Chapter 20 - A Little Tradition Lesson
"Mrrah! Human! Lemme- go!" Grim yowls out as he stays tied to your chest in a make-shift stretchy baby wrap you made from your jacket, his ears pinned down.
"You'll never become a "great mage" if you never go to class!" You scold Grim, feeling annoyed. "Next time, don't run off!"
"UGH! When did you get all bossy? I..." Grim trails off at the ice cold look you give him. It's colder than any Ice Beam any Pokémon could fire off. "..."
You and your group strolls into the cafeteria, that's filled with students eating and chatting with eachother. You pull your hat a little lower on your head to avoid dragging attention to yourself, but thankfully everyone seems distracted.
Grim looks excited as you untie your jacket and set him down.
"Okay, Grim, I'll let you go to get food. If you try to run off every again, I'm never letting you out from being tied to my body." You say as you give the cat a serious look.
Deuce coughs quickly, and you swear to Arceus you hear, "I wouldn't mind being tied up by you-"
"What?" You ask as you look back at him.
"Nothing!" The blue-haired boy blurts out, looking flustered.
You look at Moonstone and shrugs, and the Umbreon sits up on her hind legs to shrug back. The people here are so weird...
You grab a tray, looking out at the buffet in mild surprise. "It's even bigger than the one back home..."
"Woo! Look at all that good-lookin' grub!" Grim excitedly calls out as he grabs a tray, hopping up onto the lip of the counter to rest the trays on as you get food.
"...uh..." You raise an eyebrow at you look at everything. "...is there anything vegetarian..?"
Ace raises an eyebrow at you. "You're vegetarian?"
"Oh, yeah." You nod quickly. "I refuse to eat Pokémon. And also the animals in this world. So many of them are so cute, how can I possibly eat them? And I'm guessing most "meats" here aren't artificially made like they are made back home..."
"Uh... no." The orange-haired boy says with a shake of his head.
"Look how fluffy those omelets are! Ooh, grilled chicken! And a bacon and egg tart!" Grim drools out, almost screeching with how loud he's being.
Ace cringes at how loud Grim is being. "Shhhh- dude! Inside voices! Where was this energy during classes?"
You sigh, shaking your head as you look at a ghost behind the counter. "Uh- excuse me, but can you please tell me what the vegetarian foods are?"
"Everything marked with a "v" on the little label card, miss." The ghost cheerfully responds.
"Thank you." You reply with a smile, looking at the food as you grab what catches your eyes that you can eat. You also put food on your plate for Moonstone.
When the group walks a bit ahead of you and you have the space, you send out some of your Pokémon. Not everyone, just Chile (your Skeledirge), Grace (your Milotic), Bangbang (your Tinkaton), Chompers (your Garchomp), Koraidon, Miraidon, and Sweet Apple (your Hydrapple).
"Okay, food everyone! Don't take too much, we don't have much money here... same thing I said as yesterday." You direct your 'Mons. They nod and you help the Pokémon that don't have hands get trays and food.
"Myah! Hench-human, grab me the grilled chicken! There's only one left! And an omelet too. And that jelly-filled bread! Just fill the whole tray with 'em!" Grim yowls back at you, and you roll your eyes as you approach.
"Slow your roll, pequeño gato de fuego. You're going to burst your stomach with everything you're eating." You retort playfully, amused by tha cat-monster's antics.
"I can eat this much all the time! Myah-ha!" Grim laughs before he hops off the counter, holding his tray above his head as he runs a bit to find a table, before crashing into a random student and barely holding onto his tray. "Ow!"
"Hey! Watch where you're goin'!" The student whirls around to glare at Grim before looking at his tray-with a wide-eyed stare. "M- my carbonara! You broke the yolk!"
Another student- presumably the first student's friend- shakes his head in disbelief. "Woah! That's messed up! Pokin' the egg is the best part! You better make this right, pal!"
You would describe the students, but they don't seem important so you won't.
The first student glowers at Grim. "I'm gonna need that grilled chicken of yours as compensation."
An offended look crosses the cat-monster's face as he holds the tray away from the students, his ears pinning down. "Myah? No way! Hands off the bird, chump! I need my protein, 'cus I am hangry!"
"Hey! That's no way to speak to an upperclassman!" The first student growls out. "Catch me outside and I'll teach you some respect!"
A few more students join the two and advance on Grim. You immediately move forward, but Deuce steps in front of both you and Grim with a frown on the boy's face.
"Um- excuse me, sir- but it said in the handbook fighting with magic was prohibited."
