Chapter 1

The mansion looked huge and gave off a very lavish vibe. In front of the Mansion was a very beautiful lush garden that was one of its kind in its neighborhood. The garden brought the spring to itself. There were so many different types of flowers blooming that if a person was to count each species it would probably take him at least a day. In the garden, there were swings to play for kids and garden chairs for a person to sit and enjoy nature under a tree. The laughter of the three kids could be heard in the garden along with a 25-year-old handsome man trying to catch them. The grandpa is sitting under the tree reading a very peculiar book and looking over the kids playing now and then.

A Mercedes-Benz drives in from the huge gates and parks across the garden. Mr. and Mrs. Jensen walk out of the car. The twins, Rosa and Henry Jensen look over them and run to their parents at top speed. Andromeda Jensen and her husband, Fritz Jensen, hug and lift each of the twins in their arms and twirl them. The kids laugh and give and receive kisses. A perfect reunion of a perfect family.

Far in the garden, a six-year Elijah Frost is looking at his cousins in envy and mixture of longing for they receive the love and care his workaholic father Sebastian Frost couldn't seem to provide and a mothers' love that was a foreign concept to him. Daniel Frost also steps forward to greet his older and only sister oblivious to his nephews' envious stare.

"Elijah! Look what mom and dad brought us!", shouted Henry showing a jelly bean jar to Elijah. "Mommy said we could share Eli", the little Rosa smiled up to him. Elijah took some beans reluctantly smiling though the smile never reaching his eyes.

The only person who was looking over the whole scene was the grandpa, Robert William Frost. He was not just looking at the scene but absorbing it. He glanced at the book in his hands reading rule six of the forty rules of Shams Tabriz.

"Loneliness and solitude are two different things. When you are lonely, it is easy to delude yourself into believing that you are on the right path. Solitude is better for us, as it means being alone without feeling lonely. But eventually, it is the best to find a person who will be your mirror. Remember only in another person's heart can you truly see yourself and the presence of God within you."

Looking over the scene he found loneliness in Elijah's eyes. And the worse part of it was that it was the same his eyes looked. He could see himself in his grandson. He remembered how his father was never part of his upbringing and how his mother was never there for him. His grandson was going through the same with his father, his son, being workaholic like himself and his mother being never in the picture.

He never wanted this for his generation. He thought it was poverty that ruined him, so he worked his life off to give everything to his kids and their kids. So where had it all gone wrong for his grandson to have those same haunted eyes as him.
