-x- Izuku Midoriya's POV -x-

Yawning, I walked into the school. Although I was tired, it was for good reason. Honestly, I couldn't stop thinking about trying out my new hero costume. And, even more than that, I hadn't heard the strange voice since the night before.

"Izuku!" a voice chirped behind me, causing me to jump.

Turning around, I glanced behind me, blushing at who I saw. "Oh, hey Uraraka," I laughed, rubbing the back of my neck nervously.

"Tired?" she asked, walking with me.

I nodded, a soft smile on my face. "I was really excited for today." After a moment, I felt the tips of my ears heat up. "But is it really that obvious?" I asked, turning towards her embarrassedly.

She gave a slight laugh. "Well, you just seemed kinda out of it. I assumed it was because you were tired for some reason. Oh," she remembered, "How was the ride home yesterday? Did everything go alright?"

I smiled nervously. "If you can call a train robbery 'going alright.'" Her eyes widened, and I moved my hands frantically back and forth. "No one was hurt or anything. I was a bit scared, but Kirishima and I handled it. The guy's in jail now."

Uraraka blinked at me before shaking her head and mumbling under her breath. "I can't believe you don't see how amazing you are"

I leaned my head towards her slightly. "What was that?"
"Nothing!" She began laughing nervously before it reduced to a soft cough. After a moment, she cleared her throat with a reddish face and continued. "Annnnyways, is there a reason you're so excited for today?"

A large grin spread across my face. "You'll see in All Might's class."

Uraraka raised a brow. "Oh?"

I laughed. "I can't tell you yet, or it wouldn't be as cool."

She smiled. "I can't wait to see then. Must be awesome if you're so excited about it."

"Yeah." I rubbed the back of my neck nervously, blushing. "I mean, I'm sure nobody else cares as much as I do, but I'm happy, y'know?"

"All that matters is you're happy, right?" Uraraka offered. "Though, I bet it'll be awesome!"

"I hope so, or I'll feel like I hyped this up for nothing," I laughed.

"I mean-"
"Hello, there!" a familiar voice called out, footsteps nearing us quickly.

Turning around, I saw as Iida sped up to us, waving.

Laughing, I turned as he joined us. "Hey, Iida."

"How are you two?" he asked. "I apologize I didn't join you sooner - I was helping the teachers with my extra time!"

"I'm great," I replied, smiling.

"Is there a specific reason?" he asked curiously.

Uraraka laughed. "He won't tell until All Might's class."

"I can respect a surprise!" he nodded, hand on his chin.

"Oh, by the way, what did you mean by 'extra time,' Iida?" I asked.

He turned his head towards me. "I pride myself on getting to school early every day!" he grinned, hands on his hips.

"How early?" Uraraka asked.

"Oh, usually around 45 minutes early, but sometimes an hour or so," he replied casually.

Uraraka and I exchanged glances before turning towards Iida, eyes wide.

He furrowed his brows. "Is there something wrong with that?"

"No, no," I smiled awkwardly, "It's just that it seems pretty wearisome. Don't you get tired?"

"Nonsense!" he shook his head. "U.A. is a prestigious academy and I am lucky to go here! I must be prepared for learning extra early every day!"

Uraraka and I laughed along to Iida's continuous praise of U.A., and the three of us continued chatting on our way into school. Honestly, it was the happiest I'd felt in a while.

Everything was going perfectly.

It's strange how, even after situations that spark pure joy, negativity can rear its ugly head and ruin everything in an instant.

As my feet pounded against the cemented floors, I grinned, excited to be in my new costume. The outfit fit perfectly and was everything I could've dreamed of, and I got to wear it.

"Hey, Izuku!" Uraraka waved at me, smiling, "You're here!"

Tossing a smile back, I stopped next to her, taking in deep breaths. "Hi Uraraka."

"You're-oh, hey!" she looked at me up and down, letting out a slight gasp. "Is this what you were so excited about? That's so amazing, Izuku!"

I nodded, giving a slight laugh. "I know it's not anything super extraordinary or anything, but I was really excited."

"No, no," she smiled, causing my heart to beat a little faster, "I'm happy that you finally got a hero costume. I know you've been wanting one for a while."

As I felt my cheeks heat up, I heard another voice from nearby.

"Hello, Midoriya!" Iida walked up to me, glancing up and down as well. "I see you've finally gotten a costume! Congratulations! That's one of the first steps to becoming an amazing hero!" he said cheerfully.

"Thanks, Iida," I chuckled. Though, as I spoke with the two, I couldn't help but feel as if I were being watched.

"Alright, students!" All Might grinned, grabbing the class' attention, "It's time for our training exercise!"

The man waited for everyone to be quiet before continuing. "Do you all remember the first exercise your class completed? Aside from Midoriya, of course."

"Yes, sir," the class replied all at once.

"Great!" he grinned. "Because we'll be completing this exercise again."

A commotion rose amongst the crowd, clear confusion on the faces of many.

"All Might, sir!" Iida raised his hand. Once All Might nodded at him, he asked his question. "May I ask why we'd be doing the same exercise? How would it be beneficial for us to do the same thing?"

"Maybe we'll get different partners so we know how to work with other people too?" Ojiro suggested, and for some reason he seemed a bit worried.

"Great question, Iida! And Ojiro, good guess, but no!" he said, "We'll be doing the same activity we completed once before." After seeing the confused faces of the crowd, he continued. "Like last time, you'll be placed on teams of villain versus hero. You'll be with the same partners, as well. To put it in simple terms, today we're testing your growth."

"Ohhh, that makes sense," Uraraka commented.

"Yeah, we'll see how our strategy changes and stuff!" Mina agreed.

"Exactly, my students!" All Might grinned triumphantly. "Now, since Young Midoriya is with us," he glanced towards me, "We don't need to have anyone do an extra round. Instead, Uraraka - who was without a full partner last time - will be partnered with you, alright?"
My eyes widened slightly, and Uraraka and I exchanged a glance. As she smiled at me, I felt my cheeks begin to heat up. "Uhm.. Y-yes, sir!" I replied nervously.

"Alright," he grinned, "You'll be pitted against the team she fought last time - Team D, Bakugo and Iida!"

Although I was happy to be with Uraraka, my heart suddenly fell. I wasn't exactly sure why, but I felt strong malice coming from the blonde, and I was almost positive I had caught him staring at me before. Not to mention, his interactions with me had all been relatively aggressive.

"Y-yes sir," I said more quietly, nodding.

"Great! Now, the only thing that's changed this time was the order of the fights. Worry not, because I've already decided on which matches will go first!"

Although I kept on a smile as I stood next to Uraraka, I couldn't help but gulp. I could almost feel his eyes piercing through me. It was almost as if the boy wanted me dead.

"The first matchup," All Might announced, "Will be Todoroki and Shoji versus Ojiro and Hagakure!"

I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. I was safe.

At least for now.