The second student snorts. "Fighting? You got it all wrong. This is just me helpin' an ignorant freshman learns his place."
Another student in the group laughs. "Let's see just how many ways there are to skin a cat, heh!"
"Haha... no."
"Eh?" The second student looks at you, along with the other students in the group, as you step around Deuce and approach, your eyes cold. "Uh... what do you mean "no"?"
"I mean no." You say as you approach the students. "You're not fighting anyone. Isn't it fair to gang up on someone small? Face someone your own size... namely, me. So shut up and let me explain that this doesn't matter."
"Y/N, no-" Deuce starts, but you quiet him with a raise of your hand.
The first student scoffs. "C'mon, you? Look at me in the eyes, little miss. You're not scary at all. So I recommend you get out of the way-"
You cut him off by lunging and wrapping your arms around his neck and putting him in a headlock. "I said shut up. A fucking carbonara's broken egg isn't going to cause the end of the world, or your school career, or even ruin your lunch."
You tighten your hold just barely as a warning. "You know what will though? Pissing me off like you are now. It was an accident, and you blew it out of proportion because you have a massive ego, you little lechón cobarde. Don't fuck with my friends or myself. You understand?"
"Yes- yes!" The student wheezes out, looking terrified.
You put on an obviously fake smile and drop the student, taking a step-back to your horrified and amazed group and your calm and unbothered Pokémon. "Lovely. Now, apologize to Grim."
"I'm sorry, please don't kill me lady!" The first student grabs his food and runs off with his friends.
You watch him go with a cold glare, before sighing and turning around. "Sorry about that... I can't stand when my friends are harassed at all. Grim, are you okay?"
"Myah, yeah! But they took my chicken..." He says sadly, his ears drooping.
"Here, have my donut in exchange. It's no chicken for you, but it should be enough hopefully." You give the chocolate donut to the cat-monster, who's ears perk up as he purrs a bit.
Now, you read cats shouldn't have chocolate. Except Grim can safely eat rocks, so chocolate should be fine for him.
"Can we just have lunch already?" Ace groans a bit, holding his tray as he shakes back to his senses. "I missed breakfast and I'm about to collapse."
Deuce sighs. "I can't believe this. Textbook bullies at an academy that's supposed to be famous for producing exceptional mages... at least you're concerningly good at dealing with them Y/N..."
"Unfortunately, not everyone is a good person." You sigh, before smiling. "Dos de picas, as de corazones, pequeño gato de fuego, and my amazing Pokémon, let's go eat!"
You and your group strolls up to a crowded-ish table, and you're about to sigh and sit on the floor to eat with your Pokémon and let Ogerpon sit at the table like she deserves, before everyone sitting at the table gets up and leaves.
"....how convenient!" You say with a smile at the now-abandoned table. "An empty table! Feel free to sit everyone."
You sit at your table, smiling peacefully as Grim sits next to your and Ogerpon sits on your other side. Ace and Deuce sit across from you, your Pokémon taking verious seats at the table.
Grim happy munches on his grilled cheese, him purring like a Revaroom. "Mmmm! This sandwich is practically bursting with cheese!"
You make a small chuckle at the cat-monster, shaking your head. "Hey, you two. Since Grim and I only got to see the outside of your dorm, what's the inside like?"
Ace shrugs a bit. "It's neat I guess... looks like the inside of a castle to be honest, lots of card-related stuff too. I like it, when I'm able to actually stay there."
"You're welcome to start the paperwork exchanging to Ramshackle if you prefer. You'd technically be made Vice-Housewarden on default."
Ace looks like he's genuinely considering it to be honest.
"Hey!" Grim speaks up around a mouthfull of food. "What're the other dorms like?"
"...at least swallow before speaking, pequeño gato de fuego..." You say with a sigh.
"I'm sure you're familar with the statues of the Great Seven?" A new voice speaks up from behind you. "Night Raven College has a dorm themed after each one."
You, Poni, Moonstone, Grim, and the boys look up and see Cater approaching with a slight grin and a tray in hand.
"Oh, hello Cater!" You say with a smile. You're not entirely sure how to feel about him. On one hand, he seems a bit obsessed with the internet and willing to get others to do things for him he'd rather not do, but on the other hand he seems genuinely nice deep down and a friendly extrovert.
Poni climbs into your lap, dragging her tray with her to sit on your lap, as Cater sits down on your right where Poni was just sitting.
"Ha, sorry for makin' you move little cutie! Thanx tho."
