Talk to the Hero of Olympus

Thanks to AlEmily360 for helping with this chapter.

Artemis POV
As the moon began to rise into the realm of Nyx an awkward silence started to settle over us. The deer were silent up front, taking their usual route through the sky which they had done so many times. All that the average person would be able to hear was the wind whistling over the front of the sleigh and the dull bustle below of the city that never sleeps, although for us it was a little different. Being the goddess of hunting and Hero of Olympus respectively, I could hear his heart beating due to our proximity as well as breath he took and vis versa. Not wanting to have the night ruined before it really began I decided to break the ice between my us but before I could the demigod beat me to it.

"What's with the canines?" He blurted our before turning completely red when I raised an eyebrow in amusement. "W-wha-at I meant-t to s-say wa-?"

I held up my finger to stop him, gods I do love my Olympian authority but it gets in the way of making friends sometimes even among other goddesses. "It's quite alright Perseus, you don't have to be so cautious with me, you have the respect and friendship of both my oldest friend as well as the entire hunt. So if it is alright with you I'd like to become friends to"
That left him mouth agape nodding dumbly to my request. "And to answer your question, it's because of my domains of hunting and wilderness. Gods tend to adapt to fit better into our domains, like Hephaestus and his fire proof skin for forging, I have heightened senses for hunting with increased stamina for endurance during tracking. Physically I have longer teeth like a predator as I primarily at meat instead of ambrosia. Does that answer your question?"

He was still nodding a bit shocked that I want to be his friend. I mean, it is fair due to my reputation, it may be shocking to hear but I don't have many friends other than Apollo and my hunters. I find boys irritating at the best of times always making crude comments about sex or girls while the female population, hunters excluded are either scared of me or have turned out like Aphrodite and want to get me laid. The only exemption there is Athena but she is normally to busy with research. " I guess that makes sense, but why do you want to be friends,Artemis, surely you have lots already?"

I sighed at the demigods curiosity, "That's not true Perseus, the only people I consider friends are my hunters, Apollo and sometimes Athena if she is being sociable but they are more like family while everyone else are just acquaintances. I'm not the kindest person if you hadn't guessed so don't often get the chance to make them. I want to be your friend, you have all the qualities I would envision in one of my hunters while still being male." While that is partly true, that is not the full reason. Over the last few years I've somehow managed to develop feelings for the male beside me due to his noble actions as the hero of Olympus as well as how I've seen him treat Thalia as a friend. Of course me never having these absurd feelings before I simply ignored them until a month ago they became too irritating to ignore so I consulted my hunters for advice, I mean I was starting to think about the man even during battles which was not a good idea. According to the hunters I have developed a "crush" on him, which the hunters surprisingly didn't have a problem with, although Thalia hasn't stopped teasing me since.

"Well I would like to be your friend too," Percy answered with a smile which went all the way to his eyes while his hair was flying in the wind. "And for the record, your wrong, you are one of the kindest gods I know." He announced, believing every word of it.
I laughed humorlessly at him, "Really, you think I'm kind? I have slaughtered thousands for one man not sacrificing to me, I've killed millions of monsters due to my duty to Olympus, as well as many of my own hunters for simple miss understandings. I turned a man into a deer for seeing me bathe. Hades I still turn men into jackalopes for crossing my path!" I exclaimed with tears falling down my face regretting my many mistakes and shortcomings over the millennia.

As I quietly sobbed in self pity I felt the demigod tentatively wrap his arms around me, obviously nervous of my reputation despite his last comment. "While that may be true other members of your family have done a lot worse for a lot less. All gods have done bad things to mortals just for fun yet only you and Hestia give something back." I looked up at him raising an eyebrow not believing a word. "What you think that your a cold heartless bitch who doesn't care for any mortals?" The demigod questioned, as I nodded my head in agreement not wanting to speak out of shame. "Well that simply isn't true, if your the a cold goddess then why do you care for a group of girls who have no where else to go to except you like they are your sisters? If you are a heartless goddess then why take pity on the victims of the crimes of men? If you are a bitch then why do you reward me when others do not? Artemis you are probably one of the most caring goddesses out there but only a very few notice it."

