First of all I want to thank everyone out there who have read and voted for my story. And I want apologize for not updating for almost a month. I had tests going on in class and did not get time to update. I also want inform you all that edited all the chapter and have made minor changes in them. I corrected as many mistakes as I could find. 

∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆

Severus Snape stood in the porch waiting for Lily Evans and her family to come out. It 10 am and they still had another hour to reach on Platform 9 and 3/4. But since it took nearly 40 minutes to reach there, they all had to leave early.

" Sevvy ", Lily cried as she rushed forward and hugged him. Lily, her parents and Petunia had gone on trip to Egypt for summer and had return just a day before. So, Severus had not been able to meet her for almost a month. ''So Lils , how was your vacation ? " Severus asked. 

" Pretty Great. We enjoyed a lot. We even went see Pyramids. You won't believe what I got for you. I give it to you once we reach Hogwarts. And what about you ?", Lily asked, her eyes shining with excitement. 

"Same and usual. Nothing special" , Severus said, shrugging his shoulders. While all children loved vacations, Severus loathed them. It was mostly because of his father, Tobias Snape. He was drunk most of the time and his mother, Eileen Snape , was always busy trying to meet their ends, especially for young Severus. She wanted Severus to study well and be successful in his life and struggled for it. Severus, wanting to help his mother, worked in nearby muggle cafes and restaurants. It was not much, but still, it satisfied him that he was able to contribute to family expenses.

" So, kids, Shall we leave ?", Jacob Evans asked, heaving Severus and Lily's trunks in the boot of the car. " Yes ...." , Lily said excitedly. 

Jacob Evans got into the driving sit while Daisy Evans got in beside him. Petunia went and sat in the backseat of the car, with Lily and Severus next to her. Lily sat in between Petunia and Severus because they both couldn't stand each other and it was a complete miracle that they had gotten into the car together.

Since, Lily's parents had an important meeting to attend, they dropped off Severus and Lily at Kingscross Station. Lily's small, brown owl ' Nyx' was kept in a cage. She had named her, based on the name of Greek goddess of Night and it was logical, since owls practically ruled the night.

Severus and Lily entered the platform. It was crowded as usual. They stopped near a pillar, since they had some time before they could board the train. Lily began to tell him about her trip. He just scanned the crowd hoping to see some familiar faces, when he spotted his arch nemesis, James Potter and Sirius Black standing with some strange boy. 'No doubt that they telling him dirt about me and rest of the Slytherins. ' Severus thought.

Just then the boy turned to look at them. 'Not another Potter, one is bad enough.', Severus groaned  internally. Out of all marauders, Remus was the only one agaisnt whom he did not hold any grudge. James and Sirius had made fun of him , right from the movement they had set their eyes on him. And Peter, though he did not take any part in teasing him, he encouraged them by praising them. Remus on the other hand had tried to apologize several times for his friends' mistake. He could see remorse in Remus' eyes every time they teased him. 

Severus was so deep in thought that he didn't realise Lily had stopped talking. She waved hand in front of his eyes and said, " You did not listen to even a single word that I said, did you ?"

" Umm, Sorry. I was thinking. " Severus said. " It's ok. We need some time to think over the things. Well, shall we board the train ?" Lily said with a look of understanding on her face. 

Severus nodded and picked up his trunk and Lily did the same.Finally, after a bit of searching Lily and Severus found an empty compartment, where they settled down. They sat talking to each regarding several topics. 

After some time Lily left saying that she had to meet her friends. Strangely enough as compared to how well Lily and Severus got along, Lily's friends, Alice Prewett and Marlene Mckinnon did not. They pretty much hated even the sight of Severus. So, In the end Lily had to balance her time her friends and Severus equally, which was pretty much a hectic job for her.

Severus really wondered at times, if he had a normal family like others instead of the one he lived with. They never had enough money, especially because of his father's drinking problem. He always wondered why his mother had married this worthless man whom he called his father.

Really, Eileen was a bright witch, who was renowned in the wizarding world for her experiments with potions. On the top of that she was a pureblood. But she had married a worthless muggle who had a drinking problem and was jobless which had resulted to her parents disowning her. And now since she did not have time and money to invest in her experiments, she worked as a clerk at a small bookshop in Diagon Alley. She even did several odd jobs whenever she got time.

Eileen could have left Tobias and put an end to the sufferings, but she did not. She wanted Severus to grow up with both of his parents, even though one of them was useless. If Eileen would have left Tobias, she would have gained all her wealth back as well as the prestige,  but she could not not bring herself to leave Tobias. She was blinded by love. 

Severus always wished to changed it all. He had decided once he would start earning, he would make sure that his mother got everything that she deserved. He wanted to be so powerful that no one would be able to trouble him and his mother. He knew that he would have struggle a lot in order to achieve it and he was prepared to face it. He would be so powerful that his father wouldn't be able to do anything to them.

He was so absorbed in his thoughts that he didn't even see Lily entering the compartment since it was nearly the time to reach Hogwarts . Lily was his best friend. They had been friends even since they were kids. She was the only one who didn't shove him aside because he was poor and was in Slytherin. She always offered him a ear to listen to all his problems and made him smile even in the direst condition. She always stood up for him when any one troubled him. 

Lily asked, " Sev, Are you alright ? I mean , you have been thinking a lot since we met. I just wanted to assure you that I am here to listen to all your problems. Just let out the load of your mind and don't overthink. I am here for you."

'I am here for you.' These five words meant a lot for Severus. For anyone else they were just words but for him, it was like an elixir. These five made a lot difference in his life. Just an assurance that someone believed him right from bottom of their heart was enough for Severus. He knew that he would cherish these five words in his mind for his entire life.

Through this chapter, I just wanted to show in what way childhood has a effect on person's life. We all know that Severus decided to become a death eater in his teenage years. [ Though he became a spy later.] And how much he hated the students who had ' perfect ' life. He did not hate muggleborns when he was younger or else he never would have befriended Lily but after losing his first friend and the example of his muggle father, he started to hate them with passion. But in the end, after Lily's death, he did realise his mistake. Maybe if his childhood would have been different then the outcome too would have changed.

Hope you all like the chapter ! I know it was quite different from the rest of the chapters but it was necessary. Suggestions, ideas are welcome. Forgive for mistakes, if any. Do comment about your opinion of the chapter. And if you think I should write more chapters in similar fashion, do say so.
