Kris's POV

Not long after that, we came across a rusty metal fence. Another puzzle with two platforms and two boxes. Ralsei's face lit up. "Oh, look guys! Another puzzle!"

'Maybe that's what we need to lighten the mood.' The admosphere has been a bit tense since doll gave Susie a piece of her mind. Speaking of which, Susie frowned at Ralsei's words. "Oh no."

"Let's read the introductions!" Exitedly, Ralsei ran over to a sign on the gate but he turned back to us with a confused look on his face. "H... Huh?! The instructions are vandalized...!"

(Y/n) raised an eyebrow. "Really?" I thought about it. "Maybe Lancer again?" She crossed her arms, seeming to think about it. "I doubt that. What does it say, Ralsei?" The goat that resembled my older brother turned back to the sign. "It says... 'Thoust fools, thou will Never figure it out now!' Ruining instructions... That's definitely against the rules! Oh wait, there's more. 'PS. I make my own rules. Signed RK." He exclaimed with an indignant tone. Ralsei, crossed his arms, clearly irritated. "What. He can't do that. You can't not give us the rules of the puzzle!"

Suddenly, I heard (Y/n) groan from beside me. "Ugh!!! Of course it's him..." She face-palmed. "Do you know who did this, doll?" She nodded, still with a hand to her face. "Rouxle Kaard. He's the Duke of puzzles, at least, that's what he likes to be called. He's annoying, but harmless. Kind of like Susie, only that he's predictable." She pointed towards my classmates direction, who was already beginning to steam from anger again. I couldn't help but grin at her expression but kept it in, since I didn't want to start another argument between the two.

"Well that explains that!" Susie walked over to the metal fence, looking up. "Why don't we just climb over this spiked fence?"
"Umm, because then we'd get impaled and die...?" Ralsei clarified. "Cool, I'll work on that and you do the puzzle." Immediately, Susie tried to find a way to climb over the fence. Then doll leaned over to me. "Maybe we should do the puzzle before she actually manages to get herself impaled..."

I grinned. "Aww, if I didn't know any better I would say you worry about her.~" I teased and she stiffened at what I said but then turned around with a grin of her own. "Why?~ Are you jealous or something?~ Do you want me to fuss all over you, huh?~" She booped me on the nose in a playful manner and I felt myself blush.

I quickly turned away from her, praying to whatever gods she didn't notice. I heard her giggling the whole time I moved the boxes on the platforms, so I guess she did notice and I cursed myself for getting flustered over that. 'But... I have to admit... I would kinda like it if she was all worried about my well being. I bet she would be even cuter...'

As soon as the second box was on the free platform, the gate opened with a rusty squeek. Ralsei clapped for me. "Wa-ho, you did it, Kris! Great job!"

"I agree, great job.~" (Y/n) petted my back and then walked through the gates. On the other side I heard Susie mumble. "Damn, didn't get to impale myself. Oh well. C'mon, chumps." She said as she raced passed doll, taking the lead.

~small timeskip~

We faced a couple of opponents on our way. Susie still always tried to attack them, earning glares from (Y/n). But luckily, the opponents were mostly safe from her attacks after we warned them. I had to admit, we made a pretty good team. We started to get to know each other and began to trust each other more and more. Ralsei's said that this could give us a huge advantage in future battles.

After a while, the flooring changed into the one of a chessboard. Ever now and again, parts of the floor would light up. There was a sign that said: 'When you step into the light, you'll return to where you were before.'

"I guess, it would be best if we all stay close together..." Ralsei suggested. And that's what we did. We walked fairly close together as we carefully made our way to the other side. Sometimes we had to take big steps to avoid stepping on the changing lights. "Huh, this isn't too bad..." (Y/n) breathed out. "Shut it, you show off!!" Susie shouted, since she was having a bit of trouble keeping up with us while she tried to stay balanced. "Oh come on guys, it shouldn't be far no-- (Y/n) look out!!" Ralsei exclaimed. The tile she was about to step on started glowing unexpectedly. (Y/n) managed to keep herself from stepping on it but in doing so, she lost her balance and would have fallen over. If it wasn't for me.

My reflexes kicked in and I launched forward, catching her by her waist. She also had a tight grip on the scarf around my neck. This lead us into a very.... close position. I was pretty much dipping her. My hands around her waist, one of her hands tightly gripping my scarf in the front and her other hand at the back of my neck.

The two of us froze. We had been this close before, but only for teasing or for comfort. This was different. I stared into those piercing (e/c) eyes through my bangs and I could make out a bright red reflection in them, meaning that she could see my red eyes. I lifted her up a bit but we stayed in this position. I felt her hand playing with my hair at the back of my head and I shuddered under her touch. 'Holy shit. That feels... nice...' I shut my eyes, trying to pull myself together. "Kris..." She whispered out and I got goosebumps. 'My name sounds so sweet from her tounge... Sweet like honey...'

We started leaning into each other. 'She was so warm... So beautiful... So unique...' At first glance, it would seem like she was a fragil little thing. A frail porcelain doll that needs to be protected and taken care off. But I knew better. She's so strong. Not only is she a capable fighter... She's also incredible for dealing with the things she has gone through. In that aspect, she's so much stronger than I could ever be.

My brother moved away and I just... gave up on everything. Asriel always looked out for me and excepted me the way I was but when he left, I felt like I didn't belong in that town anymore. 'I was lost but this girl...' I scanned her face while she seemingly melted in my hold. '.... she found me...'

We leaned in closer and we closed our eyes. I could feel her lips just barely brushing against mine. 'Should I do it?... I've never done this before... Does she even want to...?'

"Ahem!"

Me and doll stopped everything and slowly turned towards the source. There we saw Susie with a stupid smirk and her arms crossed while Ralsie watched us with a hand over his mouth, trying to hide his smile. "Woho! Get it Kris, didn't know you had it in you.~" When Susie said this, Ralsei shoved her in the shoulder. "Susie! Don't interupt them. Can't you see they're bonding." He scolded, Susie grin grew. "Oh, they are bonding alright!~"

(Y/n) and I jumped away from each other. Immediately, an unusual cold consumed me and I just wanted to hold her again in any kind of way. I coughed awkwardly while trying to get this obvious blush to disappear. "Hey now, don't stop because of us! Carry on!~" Susie laughed and we both exploded in blush.

'I nearly did it, didn't I? I nearly k-kissed her! If we wouldn't have been interrupted, I guess we would have... But we've only known each other for a few hours!' I used to hate these kinds of relationships. Asriel was a sucker for romance movies and I watched them with them. There was one were the couple fell in love within about 5 hours and I laughed at them, saying that this could never happen in real life. I had to listen to Asriel's speech about this 'love at first sight' bullshit.

But now, I'm afraid it's happening to me....
