Replacements
It's been two days since Lawson stayed the night. I feel like we're together without actually being together. The entire school seems to have forgotten about me and Lavender's been suspended since it was an accident...But she was also removed form the play which leaves us missing an important character. I walk into the auditorium, hoping no one makes a big deal about everything. River walks over to me as I set down my bag and smiles.
"So, I hear you got Lavender to confess," I nod, heading backstage for the costume fitting. "Why did she do it?" I glance over my shoulder.
"She did it because she likes you and you don't like her back," I see Lawson sitting on a chair outside the dressing room. "I need to talk to Lawson," River nods and goes into the dressing room while I go over to Lawson. "Hey...So everything's pretty much normal now." He nods and looks around before taking my hand, his thumb running over my knuckles.
"Pretty much but we could use the phrase for if you have an anxiety attack or we just need each other," I nod and look around before kissing his cheek. "Breaking the rules, are we?" I shrug and go into the dressing room. Justina walks over with a pile of clothes.
"Try these on while I sort out the music. Any requests?"
"Popular." I go to the only curtain area left and close the curtain after me. I put on the first costume and walk out. Lawson looks up as he drags his chair into the dressing room.
"Looking good, Wolfe," I look in the mirror and frown. The white blouse is tight, so is the leather looking vest and the skirt is hard to move in. "I hate to say it but I don't think it works," I nod in agreement and go try on another one. This one is a lot more comfortable and darker. I walk out and Lawson nods. "Now that works." I look at myself, the dark green blouse is tucked in a black tunic with a heavy black belt and dark leather bottoms.
"I really like this," I say to Justina as she looks me over and frowns. "I'm guessing you don't?" She holds up a finger and hands me two leather bracelets. I put them on and nods with a smirk. "Now it's perfect." Everyone nods and Justina hands me two dresses.
"For the dance scene," I nod and go back into the curtain area. I put my hand in front of the white one and can see my hand far too clearly so I carefully put it back before putting on the light green one. I sip it up the back and step out of the curtain. River and Lawson look at me with their jaws dropped. "That's definitely the dress." Justina purrs, giving the boys a suggestive smile as I look in the mirror. My jaw drops as well. There's a sort of leaf pattern on the dress and there's something about it that I can't quite explain but it seems Cas worthy. I do a twirl and notice a blush going over Lawson's face as he crosses his legs.
"This is Cas worthy and I think someone needs me back in my own clothes," He looks at his shoes with interest and I get back into my normal clothes. I walk out in time to see Uncle Freddy walk in with a grin.
"I have good news and bad news, I found a new Tanya who knows all the lines," Charlie dramatically walks out from behind the curtain wearing Tanya's costume. "Bad news is I can't find us a new Gregory who knows all the lines." I look up, a smile growing on my face.
"I think I know where we can find a new Gregory."

Uncle Freddy talks to Coach while Lawson and I try to convince Holden to join the play over the sound of the rest of the team playing.
"Holden, you're the only person who knows all the lines, we need you," Holden rakes his hair off his sweaty forehead and shakes his head as he drinks some water. "The money from the play goes towards Charlie's dad's surgery. If they can't get the money, he dies and Charlie might have to move away...I know they like you, do you like them?" Holden flushes even more and drinks more water. Lawson looks over at Uncle Freddy and Coach who looks like they're agreeing to something.
"Look, Holden, if you do this, I will do anything you want," Holden frowns at him and Lawson continues, not looking at me. "I would stop being friends with Dion if you asked or at least not ask her out when the play ends. Just help us." Holden looks at me.
"I will if Dion meets up with Scott on Saturday."
"I will but Charlie and Lawson are going to come as buffers."
"We have a deal," Holden looks at Lawson for a long time. "You'd do anything for this play?" Lawson shakes his head, glancing at me.
"I'd do anything for the people I care about. The play is apart of that." Holden nods and Uncle Freddy walks over.
"Well?" I put my hands on Holden's shoulders.
"Let me introduce Gregory Riverbend!" Holden does a bow and Uncle Freddy grins.
"Good work, H. I just sorted everything out with Coach and you won't be missing any practice." Holden nods and Coach walks over.
"Wolfe, hit the showers!" Holden runs off and someone yells watch out. I look and see a basketball soaring towards my head. I catch it and pass it back to the guys. "So, both of you are good at sports." I look over and shake my head.
"No, I just can catch a ball that's aimed at my head." Coach nods, unconvinced but he walks away towards the rest of the team, barking hit the showers. I feel like I just dodged a bullet.

