hat that was blown back.
"You know that might explain why your appearance was met with... mixed results. I think if you just changed your approach a bit, you might be met with a warmer reception."
Malibu saw Luna narrow her eyes a little. "Change our approach?" She yelled again. He cringed up more, the noise piercing his ears. "Lower the volume?" Twilight offered. Luna turned her eyes down. "Oh. We've been locked away for a thousand years. We are not sure we can," She said doubtfully.
Smiling Malibu took up his aunt's hoof. "We can help, aunt Luna. Just trust us." Twilight nodded. "Yeah, and the best place to start is with our friend Fluttershy!"
The prince wasn't so sure but went along with it, following Twilight and Luna to Fluttershy's cottage. "Don't worry, Princess. Fluttershy can give you some great pointers. She's delicate and demure with the sweetest little voice." It made Malibu smile at her descrption while Twilight knocked on the door.
To their surprise a booming voice came from the door. "GO AWAY! NO CANDY HERE! VISITORS NOT WELCOME ON NIGHTMARE NIGHT!" Malibu's jaw dropped at how big Fluttershy's voice was. This may be harder than they thought. And plus he learned one time ago at how much the yellow pegasus hated this holiday for good reason.
Twilight laughed nervously, Luna raising her brow. "Fluttershy, it's us, Twilight and Malibu!"
Fluttershy peeked out shyly. "Oh, you guys. And Nightmare Moon." She had opened the door more revealing Luna. Her eyes popped. "Nightmare Moon?! AAAH!" She slammed the door shut. Malibu grinned sheepishly at his aunt. Luna kept up her regal stare.
"Uh, wait right here," Twilight said, laughing awkwardly, going inside. There was a tustle but she was able to get Fluttershy outside with her magic, Fluttershy petrified. "It's just my aunt Luna, Flutter. She's not mean." Malibu tried to assure.
Luna raised her hoof in greeting. "Charmed!" But her voice was loud again, causing Fluttershy to zoom back to the house, Twilight still not giving up and pulling her out again with magic. "Heh, likewise," She whimpered nervously. Luna continued. "Twilight Sparkle and my dear nephew hath spoken of the sweetness of thy voice. We ask thou teachest to us to speak as thou speakest!" Her voice boomed. Malibu couldn't help facepalming, wishing his aunt wasn't so athorative with her tone.
Fluttershy quivered. "Ok."
"Shall our lessons begin?" Luna asked loudly, making his yellow friend cower more. "Ok."
"Shall we mimick thy voice?"
"Ok."
"How is this?" Luna questioned in the same tone. Fluttershy gulped. "Perfect, lesson over!" She said hurriedly, trying again to go back inside, Twilight closing the door on her and she slammed into it. Malibu had to stifle a laugh of the comedic timing of the moment. "A little quieter, aunt." Malibu suggested.
"How is... this?" She asked, her voice somewhat low but not quite. It made him grin. A bit of an improvement. "Better, right, Fluttershy?" Fluttershy pulled her face off of the door, whimpering. "Y-yes."
Luna attempted to lower her voice further. "How about... now?" Malibu felt even more happy for his aunt. "Yeah, that's it!" Luna smiled at him. "And... how about now?" Her voice now finally sounded like any other normal indoor voice. Twilight looked proud. "Yes! Well done!"
But to Malibu's surprise Luna suddenly took up Fluttershy in a hug, her voice back to before. "I thank thee, dear Fluttershy! Our normal speaking voice shall surely win us the hearts of thy fellow villagers." Fluttershy looked quite petrified at this, and it was bad timing when Pinkie Pie and the other kids showed.
Not now! Malibu moaned silently, as Pinkie spoke. "Fluttershy! You've gotta hide us! Nightmare Moon is here and..." she wound up doing a chicken squawk somehow. "Ah! She stole Fluttershy's voice so she can't scream when she gobbles her up!" They all screamed like before, running off. Luna tried stopping them. "Nay, children, wait!" Her booming voice yelled before she got a raised brow look from Malibu. "Uh, I mean... nay, children, no wait!" She looked rather sad.