I looked up at the demigod with hope glistening in my eyes, "Thank you, Perseus, you don't know how relieving that is to hear from a friend. It is good to no that while most gloss over my actions towards women in order to focus on my prejudice towards men it is not unnoticed by all." I leaned up and gently placed a kiss on the demigods cheek which caused the most amusing of reactions. In a instant his face had turned a nice shade of crimson as he started to stutter uncontrollably while I was still leaning on him with a smug smile on my lips.

"N-n-no prob-blem-m Artemis." He finally managed to stutter out after some time, though his face was still the same shade of crimson. Another silence settled over us as we rose higher into night sky, however this one was more of a comfortable one than the last. We had already pierced through the clouds so the constellations were out in all their glory, glistening over us as if they where watching over the world from above, which they probably were if I know them. The poor demigod I was currently leaning on was in awe as he starred at the consolations above us, some of which had disappeared years ago from this stupid mortals light pollution. Scowling at the thought of what the mortals are doing to not only the night sky but also the rest of the world I didn't notice the demigod next to me look over, obviously picking up on my change in mood. I was snapped out of my internal thoughts by Perseus inquiring, "What's on your mind Artemis? you seem annoyed."

"Hmm, I am a bit,  Perseus. I was just thinking about how those moronic mortals are ruining the environment and blinding themselves from the constellations of the night. I mean I can't see why they do it, destroying my domain just to advance their cities and run their little cars, what is wrong with small cities and horse back? I never have got what drives the minds of men." Finishing my rant with a sigh, looking up to see how the Percy had taken the my little monologue knowing many don't see the world in the same way I do. To my surprise Percy seemed to be beaming down at me with his signature smirk.

"I know right! They pollute this rivers so much as well, you should see the state of the Hudson in the New York. And don't even get me started on what those idiots throw into the oceans, it drives me insane..." Percy began obviously quite passionate about the subject at hand. I couldn't hold back my grin as I joined in the rant about all the things mortals were doing wrong. We ranted for hours on a arrangement of topics from the environment to the idiotic male politicians in charge of the country( I may have went a bit overboard with my hate for the boy Trump to the point the Percy had to tell me to calm down and breathe) to the correct way to castrate a male, which I didn't know Percy was so adept though I did still need to give him some pointers on the hunters number one way to quickly and painfully remove male reproductive organs. It involves Greek fire, a baseball bat and ghost eye chillies which is all you need to know.

By the time we had finished our political rants it was almost midnight with the the mortal wold far almost at its furthest, perfect I thought to myself it is almost ready. I got off Percy, who had found to be quite a comfortable pillow, standing up to grabbed the reigns as we neared high moon for a sight that has only been seen by myself and a handful of my best hunters throughout the ages, Hades not even my brother has seen this. As I turned round to inform him of what is about what was about to happen, I saw the demigod sitting up wide eyed starring at me mouth slightly agape. Now if any other man had done this they would be part of the ever growing Jackalope population but with Percy it was different. Instead of a lustful gaze other men would have given me, his only held awe and admiration, which made me flush gold a little bit, not helped by his next statement.

"Your the most beautiful thing I've ever seen," he blurted out before quickly clasping his hands over his mouth and going red with embarrassment. Really it wasn't his fault, every single huntress did the same thing their first time, it was natural. Not to sound vain or narcissistic but I know it was because of how at high moon I'm at my most powerful point enhancing my features. That being said it still gave me goosebumps they way he said it with such certainty. Before he could stutter out an apology I interrupted him.

"Thank you Perseus, your not bad yourself," I commented while eyeing him up and down, causing him to go an even deeper shade, scarlet almost. I wasn't lying either, Perseus would be what people would call hot, wearing a old brown leather jacket over his ruined camp-halfblood T-shirt and matching jeans which hid his muscular torso but with my enhanced eyesight I could still tell he was packing some serious guns underneath. I drew my lingering gaze away from the fine male specimen before me before he got suspicious. Before he could react to my previous statement I grabbed his arm and yanked him up so he was standing at the front of the chariot next to me looking out into the night. "Now brace yourself Perseus, this is going to be the experience of a lifetime."

Leaning my head on the hero's shoulder, I tugged the reigns as we entered 'The realm of constellations'.

This is going to be a interesting night.