...okay, you like him. He's being nice to Poni. Automatically a good person.
"Hey! You're that guy from the morning!" Ace points an accusatory finger at Cater with a glare.
Grim leans over to glower at Cater. "You tricked us into paintin' those dumb roses!
"Tricked is such an ugly word." Cater looked mock-offended with a sly grin. "Do you think I wanted to spend my morning painting roses? It's dorm policy! I was just following orders."
Deuce rolls his eyes. "And grinning like a fiend all the while..."
"Now, now, Deucey..." Cater teasingly scolds. "Outside of the dorm, I don't care what rules you follow. Here, I'm just a friendly mentor figure!"
...Cater here doesn't seem completely straight, if at all. Sexuality-wise that is. Eh, you don't mind. He seems nice, but you just want friends. Though you are a raging pansexual...
"Please, do not call me "Deucey"." Deuce says with an uncomfortable grimace with a tick of rage in his gaze.
...Deuce seems to be hiding something. Very well, but the slight hints he isn't always as well-behaved as he tries to be is there. You respect him though, so you won't pry into his past.
An amused laugh comes from behind you as a new student shows up. Grim yelps a bit and scrambles closer to you, joining Poni on sitting on your lap as the new student sits to the left of you.
"That's how Cater shows he cares." The new student says with an amused smile.
Okay, he's tall. You mean, not as tall as AZ, but still tall (no one's taller than AZ, he's like 305 centimeters). He has short, dark green hair with side-swept bangs. He also has warm hazel eyes with black-rimmed glasses over them and a small, black clover shaped marking on his left cheek. Also, he sounds like he's from Galar.
Ace quirks an eyebrow at the new arrival. "And who are you?"
"Ah, I should introduce myself." The new arrival smiles as he adjusts his glasses. "The name's Trey. Trey Clover."
He seems nice, like a big brotherly energy to people in the dorm he's in. Though he probably has some strange interests.
He leans a bit onto the table. "I'm a junior at Heartslabyul. And you must be Y/N, the new prefect of that dump of a- ah, I mean, rustic dorm."
You shrug. "Just be honest, the dorm looks like it's about to collapse with one strong gust of wind."
Trey chuckles a bit. "Eh, not wrong. I heard the whole story from Cater. Thanks for looking out for our boys yesterday."
You wave an absent-minded hand. "Eh, no issue, I'm more than happy to help out if necessary."
Ace crosses his arms. "I don't recall inviting you to sit with us..."
"Hey now, we're all from the same dorm, right?" Cater grins as he sets an arm around your shoulder. "Let's try to get along. Here, gimme your digits."
You raise an eyebrow, curious. "...eh, fine. Toto! Stop taking photos of that poor ghost and come here!"
Toto immediately stops taking photos of a very uncomfortable cafeteria ghost and flies back over with a grin. You grab the Rotom-Phone and hand it to Cater, and he types in his phone number.
"Hm? What's up with all of these pictures of you dressed like your little dog-looking companion? Or is it more like a cat?" Cater looks at you with a curious expression as he hands you back Toto.
You freeze, realizing you've just been caught. "Uh... so I'm kind of popular back home... it's because I'm both a champion-ranked trainer, the youngest Head Champion in Paldea, and... er... a bit of a popular idol-esc person... haha... let's not talk about it."
You sit very still as all the humans at the table stare silently at you, before you clear your throat. "So- uh- can you tell us about the dorms? Grim and I are confused, and I'm not sure Deuce or Ace have a better understanding of them than I do."
Everyone snaps back to their senses and Ace nods. "Before you get into the other dorms, I wouldn't mind learning more about others. Like, what's the deal with all this Queen of Hearts rule number whatever junk?"
"I'm sure you're familar with the legendary Queen of Hearts already?" Trey tilts his head. "She had to rule over a kingdom of weirdos, and did it by emphasizing order and making strict rules."
Cater nods. "Our dorm, Heartslabyul, is homage to her. By tradition, we wear armbands with the red and black of the Queen's dress. And we live by the rules she's created."
Grim rolls his eyes. "Can you make me any more bored?"
Cater ignores Grim. "Now, the degree to which we adhere to the rules depends on the sitting Housewarden. Past wardens have been much more lax."
"Riddle though?" Trey continues. "He doesn't mess around. Basically, you could say were honoring that tradition to the utmost extent possible."
Ace slouches, a grimace on his face. "Bleh, just my luck..."
"And the other dorms?" You ask curiously
"As Cater mentioned earlier, the dorms of this school are themed after the Great Seven." Trey informs us. "We have our dorm, Heartslabyul, modeled after the strictness of the Queen of Hearts."