"Holden, come on, Justina needs to check the costume," I call through the curtain and he sighs before stepping out from behind the curtain. "I think we should go darker for colours," Holden tries to give me a dirty look but the canary yellow vest over a bright orange shirt ruins it. "Do you think it's nice?" Holden nods slowly.
"I do, just not for me," He glances at Charlie who blushes and I smile to myself (They're cute together or soon to be together) "Please tell me you have a different colour," Justina hands over another pile. "Thank you." Justina leans beside me with a smile.
"So, what's Holden's deal?" Holden clears his throat from behind the curtain.
"I'm into someone but since I'm in the play, I can't do anything," Charlie blushes, between their red hair and pale skin, when they blush, they go full red. Holden walks out, this one dark red. "Now this is more like it." We all nod and Justina goes hmm.
"I'm not sure about the shirt length," She reaches out and tugs the shirt down with a frown. "Try tucking it in." Holden tucks it in and we all nod.
"Great, I'm going back into my normal clothes." Holden announces and goes back behind the curtain. Lawson beckons me outside and I go over to him.
"What's up? Do you think I was wrong about getting Holden?" He shakes his head, subtly hooking my pinky with his.
"I was thinking about my rule...The rule about not being together," He slowly intwines our hands together, a little smile on his face. "I'm going to ask your uncle to remove it. I don't think I can wait another two weeks for you...Or force Holden and Charlie to do the same." I squeeze his hand with a sad smile.
"I still want to wait," He nods, about to let go of my hand until I lift our hands and kiss his. "Only because I don't think I can kiss River if I'm with you without ruining the play but I think you should ask Uncle Freddy for Holden and Charlie's sake. I can promise this, I'm going to say yes to that date you mentioned to Holden earlier." I kiss him gently before stepping back, letting go of his hand. He nods and walks away, rubbing the back of my neck. Someone rests his chin on my shoulder.
"Thanks for doing that for us," Holden whispers and I nod before flicking him in the nose. "Ouch. So, you and Lawson are going to wait another two weeks?" I look at him, nodding.
"I wouldn't be able to do the final scene if we were together. We've waited a long time already, we can wait a little while longer," I turn around and cross my arms. "About you and Charlie. Are you going to make them change who they are?" He shakes his head. "Good. If you hurt them in any way, I will send the entire school the picture of you dressed up as Peter Pan when we were twelve." He pales and nods.
"Trust me, I wouldn't hurt Charlie, especially after what Rain did." I nod, not completely believing him. We both turn as the dressing room door is thrown open and Uncle Freddy runs out, phone to his ear.
"Don't worry, Robert, we'll be there soon," He hangs up and looks at us. "Your mother's in the hospital."
***
It takes us twenty minutes to get to the hospital and we have to sit in the waiting room with Dad who's praying now...Our parents don't believe in God. The door opens and a nurse walks in.
"Mr Wolfe?" Dad jumps up and I take Holden's hand. "Your wife's fine, so is your baby." We all blink before Dad frowns.
"What baby? Are you saying my wife's pregnant?" The nurse nods and I frown.
"Dad, you said you were both infertile."
"No, I said we were practically infertile, we were told that we could keep trying but it was incredibly unlikely we'd be able to have our own kids." The nurse shrugs.
"But not impossible. I can bring you to your wife now," We go to follow but she stops us. "Sorry, family only, as in her family." Holden frowns at her.
"We're their kids, they adopted us," She shrugs and he looks at me, lowering his voice. "I'm not sure if they have enough room for three toddlers and us." I glance at Dad before lowering my voice.
"They could use the guest rooms and convert the garage or something into a guest room," He gives me a look. "What? I'm coming up with a solution." He shakes his head.
"A solution that you used when we used to play Sims," He looks at Dad whose lips are pursed and eyebrows are knit together. "I think he's wondering if they can do it. Do you think they can?" I frown at him.
"Don't you?" He's saved from answering when we enter a room with Mom on the bed, looking a little pale. Dad sits on the bed while we sit on the chairs and Uncle Freddy leans against the wall. Dad kisses her head.
"How are you, mi encantadora?"
"Well, I just found out that I'm pregnant a month before turning fifty," She smiles at us. "So, how do you two think about three younger siblings?" Holden shrugs and I tap my chin.
"Can you give this one a normal name if it's a girl or a weird one if it's a boy?" She shrugs. "I guess I'll be okay with it." She grins and Dad sighs.
"I'm going to give up my office," Mom opens her mouth but Dad continues. "I just mean the room. I can convert the garage into an office...Or we could share an office." Mom smiles, stroking his cheek.
"Sharing an office sounds good." I smile at them and Uncle Freddy clears his throat pointedly at Holden who swallows.
"So, I have an announcement..."
