Paul's POV...
Before me and Dawn entered the Pokemon Center, I whispered that I love her as well. To be honest, I have always known my feelings towards her. Whenever she smiles, it seems so contagious and her laughter sounds like chimes of bells ringing in a summer breeze. The only I don't know is how to tell if she likes me back. Hey you can't blame me for thinking her red face wasn't because she was coming down with a fever. I told you I don't know if someone loves me, all I know is that I love them. Anyway, before going to bed, I went to check on Torterra to see if his injuries are getting any better. When I was allowed inside, Torterra was fully awake. He seemed happy to see me.
"Hey Torterra, how are you feeling? Did the pain stop?" I asked rubbing my arm. I couldn't help but feel extremely guilty, it was my fault after all, but I don't understand why he still wants me as his trainer.
"Terra." Some how I understood what he was saying. Yes. I couldn't stop myself, before I knew it tears started pouring down my face like a waterfall. I hugged Torterra's head.
"I am so sorry Torterra, I never meant to hurt you," I cried. "I never knew my actions would get you this deep. I am sorry."
"Torterra, terra." It's ok, Paul.
Dawn's POV...
I went to check on Torterra, knowing Paul was going to be there anyway. When I reached Torterra's room, I saw Paul crying like last time and Torterra's vines around him, as if trying to hold him in a similar embrace. I smiled. Seems like Paul is changing. I then remembered Paul's story and why he became cruel to Pokemon and humans a like. I slowly stepped in the room.
"Paul?"
"What?" He didn't face me, it seemed as if he didn't want me to see him crying.
"Paul, you need to tell Reggie what happened, between you and your parents." Paul seemed to be having a battle in his head of whether he should tell Reggie his abuse or if he should leave it as it is.
"No." He said.
"Paul, Reggie has the right to know. He has been kept in the dark far too long. He needs to know why his little brother shut everyone out."
"No he's going to be like my father. He'll call me worthless and that my father is right, that it was my fault I was born and I was a mistake and a disappointment." Torterra seemed shocked. I knew what was going through his head. Is that why my master has been rude to humans. He must have been so lonely for so long. Torterra looked at me then at Paul, he licked away a few stray tears.
"Terra, torterra tor tor terra, tor torterra." Paul, you need to tell Reggie, I am sure he will understand. (Not good with pokemon language >.<)
"See even Torterra wants you to talk with him. And do not worry we'll be by your side so you don't have to feel lonely. Paul looked at Torterra and sighed.
"Okay, but once Torterra is fully recovered." We all smiled and went to bed after that.
A few weeks later...
Dawn's POV...
I waited for Paul to come outside. I already told Brock and Ash that I'll be traveling with Paul from now on. Though Ash didn't seem thrilled he accepted my decisions, finally, and Brock was already okay with me going. He seemed to understand that only I was the right medicine for Paul. He needs me. I saw Paul coming out.
"Are you ready?" I asked. He seemed a bit nervous, but after taking a deep breath, he gave me a slight smile.
"Yeah. I'm fine."
"Then let's go!" I shouted and we took off. We decided it would be faster in we used our flying Pokemon; Paul on his Honchkrow and me on my Togekiss.
Veilstone City...
Paul's POV...
As we reached my home, we got off our Pokemon. I said a small thank you to Honchkrow before returning him. Dawn must have noticed because she smiled at me. It made me feel so warm inside, to see her smile. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Reggie answered it and seemed very surprised to see me here. Before Reggie could ask, I bet him to it.
"I need to tell you something." And we entered the house, with a confused Reggie closing the door before following me.
Reggie's POV...
I was beyond shocked. When my brother came to visit me, I found it rather strange, when he said he needed to talk I was curious to what he wanted. But I never knew Paul went through so much pain. To think he became cold and distant because our parents died. I was so stupid. I thought we had the perfect family. Paul showed me the scars adorning his body and I couldn't breath. My brother, my little brother has suffered so much and... and I didn't even know. I could have helped him, but I guess I understand, if he told me before our parents died he might have been much worse. I hugged Paul and cried.
"Stupid you should have told me." I cried.
"Are...are you mad?" Paul sounded scared. I froze. Maybe this was the reason he never told me, because he believed he would have to go through the same thing again.
"No, I am just angry at myself for not being there to protect you." I lowered my head, my bangs shadowed my eyes. "I am the worst older brother ever." Everything was silent.
"No your not." I looked up, shocked.
"W-what?"
"I said you are not the worst brother. True if I told you, you could have helped but that was my fault. I was scared, scared to a point where I couldn't trust anyone, not even my own Pokemon. If you were the worst brother then you would have done the same thing mom and dad did to me. So you're not the worst, you're not perfect, but you're still an amazing brother. I smiled at his words and looked over at Dawn, she was silently crying.
"Thanks, little brother."
Dawn's POV...
After the reunion, Paul and I went back to traveling, we said our goodbyes to Reggie and was about to hit the road when Reggie stopped me.
"Thanks for looking out for him." I smiled.
"It's not a problem, he helped me see a different side of him."
"Yeah, now Paul is kind and caring, like he use to be." We smiled and looked at Paul as he took out Torterra. We told Reggie about Torterra and said that he could stay here but Torterra didn't want that, and neither did Paul.
"Thanks again Dawn, for helping Paul have a change of heart." I nodded and followed Paul, who was waiting for me. We waved at Reggie and started walking. A change of heart. I smiled as I looked at him. Paul has finally had a change of heart.