He smiled assuringly at his aunt, who sat down. "It'll be fine, they'll come to see the good side of you soon, I'm sure they will." Luna smiled back at him. "I hope you're right, thy dear nephew," She said in her indoor voice. Twilight nodded. "Come on Princess. Time for plan B."
They decided to bring Luna to the village to play some games there, but everypony besides Malibu and Twilight. Luna looked doubtful about their plan. "It is o fno use, Twilight Sparkle and nephew. They have never liked us, and they never shall."
Malibu shook his head. "We'll be introducing you to our friend Applejack, the most likeable pony around. I'm sure she'll have ideas."
They went to the apple bobbing bucket, Applejack having saved Pipsqueak from falling in, turned around, and yelped at the sight of Luna, cowering like how the others would. Malibu groaning a little, tapped her shoulder, making her look at him.
"AJ, don't you remember Luna being my aunt?" Asked Malibu. Twilight nodded. "Yeah, and the Princess is looking for a little advice on how to fit in around here."
Applejack was surprised which was expected by now. "Fit in? Really?" Twilight gave her a glower, and she changed her attitude in seconds. "Uh, I mean... that's easy! All you gotta do is have the right attitude. Loosen up a bit, be positive, play a few games, have some fun."
Luna's eyebrows went up. "Fun? What is this 'fun' thou speakest of?" Malibu smiled, happy to be able to play games finally with his aunt, Applejack gesturing to a spider web game, and a bucket with some fake spiders.
She was curious. "Pray tell, what purpose do these serve?"
Malibu watched the mare in charge of the game named Cherry Berry explain. "T-t-try to land t-the spiders on t-the web!" Luna took up a spider as did Malibu. He tossed a spider onto one of the two spider webs, but missed.
Luna seemed to be a little upset. "Thou has missed dear nephew." Malibu shrugged. "My first time playing, I won't always hit the mark on the first go. But you give it a try." AJ nodded. "You can do it, Princess!" She encouraged. Narrowing her eyes in determination, tossing the spider, which to Malibu's amazement; landed right onto the web.
She grinned, but just a little. "Ha! Your Princess enjoys this, fun! In other ways may we experience it?"
Applejack guided her over to the pumpkin throwing contest where what Malibu saw they were launched from catapults. They put a pumpkin in for Luna. "Fire away, Princess!" Called out AJ. Luna shot the pumpkin into the air, hitting the target dead center.
An even bigger smile was on his aunt's face, Malibu's heart warming at the sight. "Ha ha! The fun has been doubled!" She cheered, the others cheering with her. Malibu took his aunt's hoof and took her over to the bobbing for apples. "Why not try this game, Aunt Luna?" He suggested. She looked interested until seeing Pipsqueak having fallen in, going to save him.
Malibu spotted Pinkie Pie and her group, his face falling. They couldn't have come while seeing the others cheering for Luna? "Hey, guys! Anypony seen Pip? We lost him the last time we had to run—." Her eyes bulged when seeing Luna pulling Pipsqueak from the water, misenterpiting the situation. "Aaah! Nightmare Moon is gobbling up Pipsqueak! Everypony run!"
Once again the group ran, Pipsqueak squirming free. "Help! My backside has been gobbled!" He wailed, upsetting Luna. Malibu's ears fell at her looking angry. "'Tis a lie! Thy backside is whole and ungobbled, thou ungrateful whelp!" Right when stomping her hoof lightning sounded, making Malibu's hairs on his neck standing up, trying not to back away while the townsfolk did.
He chuckled nervously, stepping in front of Luna. "This is all just a misunderstanding! My aunt saved him!" The crowd didn't believe his words but Luna did her own speaking too. "Fair villagers, please do not back away. Let us all join together in... fun!" She looked about for what to do, getting a toy spider and throwing it in their direction, not fazing them.
Her eyes narrowed. "Not enough fun for you? What say you to this?!" To Malibu's shock she shot her magic at the spider, making it come alive, scaring everypony even further, and zapping the bowl of spiders that went to crawl onto the web.
"A-Auntie?" Malibu asked in worry, Luna looking a little stressed but trying to smile. "Huzzah! How many points do I receive?"
