Friends
oof a long-ish chapter xDD
---
Heart pounding, I grabbed my lunch. I clenched the tray tightly, eyes darting around in an attempt to find Uraraka.
Suddenly, my shoulders tensed, a yelp escaping my lips. As everyone around me stared, I felt my face becoming hot. Laughing nervously, I turned around, only to see a kid handing me a bowl I had forgotten.
"Oh... Thanks...," I coughed awkwardly, taking the bowl and placing it on my tray. As he walked away, I breathed out a sigh of relief, laughing to myself for being so nervous.
It'll be fine. Uraraka invited you. Don't worry about it.
Biting my lip, I glanced around more slowly. Eventually, I spotted the familiar brunette, chatting away with a few others. At her table sat a boy with glasses, and to the side a few girls from the class.
Taking a deep breath, I put on a strained smile before walking over.
When I stood to the side of the table, I cleared my throat, catching each of their attention.
Most of them stared at me, eyes tracing my every movement. Maaaaybe this was a mistake...
"Well?" Uraraka smiled, causing my fear to die down. "Aren't you going to sit?"
The girls' eyes widened. "WHAT?!" they all shouted.
"Oh, be quiet!" Uraraka said. "I invited him, alright?"
The boy with the glass silently sat, though I could feel his anger directed towards me.
"I-it's fine," I smiled, getting ready to sit alone once again.
"No, no!" Uraraka shook her head. "I already said you could join me. Don't worry about it."
Gulping, I stiffly took a seat next to Uraraka.
"So, your name's Midoriya. I remembered that right, yeah?" she asked.
"Yup!" I said in a high-pitched voice.
I heard a snort from the girls' table, causing me to blush slightly.
"You know, you could relax a little," a pink girl grinned.
I glanced over at her, surprised. "You're... Talking to me?"
Although it seemed impossible, her face became slightly pinker. "Oh, y'know," she laughed nervously, rubbing the back of her neck. She shook her head before smiling. "If Uraraka thinks you're alright, you must be, yeah?"
After a moment of silence, I furrowed my brows. "Am... Am I supposed to respond?"
The girl next to her - looking like the punk type - cracked a small smile.
"I guess not," the pink girl laughed. "Anyways," she stuck out her hand, "I'm Mina Ashido."
I nervously smiled, shaking her hand awkwardly. "Izuku Midoriya. Though...," I furrowed my brows, "Everyone keeps calling me Deku..." The tabes visibly tensed up, causing me to become suspicious. "Hmm...?"
"Oh, it's really nothing!" Uraraka laughed nervously.
"Yeah!" Mina glanced to the side, "Don't worry about it."
"Uhm... Okay...?" I said, almost questioning my words.
"Anyways!" Ashido grinned, putting her arm around the punk-rock girl. "This is Jiro and," she pointed to the girl across from her, "This is the president of our class - Yaoyorozu!"
Both girls looked nervous.
"Oh!" I smiled towards Yaoyorozu. "Thanks for what you did in class."
She looked confused for a moment before putting it together. "Huh...? Oh, yes! Uhm... You're welcome."
"And hey," I grinned, turning towards Jiro, "I noticed your bag. You like 'Blue Moon' too, right? I just found their music, it's pretty good!" (lol I just thought of 2 words and decided they were a band xDD)
Jiro smiled. "Yeah. They're one of my favorites."
Uraraka punched me playfully. "Look at you, Mr. Popular."
I felt my face become hot. "Oh..."
"Man, you get embarrassed way too easily!" Ashido grinned.
"Sorry," I smiled sheepishly.
The kid with the glasses stood up, lunch in his hands.
"Iida," Uraraka said, confused, "Where are you going?"
Iida responded quickly. "I apologize for my rudeness. I, however, am having troubles with our guest."
I glanced down, sighing before smiling at Iida. "It's totally cool. I can go, it's fine."
"Midoriya...," Uraraka said sympathetically.
I turned towards her, attempting to keep my smile. "I invaded, I understand. I don't want him to have to go because of me."
Grabbing my things, I got up, ready to go back to my little corner.
Tears threatened to spill from my eyes, but I forced my smile to remain. Though, I'm sure my lip trembled.
Iida sighed. "Wait, Midoriya."
I paused for a moment.
"You can stay. The way I was acting was incredibly rude. I apologize," he said.
I turned around, cheeks stained with tears. The students' eyes widened - especially Iida's. "N-no, I don't want you to be forced t-to hang out with me."
Iida froze before bowing towards me, causing my eyes to widen in surprise. "No, please stay. In fact, I request that you do. I truly am sorry for misjudging you."
"Oh, you don't need to do that!" I replied hastily, gesturing towards his bow. After a few moments, he stood back up, his body entirely straight before he took a seat.
"I understand that you've lost your memory, yes?" Iida asked.
I nodded. "That's what everyone has been telling me."
"Ah. Well, it must've been strange to move back in with your parents," he smiled.
My eyes widened. "Parents?"
"Oh! Was that insensitive?" Iida asked, voice apologetic.
Ashido raised a brow. "Do you not have any parents?"
"Ashido!" Iida scolded.
I laughed nervously. "It's fine, I guess... Uhm...," I glanced to the side, furrowing my brows as I attempted to remember. However, my mind turned up blank. "I don't know. I've just been living with All Might..."
"All Might?!" Ashido gasped, while the rest of them stared at me wide-eyed.
"Is that... weird?" I asked.
