The Only Chapter......
There was a loud, scary thump on the roof on Christmas Eve and I knew it wasn't Santa, I was up in my room playing on the xbox that one horrible night and I came downstairs to see if anything had happened due to the weird noise I had heard before. But there was nothing out of the usual so I asked mum if she heard the mysterious noise but she replied with a simple yet fast,
"No,"
So I went back into my room where I spent most of my boring time because our family wasn't so close and my legs were uncontrollably shaking. Then I heard it, the slight sound of evil laughter echoing around my room. Look, I know I sounded delusional and weak but I was freaked out then more than ever.
Grandma went to check on her delicious gingerbread cookies that she would always cook for Christmas each year but it was funny cause I could swear that one was defiantly missing. I let it be and looked at the others sparkly red buttons, chocolate icing hair, MnM noses and devilish looking eyes. Grandma thought I ate it but that's what she always thinks. I promised I didn't, I knew I didn't, but she responded with,
"It's not like it walked of by itself, isn't it?" And she laughed, almost freaking me out even more if thats possible.
I went back to my room and came down to ask my over protective mum a question but I realised when I came down the creaking stairs that a sharp pointy knife was missing from the kitchen bench, I was still scared and all the things I was seeing was making it worse. I thought I would possibly collapse and hit my head against the stairs but it didn't happen. Suddenly the window creaked open like someone or something opened it and the cold and snow blew in then the sizzling, crackling fire blew out. I knew it wasn't just a coincidence, someone wanted the fire out, and I was determined to get to the bottom of it. I swore that if it was my cousins I would go ballistic but later on I found out it wasn't. I tried to switch on the lights but they wouldn't work as if someone deliberately blew up the useful generator outside. Dad and Mum being the smart geniuses they were, closed the window and tried to get the fire started again.
As most people would, I went in my warm bed and snuggled up tight under my blankets and cover hoping the cold wouldn't get to me. When I came downstairs to eat dinner I found out that Mum and Dad gave up on the fire and so we just sat at the table eating out food. Our only source of light currently was scented candles set up around the house and some massive torches we found in the attic. I heard a noise and turned around to see the pile of logs tumbling down to the ground, then I heard the same evil laugh and a small shadow go up the stairs. I knew we weren't alone and my family knew it as well. We got out a hole bunch of guns from Dad's shooting trips, I looked over at Grandma and she kept saying over and over with a terrified look on her face
"We're going to die, we're all going to die," Mum grabbed Grandma's hand and replied
"Your scaring the kids, we will be fine,"
After she said that I knew she was as scared as I was, as we all were and I could see the worry in her eyes, the horror. She was desperately trying to look calm but as far as I knew it wasn't working. Mum tried one more time to light the fire with a match but it was no use. Dad even got out fly spray and a match but it wouldn't work. I hugged mum and dad knowing this could be our last time together. We were still waiting for our cousins to show up but they didn't come yet and they were three hours late. I asked dad about it and he said that they were probably held up with the storm and all. I went to the window and looked outside to see if they were there and instead I was shocked to see there heavy car tipped over on the cold, wet snow in our front yard. One of my cousins was lying in the snow with a piece of glass right through her neck, staining the snow red with blood all over her lifeless body. My uncle behind the wheel had the knife from the kitchen plunged into his heart and my Auntie was stuck in a tree with a tree branch going into her stomach. My heart was beating faster and the car was painted with dark, oozy blood. My favourite cousin had specks of glass scattered on his face and his leg was twisted so far up his body it touched his head and the bone stuck out of his flesh. I saw a tree half dug into the car and the base of the tree was cut by an axe that wasn't there so whatever did this horrible, cruel act had a weapon.
I stumbled back and looked at mum and dad with my gaping mouth open and my face as white as a ghost. I tried speaking but nothing came out after a couple of seconds I pointed at the window and my family went over and looked. My sister screamed and mum and dad looked straight at each other. Then a candle went out and after that two more went out. We all huddled together and realised grandma was still over near the table then out from the shadows, Grandma's gingerbread cookie jumped on her and slammed an axe right into her head. It ripped it out and grandma fell to the ground, blood dripping from her skull making a pool around her. I ran to the basement and mum followed but dad was left behind, he held his gun tight and shot at it the power pushing him back each time, but it was no use. The more he shot the bigger it got and it just kept growing.
"STOP DAD JUST COME TO THE BASEMENT! YOUR MAKING IT MORE POWERFUL," I screamed
He heard me and ran into the basement with us we slammed the door shut and locked it but then it happened the door started shaking and the gingerbread man tried to get in. I thought we were done for but I had an idea, I grabbed the bug spray and the matches and lit one. The flame got closer to my finger but I held it tight, we stood away from the door and it slammed off its golden hinges tumbling to the other end of the room. I sprayed the spray and a giant flame shot out at him as he caught on fire, then he yelled. He ran around trying to get rid of the fire but it wouldn't work. He burnt and crumbled and fell to the floor, then we grabbed the fire extinguisher and blew out the flames. The next day on Christmas after we cleaned up the mess and disposed of Grandma, sadly I went to grab some cookies to go eat, but every single one of them was gone.