A mare shrieked in fear from a spider on her face, running away, the others running more, destroying the festivities. Malibu cringed. This wasn't going too well, worried for his aunt's reputation.
"Do not run away! As your Princess we command you!" Luna shouted sharply. The villagers kept screaming their heads off, the former gargoyle clone unsure what to do now, looking downcast, Luna finally losing her temper. She bellowed into the night. "BE STILL!" Her voice amplified a hundred times more than before, making them all freeze and cower.
Twilight stepped up to Luna. "Princess, remember! Watch the screaming!" Malibu nodded, a hoof on his aunt's arm. "You wanted to make friends, remember?" She turned sharply to the duo, her eyes glowing white that somewhat scared Malibu, gulping and having flashbacks of Nightmare again.
"No, Twilight Sparkle and Nephew. We must use the traditional royal Canterlot voice for what we are about to say." Luna addressed the crowd. "Since you choose to fear your princess rather than love her, and dishonor her with this insulting celebration, we decree that Nightmare Night shall be canceled! Forever!"
Malibu felt his own heart sink, staring at how upset his aunt was, thinking she acted too rashly to cancel the celebrations, and she flew away to be alone. Twilight tapped him, making him jump. "Mal? Since you're her nephew, maybe you can reason with Luna?"
He gulped. "Dunno if she would want to talk to me, since I'm partially to blame for all this trouble." Applejack smiled, shaking her head. "Not one bit, Sugarcube. Luna just needs to be reminded that you still are willing to love and be her family."
Twilight nodded. "Also I have an idea. Mostly to do with Pinkie. Meet me in one of the alleyways later should you convince her." Malibu smiled, agreeing, before flying off to find Luna.
The young alicorn found the taller one wandering on a bridge, looking into the water. "Auntie?" Luna glanced over, turning away. "Leave me be, my dear nephew Malibu!" She sobbed, wiping her eyes. But Malibu didn't leave, giving her a hug. Luna gasped a little, seeing her nephew still loved her even after her outburst.
"I understand how you must be feeling. But from what I learned Nightmare Night is one of the most enjoyed ones here in Ponyville." Luna huffed. "How can you be so sure? And all that happens is hearing the adorable shrieks of the children, as they run away."
Malibu wouldn't give up. "If you'd just come with me, I can show you they aren't as afraid as they appeared to be." He gestured with his hoof to follow him. Cautiously, Luna did, the two walking back into town, Malibu seeing Twilight's horn glowing from an alley. He and Luna went to meet her, Pinkie Pie there as well.
Twilight had lured in Pinkie Pie with candy, and wanted to show her Luna wasn't evil anymore. She nodded to the two, stepping out of the shadows. Pinkie looked ready to squeal but covered her muzzle.
"Pinkie Pie, you remember Malibu's aunt, Princess Luna, right?" Twilight asked, Pinkie nodding timidly. Luna walked closer. "Ah, the ringleader of the frightened children." She smiled rather cutley in Malibu's eyes. "Has thou come to make peace?"
Malibu saw how Pinkie looked a bit nervous at first, then smiled, about to shake his aunt's hoof, but lightning struck from a cloud behind her head, followed by Pinkie screaming and running. Malibu looked up to see Rainbow Dash being the one behind it.
"Rainbow!" Shouted Twilight, Malibu flying up to her with a glare. He could understand Dash's liking to pranking especially this time of night but this was bad timing. "Why did you do that?! Pinkie Pie was about to befriend my aunt! Now she wouldn't talk to her again!"
Rainbow Dash stopped her laughing, seeing the serious face on her coltfriend, swallowing. "Uh, heh. Sorry. But it doesn't look like she's scared. Look." She pointed. Malibu turned around, seeing Pinkie Pie pinned down by Twilight but grinning. "I'm almost as big as her, how's she gonna gobble me up?" The pink earth pony asked in a giggling voice, leaving Malibu's jaw dropped, as well as Luna.
He turned back to Dash. "Well, you may have been let off easily but maybe you can change up your pranking? The lightning is a tad too extreme, especially for the younger ponies. Maybe you can wear a scary jack o lantern face or something." The pegasus groaned a little but nodded. "Fine. I'll do it. Gonna go make a jack o lantern right now!" She flew off in a rainbow blur, making Malibu laugh slightly, happy she was able to see his side.
