As I stood on the rooftop, I felt as if I might puke. Beside me were two members of the League - Twice and Toga - and they both looked pleased to be there.
Before me stood Shigaraki - the blue-haired man I'd learned the name of - who had requested the ridiculous mission.
I squeezed my eyes shut. I don't want to do this... But... I gulped, thinking of everyone at U.A. who might get hurt. If I don't...
"Now," Shigaraki grinned, stepping forwards and grabbing my attention. "Your mission will be simple as you're new to this whole thing. I've even provided you with two of our best."
My stomach churned. What horrible thing will they make me do...?
Shigaraki's smile was wicked as he spoke. "Your mission will be..." No. No. No. "...Dealing with a nearby gang."
I blinked. "Huh?"
"Don't act so surprised, brat," Shigaraki rolled his eyes. "They're a nuisance around here and they're stirring up more trouble than I care for. Plus," he scratched his neck absentmindedly, "Their leader is a d***. I hate him."
My face twisted into one of confusion about the whole situation, having figured I'd be doing something much worse.
This didn't make any sense. They were villains. So why would they be having me do something so mundane, and, in all honesty, a bit helpful to the area. It must've been-
"Deku-Kun," Toga tapped on my shoulder suddenly, causing me to jump.
"Wh-what?" I sputtered, eyes wide.
The girl raised a brow. "Jeez. I just wanted to tell you to stop zoning out. We've got to start going now. Shiga left like, forever ago."
I turned slightly, confused to see that Shigaraki was gone.
"You mutter a lot, you know," Toga pointed out, shaking her head. "I guess I can't judge though. But we've better start going before Shiga-Kun gets super mad!"
I gave a slight nod, glancing towards Twice who shrugged before nodding.
"Sorry...," I mumbled. Afterwards, Toga motioned for me to follow her, and I did so along with Twice.
"So, Deku-Kun, how's life been treatin' ya?" she grinned as she ran.
"Not well," I replied with an edge to my voice.
To my surprise, she smiled slightly. "Sorry about that. But we didn't really have a choice. It's not like you would've come willingly."
After getting over my initial shock, I scoffed. "Of course I wouldn't. This is horrible. I don't want to be a villain!"
She giggled and smiled. "It's not that bad once you get used to it. Right, Twicey?" she turned towards him."
He shook his head. "It's awful!!" However, he almost immediately made his voice a bit higher and replied with a completely different response. "Right, Toga!"
I furrowed my brows. "What?" What's up with this guy??
"You know, people don't accept you very much if you're kinda weird," Toga said, still grinning but with a more serious voice. "Like, my quirk is totally villainous, wouldn't you say? I didn't really have any other choice. People judge." After a moment, she became a bit more bubbly again. "Besides, living all free like this is really fun!"
These personality changes are giving me a headache... "I see...," I mumbled.
"Oh, oh!" Toga suddenly skidded to a stop, causing me to nearly fall into her, "Stop!"
I barely kept myself upright, holding my breath as I straightened myself. "Why did you do that?!"
"Shh!" she whispered, pressing her finger to her lips. Her eyes then shifted to the side, "They're right there!"
I glanced around the corner and, sure enough, there was a building with a few guards standing out front. "Oh," I said, my voice lowered.
"Welp!" she grinned, "Time to go stab some guys!"
My eyes widened. "Wait, what?!" I whisper-yelled.
"Oh, be quiet, Deku-Kun," she brushed me off, "We're just injuring them to make sure they never try to mess with us or anyone else again. We're not killing them - or else we'd get noticed or whatever."
That... Doesn't help your case, I wanted to say, but I just ran my fingers through my hair, letting out a sigh. "Alright," I mumbled. "Then what's the plan?"
"Huuuh?" she raised a brow. "Plan?"
"We have a plan?" Twice piped up confusedly.
I blinked. "You're kidding. We came here and we don't have a plan?!"
"Stabbing guys was the plan, basically," Toga shrugged.
I so badly wanted to facepalm. "Alright," I sighed, motioning for them to come closer. "Then here's what we'll do."
---
"Ready?" I asked with a motion, eyes sharply trained on the building. If Toga was right, the gang should've been hosting some sort of private party for the day.
Toga gave a thumbs up from her station, while Twice nodded from his (well, he shook his head as well, but I assumed he was ready nonetheless).
I nodded as well, giving the signal to begin.
Smiling, Toga skipped over to the front, and I strained my ear to hear.
"Hey guys!" she grinned gleefully. "Is this like, the party place or whatever?"