He gestures towards a group of tables where's there's many other students wearing the same black-and-red arm bands on their right arms. You also notice Riddle sitting at the table, a small circle of students avoiding him like he's dangerous or something.
Trey continues. "To run down the rest of them for you, we have... Savanaclaw, based on the persistent spirit of the King of Beasts. Octavinelle, based on the benevolent heart of the Sea Witch. Scarabia, based on the mindful personality of the Sorcerer of the Sands. Pomefiore, based on the tenacity of the Fairest Queen. Ignihyde, based on the diligence of the king of the underworld. And finally Diasomnia, based on the noble spirit of the Thorn Fairy."
Welp, time to memorize more things along with your memory of the entire Pokémon type-chart and almost every single Pokémon move.
"A lot to take in but... not impossible." You nod a bit, smiling slightly.
"Those names are way to long!" Grim angrily throws his paws in the air, seeming to try to debunk your claim you said not even a second ago. "How's anyone except the hench-human supposed to remember 'em?"
Cater laughs, amused. "Well, you get the idea. Want to or not, you'll learn them soon enough."
Trey nods. "At orientation, the Dark Mirror picks a dorm for you based on the essence of your being. As a result, each dorm ends up with a distinct source of... flavor, we'll call it."
Cater nods with a cheeky grin. "That is sooooo true. I totes see it."
Deuce raises a hand to his chin, curious. "Flavor, huh..?"
"For example, look at that guy." Trey says as he gestures to a student on the other side of the room.
This student is also very tall, with tan skin and fairly defined muscles. Not as unreasonably but Coach Vargas, but on a similar level to Eri's. What's really interesting about him is his short, fluffy white hair that spikes upward, with large white Lycanroc-like ears sticking out of his head that are black at the tips. You can't really see the front side of him, but he's wearing an outfit similar to everyone's in the school, except a yellow arm-band from what you can see instead of a red and black one, and a fluffy Lycanroc-like tail that fades into dark grey like his ears.
Even at a glance, he seems done with everyone's bullshit and just wants to be left alone. Which is reasonable.
"That rough and tumble vibe he's got has Savanaclaw written all over it." Trey concludes as he looks back at the group.
No doubt." Cater nods. "That dorm is full of scrappy guys who are into, like, working out and fighting. How should I describe the vibe...? Macho dudes? Gruff big brothers? Something along those lines. The black and gold armband is another giveaway." He gestures to band strapped on the students arm.
"Hm. He seems interesting, I'd like to talk to him if I get the chance." You say with a smile.
Everyone except you looks away from the guy, and you're about to look away as the Lycanroc-eared boy ears twitch and he looks at you, and you see his golden-brown eyes stare at you.
You wave slightly at him as he looks unamused and goes back to eating.
He hasn't even spoken to you and he's done with your Tarous-shit- wait, they say bullshit in this world, right...
Grim tilts his head and points at another student- who you recognize as Azul- sitting at a table across the room. "Huh, alright. So what about that guy with the grey-and-purple cord wrapped around his arm?"
What gets your attention is the two very similar students sitting on either side of Azul. They're both insanely tall, with nape-length turquoise hair and a longer dark gray strand in the front. The one sitting on Azul's right has the dark strand on the left of his face and the one sitting on Azul's left has the dark strand on the right side of his face. The one on the left has an almost sleezy and uncaring grin, and the one on the right looks formal and composed. Yet you just sense both are insane as the Distortion World, and to avoid them like they have a plague.
"He must be from Octavinelle. And the student sitting at the table in front of him has a red and gold armband, Scarabia colors." Trey explains.
Those dorms are for the smart students." Carter added. "They're always neck-and-neck in the academic rankings. Ah, but the current housewarden of Scarabia doesn't seem to be all that great of a student..."
Ace rolled his eyes. "And here Cater goes, off on some tangent."
Trey laughs. "You learn fast. Let's get back on topic. You see the flashy one with the purple and red armband? Those are Pomefiore colors."
Grim's eyes widen upon looking over and seeing who Trey was gesturing over at. "Woah! The girl with the potion books! I really like her- ow!"
Grim winces as you bap him on the head. "You two aren't even the same species, have standards."
You roll your eyes and look over at the girl- THAT'S A FUCKING GUY! A VERY BEAUTIFUL FEM PRESENTING GUY, BUT A GUY NONETHELESS.