The teal alicorn learned too that Pinkie Pie claimed it was fun to be scared, though he wondered why. Twilight smiled at his aunt when telling her. "Princess Luna, we've finally figured out why you're having so much trouble being liked!"
Luna looked pretty deadpanned and uninterested. "Forgive me if I withold my enthusiasim!" She muttered, the former gargoyle clone put a hoof on her shoulder again. "I'm sure Twilight has a new plan, right Twi?"
She nodded. The trio went back to the Nightmare Night statue, having Luna hide while the kids brought the candy over to it, Malibu hoping this plan would really work. He watched Pipsqueak looking somber. "Goodbye, Nightmare Night. Forever."
Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed, Malibu witnessing all this happening, hearing Luna's voice. "Citizens of Ponyville! You were wise to bring this candy to me. I am pleased with your offering. So pleased that I may just eat it... instead of eating you!" His aunt had used a shapeshift spell and put on fake teeth for her Nightmare Moon cosplay, making the kids all scream after she smiled sinisterly.
The indigo alicorn spat out her fake teeth and changed back. Malibu thought it was a cool spell, grateful it wasn't the real Nightmare Moon. "I'm not certain that did what you meant for it to do, Twilight Sparkle and dear Nephew."
"Just wait," Twilight promised, Luna feeling someone tug on her mane. "Um, Princess Luna." It was Pipsqueak. "I know there's not gonna be any more Nightmare Night, but do you suppose maybe you could come back next year and scare us again anyway?"
Malibu's heart soared at the idea of these kids wanting Luna to entertain them again, having now discovered a new tradition. Luna was more stunned than anything. "Child! Art thou saying that thou... likest me to scare you?" Pipsqueak had excitement and joy in his eyes.
"It's really fun! Scary, but fun!" Luna still couldn't quite believe that all this was happening. Pipsqueak declared Nightmare Night was his favorite even if it was just his first one. "Well, then, we must bring NIGHTMARE NIGHT BACK!" Her voice grew into the powerful alicorn tone, blowing Pipsqueak back a little.
"Whoa! You're my most favorite princess ever!" Pipsqueak praised, hugging Malibu's aunt, who was glad that this was all working out great. "She said yes, guys!" The little guy told his friends, all of them cheering.
Malibu and Twilight came out from the bushes. "See, Aunt Luna, they really do like you!" Malibu said with a small wink. Luna stared for a while. "Can it be true? OH, MOST WONDERFUL OF..." She cut off her booming voice, giggling softly. "I mean... oh, most wonderful of nights."
The gargoyle clone turned pony ran to hug her again, the two doing wing hugs. "I love you, Aunt Luna. I hope we can hang out more now." Luna nuzzled him. "For sure, dearest nephew. We shall. And thou shall teach us to speak in modern speak." Malibu agreed. "It's a deal. Come on, there's still some Nightmare Night left to do!"
....
Once everything in town got cleaned up the festivities went on normally, Luna taking more part in the games and food. She and Malibu got to share some nice candy and cider together, while Twilight wrote her letter to Celestia:
"Dear Princess Celestia,
When you first sent me to Ponyville, I didn't know anything about friendship. I met somepony tonight who was having the same problem - your sister, Princess Luna! She taught me that one of the best things you can do with friendship is to give it to others, and help them find it themselves! And I'm happy to report that all of Ponyville has learned that even if somepony seems a little intimidating, even scary, when you offer them your friendship, you'll discover a whole new pony underneath. And even if my Star Swirl the Bearded costume didn't go over, this still turned out to be the best Nightmare Night ever!"
Rainbow Dash had tried sneaking up on Malibu, having a pumpkin costume on her head with a scary face, snickering, jumping out, yelling "Boo!" Malibu rolled his eyes, turning to his aunt, who shifted her head to look like Nightmare, laughing. Dash screamed, flying off. He would make it up to her later with a date.
The two laughed together, gazing up at the night sky, enjoying this Nightmare Night side by side.
Glad I got to write about Malibu being an adopted nephew with Princess Luna! There will hopefully be more of that in the future!