The guards looked between each other.
"I heard there was a totally awesome party here, y'know?" she smiled sweetly.
The two men began to converse before turning towards her. "What's your name?" one asked.
"Toga Himiko," she grinned.
One of the guards glanced down, scanning through his list. "You're not here," he said after a moment. "I'm going to have to ask you to leave."
She furrowed her brows. "Whaaat? But the bossman told me I was invited!"
"You must've been mistaken," a guard said. "Now leave."
Toga gritted her teeth. "Are you telling me that I'm lying? God, who even pays you idiots?! Let me in!"
One of the guards nodded at the other, causing him to reach for his weapon. "Leave or we'll need to use force."
"Oh my GOD!" she said, eyes widening. "Are you THREATENING me?!" she shrieked. "I can't believe you'd DO that!"
My eyes flicked over to where a man stood, watching the whole encounter. "Are you two threatening someone?" he raised a brow.
The guards froze before glancing between each other again. "We're just asking her to leave," one answered.
The man ignored them. "Do I need to call the police, ma'am?" he turned towards Toga.
She gasped. "Oh, thank you! Someone reasonable! Yes! God, these two threatened me and told me I was a liar!"
"Now wait," one of the guards said. "You just weren't invited. We're not-"
"Call them, now!" Toga yelled towards the man. He simply nodded, pressing a phone to his ear.
The guards must've panicked, as the one with the clipboard from before glanced back down at it.
"Ah, I must've been mistaken," he lied through his teeth, smiling, "It says your name right here. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding."
Toga put on a smile. "God, finally! Thanks, boys!" she winked before stepping behind them.
They both let out a sigh of relief before Toga turned around quickly and swiftly knocked the two out.
Twice and I both stepped out of the light as Twice's clone turned into a pile of goo.
"That took way more effort than it was worth," Toga said annoyedly. "I could've done that in like, 2 seconds if you just let me attack them."
"Hey now," I said, "If you would've done that, they would've alerted everyone else that we were here."
Toga sighed. "I guess."
"Anyways, we should be able to get inside now."
"Ugggh," Twice groaned. "Awh yes!"
I gave an awkward smile before the three of us pushed the door open, wandering into the building.
The thumping from outside had instantly transformed into loudly-blasting music, with a large amount of likely drunk (or on some sort of drugs) people danced about, hollering and chatting.
We each put on a smile, as we pushed through the crowd.
"Do we even know where the main guy is?" I asked through my fake smile.
Toga glanced up for a moment. "I'm pretty sure he's on the top floor hanging out in his office or something. There'll probably be some guards, though."
I sighed. "That's fine as long as we can get around them." I spotted the stairs, pushing towards them. "Let's just-"
"Heeey there - hic!" a girl about my age smiled.
I frowned at her drunkenness, especially due to her age, but I quickly turned my expression back into a friendly smile. "Hello."
"Wanna like - hic - dance or whatever?" she slurred, smiling.
I laughed awkwardly. "Oh, I don't dance," I tried to turn her down politely.
"Ughhh, c'mon, buzzkill," she elbowed me, causing me to wince slightly. She then grabbed onto my wrist and began dragging me away. "Lets just gooo."
I shot a look towards Toga and Twice, both of which were already on the case.
Toga put on a strained smile, grabbing my other hand. "Sorry, creep, but he's already with me."
The girl shot Toga a mean look. "Don't hog him."
"Now, now, ladies," Twice attempted to calm the two, "Just-"
"Shut up, you masked weirdo!" she raised her hand, attempting to slap him.
However, Toga quickly caught her hand, giving her an evil glare. "Don't you dare hit my friend." I, along with the girl, were taken aback by her words. She almost immediately dropped my hand and looked as if she wanted to get in Toga's face, but was shooed off by Toga's glare.
"Whatever, b****," she grumbled, walking away angrily.
"Wooo-hee!" Toga suddenly exclaimed, letting out a sigh of relief and dropping my hand. She then looked up at me and Twice, grinning. "Glad that's over!"
My eyes were wide. "Wh-"
"Now!" she cut me off, "Let's get upstairs! These weirdos are putting me off."
Before I could attempt to speak, her and Twice headed towards the stairs. Why... Did she help us? Isn't she supposed to be evil?
"Deku-Kun!" Toga called out, "Aren'tcha coming?!"
I glanced up confusedly before realizing where I was. "Huh? Oh, yeah..." I awkwardly followed behind her and walked up the stairs.
What's going on...?
