Prologue:
Wanda felt Natasha's arms wrap tightly around her. They both were filled with shocked horror. Wanda could barely process what happened. And clearly, everyone else felt the same way. Steve walked over to them. He sat down next to them.
"What the h*** just happened?" Thor asked shakily.
"I think... I think we failed," Steve said, sounding more shaken than Wanda had ever heard from him.
She glanced over at the body of Vision and lost it, breaking down into tears. His death was for nothing. NOTHING. She had lost the last person who truly, deeply knew her, who still loved her unconditionally anyway. She felt like her heart was being ripped out of her chest- nearly the same as when Pietro died. Though the death of her twin brother was arguably slightly worse.
Natasha tried to say something, but failed. Wanda could feel the older woman's tears dripping down.

Two weeks later, Wanda was sitting in a room on a table. She was slightly swinging her legs. A woman named Carol Danvers had arrived earlier that day. Wanda had never really heard of the woman, but she was apparently a friend of Fury's. Her moniker was Captain Marvel, and she apparently more powerful than Wanda herself. Wanda couldn't help but be impressed with that.
Wanda tugged on a lock of her hair as she watched them flip through pictures of their lost teammates.
"Does anyone have any word on Fury?" Natasha asked.
There was a chorus of no's, and several of them sighed. Wanda didn't really think too much of Fury, she'd only met him a few times. But she knew he was important to a lot of these people.
The conversation droned on, but Wanda wasn't listening. She was stuck in a feeling of depersonalization. Again. She could hear and understand the conversation just fine, but quickly forgot most of what they said. Only a few phrases stuck in her head. She wanted to say something, but every time her mind formed a phrase, it was too late to answer. So she just sat in silence.
There was a commotion. She looked up. To her surprise, she saw Tony. He appeared to be arguing or something with Steve. Suddenly he ripped out his arc reactor, making Wanda jump slightly in surprise. He forced it into Steve's hand before collapsing. People immediately rushed to help him.
Wanda couldn't find the energy to move, so she just watched the scene unfold. After a minute, she found the needed energy. She got up and started walking. But not to Tony. She walked straight to her room to lay down on her bed, where she fell asleep.
She woke up to a knock on her door. She tilted her head in the direction and Natasha opened the door. "Hey, kid."
Wanda simply huffed.
"Ummm, most of us are going on a mission for a few days. Can you hold down the fort?"
"Sure."
Nat sighed and walked over to the younger woman. "I'm sorry about what happened Wanda. Pepper and Tony will be here, too ok? Pepper will probably check in from time to time if you don't show your face."
"Do I have to go see Tony?" Wanda grumbled.
"Not if you don't want to."
"Good." She still wasn't over the whole getting-them-arrested incident. The Raft wasn't a fond memory. She still had a scar on her neck from the shock collar. She rubbed her throat self-consciously.
"See you soon, Maximoff."
Wanda hummed in reply.
Nat left the room, gently closing the door behind her, leaving Wanda staring at the ceiling.
A few days later, they returned, crestfallen and angry. Nat looked Wanda in the eye and just shook her head. And that was when Wanda knew it was over for good. Though 'good' probably wasn't the right word.
