04 December

It was December 4th. The friends all sat together at their breakfast table and ate together. They had got up late, but none of them really cared.

"Angus, could you pass me the coffee please?" Bon asked from across the table. Angus nodded and handed the coffee pot to the singer. "Thank you." He smiled and poured his cup.

"And? How was skating yesterday?" Brian asked, looking at Malcolm and Bon. Malcolm almost choked on his tea and started giggling. Bon gave him a warning look.

"It was nice." Malcolm said, looking down into his cup again to keep from laughing.

"Come on! We want the details!" Phil exclaimed, grinning while spreading jam on his bread.

"Well, Bon fell on his butt...from now to then." Malcolm chuckled, looking over at his boyfriend. Bon folded his arms across his chest. "What?" Malcolm chuckled. "It was like this! I didn't lie and didn't say anything bad either!" The friends laughed a little. "How was your movie the night before last?" Malcolm smiled and looked at Cliff. The bassist leaned against Phil's shoulder and smiled as the drummer put an arm around his shoulders.

"Well, I liked it." He hummed contentedly.

"Yeah, because I carried your ass up to our bed!" Phil teased. The friends giggled.

"What are we doing today?" Angus asked, picking at his scrambled eggs.

"Eat your food, Angus. Stop playing with it. Other people are starving." Brian scolded who was sitting next to him. Angus rolled his eyes.

"Yes, Mom." He teased. Brian blushed a little, making Angus grin. "I can't eat it anymore."

"Then stop raping the egg. Maybe someone else wants to eat it." Brian giggled and drank some coffee. They sat in silence for a while. Only the scraping of Angus' fork on his plate could still be heard, as he continued to poke at the scrambled eggs.

"When Angus is done raping his eggs, we could go get a Christmas tree, right? What do you say?" Bon asked. Angus chuckled a little and pushed the plate away. Brian rolled his eyes and took it to eat the contents. He didn't like throwing food away.

"Yes. Why not?" Cliff smiled. "But we're not putting it up yet, are we?"

"On December 4th?" Phil laughed. "Of course not. We never do it like that. It'll be on the porch for a while." They all nodded in agreement.

And so it was that after breakfast, and after cleaning up Ang's mess, they made their way to a Christmas tree seller. At Christmas time there were small stalls in front of supermarkets selling Christmas trees almost everywhere. They drove in two cars because they couldn't all fit in one. Cliff drove while Phil was his passenger. Angus and Brian were in the back seat. In the other car were Malcolm and Bon, with Malcolm driving the car. Soon they arrived in front of a shop. They parked their cars and set off. A few people ran up to her and asked for autographs, which of course the friends signed. Brian and Bon walked the long aisles and looked at the Christmas trees. Phil had gone to the supermarket because he wanted something special for lunch. Cliff was too cold so he stayed in the car while Angus rolled his eyes and said:

"Then why did you go anyway?"

"I didn't wanted to be alone at home." Cliff had said and closed the car door again. Angus and Malcolm stood in front of the entrance to the small booth and looked around.

"I want a bigger tree than last year, Mal!" Angus yelled, glancing over at his boyfriend who was holding a tied tree for Bon to look at.

"I don't know if we need a bigger one. Last year was fine." Malcolm muttered, looking at the price list. Malcolm was through and through the person who always looked at the prices and compared them before making a purchase. Angus rolled his eyes at that.

"We're not 16 anymore, Mal. We can afford a tree like that." Malcolm chuckled a little. "I want that tree!" Angus exclaimed suddenly, pointing to a tiny stand in the center of the shop. A tiny, 50 centimeter tall tree was clamped onto it, which actually served as the stand's mascot. Even though it was a real tree. A fir, like all the others. Malcolm started laughing.

"I thought you wanted a big tree."

"Yeah, but...but look at it!" Angus yelled, crouching in front of the tiny tree. "It's so cute!" He gushed as if he were seeing a puppy, looking up at Malcolm. The older one rolled his eyes. Bon and Brian approached their boyfriends with a large tree, together with the seller.

"What do you think of that one?" Asked Brian. The seller cut the net holding the tree and spread the branches out a little so they could get a better look at the tree. Malcolm circled it a bit.

"It's huge!" He then cried.

"It is not. You only think that, because you're so small." Bon teased. Malcolm gave him a grumpy look.

"Every year you come up with the same line." Bon chuckled a little. "Just let Cliff stand next to it. He's the tallest of us." They nodded and fetched the bass player. When Cliff stood next to the tree, the tree towered about four inches above him.

"That means the tree is about six feet tall." Brian said. "That fits. Then we can put a tip on it. Our ceiling is six feet high." They nodded. The tree was nice and big, wide and bushy. So they bought it. The seller re-wrapped the tree in a new net and helped them load it. They pushed the tree onto the roof of Malcolm's car before tying it up. Phil came with his groceries and helped them out. Brian paid for the tree and was about to get in the car to follow Malcolm and Bon, who had already left, when he saw the sad look on Angus' face. "What's the matter, honey?" He asked softly, looking down at Angus as the younger one was smaller. Angus kept glancing at the stand. "Did you want a different tree?" The little guitarist sniffed a little. A few tears gathered in his eyes.

"No. It's a beautiful tree. It's perfect for us."

"But?" Brian asked. "Come on, darling. I love you, you can't hide anything from me." Angus smiled a little.

"I...I like this tree." He said quietly and walked towards the small fir. Brian knelt down next to his boyfriend and had to smile a little. "Look how small it is. It's so cute." Brian smiled. He got up and went to the seller, but Angus didn't notice. When Brian came back he said:

"Come on Ang. Take it with you."

"What...but...but why?" Angus asked in surprise.

"This is your tree. Come on. It's yours." Angus stared into Brian's brown eyes for a while before they brightened.

"Awwwwww! Thank you Brimi! I love you so much!" He screeched excitedly and threw himself around his neck. Brian giggled and kissed him softly.

When they got home, Bon and Malcolm were struggling to get the tree off the roof of the car.

"You're just too small, Malcolm!" Bon yelled a little angrily. "You can't get there! Just wait for Cliff to come! He's helping me!" Malcolm crossed his arms furiously across his chest as he watched Bon and Cliff carry the tree onto the patio. Phil got a bucket which they put the tree in so it would have water. They wouldn't put it up for a few days, like they did every year. Once inside, they sat on the two sofas they had and drank tea or coffee and ate the biscuits Brian and Angus had baked. Angus had put his small tree in a stand and now placed it on the windowsill. He sat in Brian's arms and kept smiling over to his tree. Brian was happy to see his boyfriend like this and kissed his head gently before wrapping his arms around him. Phil and Cliff were also huddled together on the sofa, but wrapped in blankets because they were cold. Malcolm was still a little grumpy at his size. Bon looked over at him sadly before slowly getting up and sitting down next to him.

"Look Mally. I love you. I don't care if you're tall or small."

"Then why are you always teasing me about my height?" Malcolm asked, swiveling his head to avoid looking at Bon. Bon smiled a little and wrapped his arms around his boyfriend.

"Because I love you the way you are. And I love that you're so small." Malcolm looked up at him in surprise, which made Bon smile. "I love that you are so petite. I can always hold you in my arms and always be there for you. I just love you. The way you are. Even if you often don't like your body. I love it." Malcolm smiled tearfully and kissed him hard. He sat on Bon's lap and things got a little hotter before Phil called out:

"Ew! Boys! Go to your room! You're ruining the romantic atmosphere!" The friends started laughing.

"Well, if you think so..." Bon grinned, picking up Malcolm bridal and running up the stairs with him.

THE END;)