"...I would ask what a girl is doing here, but judging from Y/N expression I think she knows the answer to my question." Deuce admits, looking embarrassed.
Said boy is short, like noticeably shorter than you. He has wavy, shoulder-length lavender hair with long parted bangs that frame his face. He has light blue eyes that look gentle at a glance, but you know if someone says one wrong thing this short fellow will absolutely kick their ass.
He's holding a potions book and seems to be intently studying, but he glances up once to notice you looking at him. You smile politely and wave at him, and he smiles and waves back.
Okay, you two are immediately sort-of friends now. Lovely.
Ace scoffs and gets everyone's attention back at him. "You two are morons. There aren't girls offically enrolled here."
"...pray tell." You say when everyone at the table goes quiet and looks at you. "Do my tits mean nothing to you, as de corazones? You maldito tonto."
"...except Y/N." Ace amends after a moment after you talk.
Cater chuckles. "They take vanity pretty seriously at Pomefiore. It's basically a dorm full of models. Their Housewarden has five million followers on Magicam."
"Hey now, they're not all just pretty faces." Trey added. "The students at Pomefiore are among the best at potions and casting curses.
"Huh, interesting!" You smile. "Speaking of Magicam... I probably should make that account, huh Toto?"
Toto grins and lets you open up the app and quickly go through and complete and regular account set-up stuff.
You reread your description with a calm expression.
'Hello there, encantadores espectadores! Please call me Umbree, and I'm in a bit of a situation here, so no collabs with the rest of the Eternal Eevelutions (;-;)

Yeah, this is good.
"Okay Toto, feel free to reupload everything from the Pokécam account onto here. Y'know the gist, you're the manager of the account." You say as you let the Rotom go.
"Beep beep, yes ma'am! Boop!" The Rotom-phone does a little spin before focusing on reposting.
You look back at the others, before rasing an eyebrow. "What? Were you guys waiting for me to finish before continuing? Aw, thank you!"
Cater grins a bit. "Hey, now I'll be able to find you on Magicam. Mind following me? Thanx."
You giggle a bit at that. "Yeah, sure! Toto, mind finding Cater's account when you can and following?"
"Boop! You got it! Hehe!" You grin at the Rotom-phone's antics, amused.
"Thank you, Toto." You quirk your head slightly. "Please don't mind me. Feel free to continue... for example, what's the four people sitting over there in that corner who look seriously depressed."
"Oh, thats Ignihyde." Cater gestures absent-mindedly with his fork, letting his chin rest on his free hand. "Their armbands are blue and black. I don't see many around here though, outside of those you pointed out. They tend not to be the most outgoing of students. Not even I have a friend in that dorm. They're kind of the opposite of us, the sunny and fun-loving Heartslabyuls."
You would go over to the students and say hello, but you understand better than everyone wanting to be left alone. You don't bother them outside of a polite smile and small wave in their general direction as everyone else chats.
Grim tilted his head. "So they're gloomy and miserable?"
Trey shook his head. "Hey, no need to put it like that! They just have a reputation for being quiet and serious, is all. That dorm tends to attract magical-energy engineers and students who are good with tech."
"And that just leaves... Diahonyalara, was it?" Deuce asks with a confused expression.
You giggle a bit at his accidental mess up. "It was "Diasomnia", Deuce. Close though!"
The blue-haired boys cheeks tinge pink. "I know that! I just misspoke, all right?"
"Diasomnia House is, hm... Ah, look over there." Cater pointed to another group of students at a table seperated from all the other tables. "Those guys in the special seating area. You can tell from the neon green and black armbands. They're basically campus celebrities. The vibe they give off makes it real hard for regular schmucks like us to even approach them. And their Housewarden is that times a thousand."
Ace's eyes widen in shock. "And there's a little kid in the group!"
Your eyes scan the group before you notice who Ace is referring too. The student with the deep voice from orientation...
"Ah, we do get some child prodigies here." Trey adjusts his glasses as everyone else at the table looks at him. You stare at the young-looking fellow as his pointed ears twitch and he looks at you for a moment, before grinning cheekily and pressing a finger to his lips and motioning with the other hand to look away at your group. You comply as Trey continues talking. "But that guy there is no kid. He's a junior like us. His name is-"
"Lilia." The deep voice you recognize from orientation speaks up as you feel a pair of crossed arms rest on your head. "Lilia Vanrouge."
You glance up and see his red eyes look down into yours with an amused glint as you note faint recognition in his gaze. It doesn't seem like it's from the whole orientation fiasco, though.
