Chapter 1

I absolutely love the holidays, but if one thing's for sure the airport this time of year is the absolute worst. Especially when the day you're traveling is December 22nd.

Chris had been spending most of his time since thanksgiving back home in Boston and I had promised him that I'd spend Christmas this year with his family. Unfortunately, the only time that I could actually travel in regards to work was two days before Christmas Eve. It sucks.

Chris

What's your flight number?

Laurel

1360.

Chris

Great! Let me know when you board.

Laurel

Will do. I'll see you in t-minus 7 hours! D:

Chris

Don't worry! I have a present for you when you get here. :)

Laurel

Alright, dork. I have to go through security now. See you soon. :P

I had two hours of time to kill before I got on my plane so I decided to grab water and a snack. I managed to kill 45 minutes just waiting in line with another 15 while I searched for my gate. One more hour, I thought, then I can pass out for five and finally see Chris. I managed to read three chapters of my book before deciding that people watching would be a slightly more entertaining use of my time.

By the time we finally boarded I was so ready to leave. All I wanted was to be in Boston as soon as possible and to spend some much needed time with the best guy a girl could ask for. Chris had been sweet enough to get me my ticket and even though I insisted that he only had to get me an economy ticket he splurged and got me a seat in first class. Well, splurged in the mind of a struggling writer.

As I settled into my seated I filed through the movie options to see what they had. I smiled when I saw Age of Ultron and Captain America among a few of the films. With a bit of searching I found What's Your Number? and my mind was made up. I watched one more movie then took a nap, and by the time I woke up we were about to land in Boston and as soon as we touched down I sent Chris a text.

Laurel

Just landed. See you soon!

I pulled on my coat and grabbed my purse before leaving the plane. When I got to baggage claim my phone rang and it was Chris.

"Hey."

"Hey yourself." He responded. "Are you at baggage claim? I think I see you."

"I am." I turned around to see if I could spot him but I didn't have any luck. "I don't see you, though."

"I think I found you. Are you wearing my shirt?"

I looked down at what I was wearing. I had stolen one of his favorite shirts and decided to wear it on the flight over. It was incredibly comfy and smelled like him, so can you really blame me? "Maybe."

"You're such a dork. When I asked you to bring it with you I didn't mean wear it."

"Well, your directions weren't clear enough, Mr. Evans."

"I guess not." I finally saw Chris walking from behind a group of people and we both hung up the phone.

"Hi." He said and pulled me into a huge bear hug.

"Hey. I've missed you." I said and buried my face into the crook of his neck.

"I've missed you, too." He said and kissed the top of my head before we let go of each other. "It feels like it's been forever." He added and gave me an actual kiss.

"I know. It's crazy."

"Well, we're together now and that's all that matters. Let's grab your bag and head back home."

"Sounds perfect."

It only took a few minutes for us to grab my suitcase then and get back to the car.

"Jesus Christ, it's so damn cold here."

Chris chuckled. "You've been in LA too long. You've got to get some nice fresh air."

"That's very true." I smiled. "But it feels more like Christmas this way. I love it."

"Of course you do, you Christmas nut." He joked and wrapped an arm around me.

"Look who's talking. You're just as much a Christmas nut as I am."

"You're right, you're right." He laughed. "Here we are." He said and pointed to his car. "I'll take your bag."

"Why thank you, Mister. What a gentleman."

"You betcha, Miss. Oh, and there's a gift for you on the passenger's seat."

"Ooh, I wonder what it is." I raised an eyebrow at him and smirked before getting into the car. He had wrapped the present in wrapping paper covered with reindeers and put a giant bow on top of it. "How long did it take you to wrap this?" I asked when he got into the car,

"Too long." He joked.

"I almost don't want to ruin it. You put so much effort into it."

"Oh come one. You love ripping wrapping paper more than anyone I know."

"You're right. What was I thinking?" I chuckled before tearing into the package. "Oh my god. Where did you find this?" I burst out laughing at his gift. He had managed to find a Gremlins themed Christmas sweater for me and it was absolutely perfect.

"I did some searching and when I found it I knew it was the perfect gift."

"You know me so well. It's amazing and I think you're gonna like the gift I got you."

"I'm excited."

"Good. I'll get it to you when we get home."

"Well it's a good thing we're close. I can't even explain how excited my mom is to see you again. I think she might like you more than me."

"Well who wouldn't. I'm a gem."

He chuckled. "Maybe you're right."

A majority of our ride was spent jamming out to Christmas songs and making fun of the other for using the worst possible singing voice they could. Before we knew it we were over at Chris' apartment in the city.

"Wow, it's been a while since I've been back here." I set my coat and purse on his entry table before making my way into his living room.

"I guess so. It's got to be at least two years since you've last been here."

"Well I'm glad to be back. Now, let's get your gift." I opened up my suitcase and pulled out a few of the gifts I had gotten for Chris and his family before I found his. "Here we go." I handed the gift to him and closed my bag again.

The dorkiest grin spread across his face as he opened the gift. "This is incredible. I love it, and I love you." He gave me a kiss and held up the sweater. I had gotten him a Patriots themed ugly sweater.

"I thought you'd get a kick out of that."

"You know me so well." He folded the sweater back up and set it down on his coffee table. "My mom invited us to dinner at 8." He looked down at his watch. "So that gives about 45 minutes before we should head out."

"Alright. I'm gonna take a quick shower and change then we can go."

"Mind if I join you." He lifted and eyebrow and smirked.

"I wouldn't object."