"Well, kinda! I mean-" Ashido corrected herself when she noticed Iida's look, "He's the number one hero and all!"
My jaw dropped. "Really?!"
Uraraka nodded quickly. "Mhm. He's saved like, thousands of people."
I was still awestruck. Him? But he looks so... Small?
"What kind of quirk does he have?" I questioned.
Jiro shrugged. "No one knows."
"Though," Yaoyorozu mentioned, joining in on the conversation. "Most speculate that it's some sort of super strength or physical booster due to his extreme strength and speed."
I furrowed my brows, attempting to think of such a lean man as a large and powerful hero. "But-" I began, but suddenly felt a hand on my head.
Glancing up, I saw a large, blonde man in a superhero costume.
"Who-"
"All Might!" the others gasped.
My eyes widened. Are they the same person?!
"Aha! Hello, students! If you don't mind, I'd like to borrow Young Midoriya here for a moment!" he grinned. Each of them nodded and he took that as confirmation, motioning for me to follow.
Confused, I left with him, and he quickly pulled me into the hall before shrinking down to his normal size.
"Woah!" I shouted, grinning.
All Might sighed. "Look, kid. Don't speak about this form to anyone else, all right?"
"Strange," I mumbled to myself, "I don't know much about quirks but usually people only have one - well I heard of some who have two but normally they're two halves to one whole quirk - and according to Yaoyorozu I'm pretty sure yours is some sort of strength augment-"
"Kid!" All Might blurted, catching my attention. "Cool it with the muttering," he said, breathing out a sigh of relief. Blushing, I nodded. "Anyways," he turned towards me, "It's not really a quirk. You know how some guys suck in their stomach at the pool? It's kinda like that."
"That doesn't make-"
"Anyways," he cut me off, "This is how I look most of the time. However...," he quickly transformed into his muscle form before changing back. "That is how I look here and as a hero. Don't go mentioning my other form to students."
"Incredible...," I mumbled to myself.
All Might cleared his throat. "Now that we've got that settled, I'll be off."
I grinned. "Thanks, All Might."
The man simply nodded before walking off down the hallway, leaving me to go back to the table, where the students talked amongst themselves. However, as soon as they spotted me, they stared expectantly.
"Well?!" Ashido blurted. "What'd he say?!"
Laughing, I sat down. "Nothing important."
"C'mon," Ashido whined. "I want the details!"
"Now, Mina," Iida spoke sternly, "If Midoriya doesn't want to share, he doesn't have to."
Ashido sighed, crossing her arms. "Fine."
"Thanks, Iida," I smiled.
He looked taken aback for a moment. "O-oh! You're very welcome! Always glad to help!"
"Very heroic of you," Uraraka teased.
Iida scratched his chin, smiling. "I'd hope so."
"Heroes, huh?" I said. "How come you guys all wanna be them so bad?"
They all tensed up for a moment, and I could sense their discomfort was directed towards me.
I furrowed my brows. "Did I say something wrong...?"
Uraraka laughed nervously. "Oh, of course not! We're just not used to you asking us like t-" She suddenly smacked her hand over her mouth, eyes wide.
"Huh?"
"Really, Midoriya," Yaoyorozu smiled, "Don't worry about it."
"Yeah, sorry for being on edge so much," Ashido laughed, leaning back in her chair.
"Oh, okay," I smiled slightly, deciding just to accept their answers. After all... I grinned at the scene before me, with friends chatting around me so casually. It's nice as it is.
---
I laughed as I talked to Uraraka and Iida. "Yeah, I'm actually kind of excited for class now," I mentioned.
"Well, I'm glad you can enjoy it!" Uraraka smiled.
I nodded, pushing the door to 1A open when my stomach dropped.
"Midoriya, what's wrong?" Uraraka asked, though the rest of her words were quickly drowned out by the sound of my own heartbeat.
I stood tensely, staring at a kid near the back, his hair two different shades. The one from my dream. He stared at me with a mixture of curiosity and hatred in his eyes, though I was concerned with the bile rising in my throat.
Slapping my hands over my mouth, I felt my throat begin to burn. As I bent down, puke spewed from my lips, splattering everywhere around me. Though, I was too preoccupied to notice the mess dripping down my clothes, with my legs giving up from under me.
I began falling to the ground, but was quickly caught by Iida.
"Midoriya, are you alright?!" Uraraka gasped.
My throat felt raw and my body shook, messy fingers trembling as I moved them from my mouth.
Slowly, I pointed towards the kid with the two-toned hair. "H-h-he... No. He's dead."
"What? You're not making any sense, Midoriya," Iida said frantically, dropping his usual composure.
I panicked, running my fingers through my hair. "I saw it. He died. He's real. No. No. No."
Suddenly, I felt as Aizawa's scarf wrapped around me, pulling me off the ground. He rushed over, concerned. "What happened to him?"
Uraraka looked like she didn't know what to say. "I don't know... H-he was fine. And then he walked in and he just..."
"He was concerned with Todoroki, for some reason," Iida added quickly.
Todoroki. That's his name. I raised my head, chest heaving. Tears dripped from my eyes and my lips trembled.
"Midoriya," Aizawa said. After eliciting no response from me, he raised his voice. "Midoriya!"
Snapping my head towards him, I stared at him, mind frantic.
"What's going on?" he asked, voice calm but with a slight edge.
Tears streamed down my cheeks. "I watched him die. I killed him."
And the room fell silent.