You can't help but realize he's magically floating upside-down in the air. You're not surprised however. Magic here is... kind of amazing, like Pokémon moves.
Grim reels back in shock. "H- he just teleported!"
"I understand my apparent age interests you?" Lilia grins cheekily at your group. "As this bespectacled fellow accurately noted. Despite my fresh-faced, boyish good looks, it would be inaccurate to call me a child."
Trey smiles and shakes his head in a mix of amusement and disbelief. "Fresh-faced, he says."
"You need not gawk at us from afar." Lilia continues. "You may feel free to speak with us directly. We are schoolmates, are we not? All of us at Diasomnia House welcome you without reservation."
He taps your nose gently with a finger before gesturing over at his table. The two students who catch your eyes next to Lilia's now empty spot. One of them has mid-length, silver-colored hair with long bangs that fall around and between his eyes. He also has a small cowlick on the top of his head. His eyes are a unique mix of light blue and light purple. The other boy has short, light green hair that's slicked back and flips up at the ends and a prominent section in the front bends to resemble a lightning bolt. He has eyes that are yellow-green with cat-like pupils and pointed eyelashes. He's in an upright posture with a stern, determined expression. The silver-haired one looks like he's secretly about to take a nap on the table and the stern-looking one looks like he'd yell at you for just existing.
And yet, those guys over there aren't exactly rolling out the red carpet in terms of approachability" Deuce says with a nervous grimace.
Lilia chuckles. "Forgive me for appearing above you during your meal. I do hope we can speak again. Especially you, Y/N. Oh, I have so much to tell you." With a wink at you, he disappears then reappears at his own table in a blink of an eye.
"Their table has got to be over twenty yards away from ours. And they overheard our conversation?" Ace put a hand to his head. "That's WAY creepy!
"...I want to know how he knew my name. I never said it here..." You shudder a bit, feeling a bit nervous.
Everyone pauses at this, before Trey shrugs and rubs the back of his head. "Well, Diamonia does have a bit of a reputation for having a lot of special students. Some of them are real talented at magic. Their Housewarden, Malleus Draconia, is considered to be one of the best five mages in the world."
You try to pay attention, but Sweet Apple yanks on your sleeve. You look at the Hydrapple, who points with one of his heads at Bangbang who's- rapidly approaching a familar boy with black feathered wings sitting at the Pomefiore tables with her hammer raised! Oh dear Arceus no!
You immediately sit up, setting Grim and Poni down quickly as you run after the the Tinkaton. Sweet Apple quickly follows after you, and Moonstone perches on your shoulders.
"Bangbang, no!" You yelp as you scoop up the Tinkaton just before she slams her hammer into the unaware winged-fellow.
He looks back as you yelp out, and you immediately recognize him as he raises an eyebrow. "Oh? Well aren't you getting into trouble again?"
"Hi Corbin..." You grin sheepishly, holding the squirming Tinkaton above your head as she tries to get her hammer to hit Corbin on the head. "...sorry about Bangbang here, she has a tendency to attack anything with wings... Bangbang, no!"
You huff as you try to hold Bangbang back. "I'm so sorry, please have a nice day! Ah!"
You run away with the Tinkaton as your Hydrapple follows, trying to ignore the several people staring at you. Even your group is staring at you as you run back to the table with a nervous expression.
However, the are people who are watching you the closest. Namely, a specific hunter, a specific bat-like fae, and a specific contract-making businessman.
You sigh as you slump back down at the table, holding the Tinkaton tightly in your lap so she doesn't run off. "Sorry for that... Bangbang, Corbin is our friend! Don't harass the poor... Corvisquire-looking fellow..."
"Ugh... your weird pink-child looking thing with the hammer would be collared immediately if Riddle caught them..." Ace groans as he crosses his arms. "I mean, he collared me for eating one slice of tart! All his rule obsession is out of control!"
"My rule obsession is out of control is it?" A voice you recognize from orientation says as he approaches you.
Everyone pales and you pause as a stern short figure approaches the group from behind Ace. Ace, unfortunately, doesn't notice.
"Uh... as de corazones?" You nervously ask with a raised eyebrow.
Ace only nods hearing the new voice. "You bet it is. Riddle's just a petty tyrant who leans into the whole rules schtick as a pretext to keep everyone under his puny thumb!"
"Ace! Behind you!" Deuce whisper-shouts with wide-eyes.
Ace quirks an eyebrow but finally turns around only to go wide eyed upon seeing who was behind him this whole time.
"Bwah! Housewarden!" He yelps out.
