Hello my readers! I would like to introduce the first side story I've ever made to A Railgun In Fairy Tail. A Certain Magical Fire Dragon, or Toaru Majutsu No Karyu, takes place in between A Railgun In Fairy Tail: Book 2 Dragons and Book 3 Bridge Between Worlds. Therefore this is a story that takes place as Rainbow Gateway that connects Fiore and our world has just formed, and the concept of esper powers are still quite new to our Fairy Tail mages. This book will tell of Natsu's adventures and discoveries in this city as well as his fight against the dark side of Academy City. This will also tell of the beginning of Natsu and Gunha Sogiita's friendship as well as some unseen friendships in the main story like Natsu's friendship with Ruiko Saten. Whether or not this side story gets a sequel or not depends on it's popularity, however, I guarantee that I will finish and have quite a lot of fun with this book whether or not it's as popular as the main story.

"Welcome to Academy City." said the tour guide as the bus drove through the bustling city. "Here science and technology is a blazing 30 years into the future. Here everything from medical care to the study of genetics has advanced far beyond the normal capabilities of the outside world. Almost everything is automated, even this bus right here is driving on it's own. Now, can anybody tell me what our most famous study is here in the city?"

"Espers!!" Many of the small children in the bus shouted.

"Yes..that's right, supernatural powers are taken to a whole new level in this city of science." said the smiling tour guide. "But recently, a new kind of possibility in supernatural power has been discovered other then just espers..and it is called-"

"WHHHAAAMM!!!" Before the tour guide could finish her sentence, the bus suddenly came to a shaky abrupt stop as it suddenly crashed into what appeared to be an invisible force. The man in a black hoodie glared up at the bus as he used his telekinetic power to push the bus backwards, causing it to tip over.

Before the bus could tip over completely though, a fit looking boy with pink hair wearing a scaly scarf suddenly pushed the bus upright again with his unusual strength.

"Damn it.." muttered the telekinetic esper. "He's caught up to me."

The boy known as Natsu Dragneel jumped onto the top of the bus and looked down at the esper with a grin. "HEY!! I don't know who you thought you were, going to rob a bank and then trying to drag innocent people into it! But I ain't gonna stand for it!! Not as long as I carry the Fairy Tail mark on me!"

"You and your stupid wizards!!" The esper growled. "You think just because you can use magic and we can't that makes you special! But guess what! It doesn't!"

The esper raised his hands, and several doors tore off some parked cars and threw themselves at Natsu. Natsu's fists ignited into fiery flames and he punche the doors out of the way. Natsu grinned.

"Gonna have to do better then that!! ROAR OF THE FIRE DRAGON!!!"

Natsu puffed his cheeks and exhaled a massive blast of flame from his mouth. The esper jumped out of the way in just the nick of time as the fire carved a gouge in the asphalt of the road.

"What kind of monster are you!?" the esper shouted.

"Ehhh?" said Natsu. "Did you just call me a lobster?" Just how do I look like a shell fish to you!?"

"You better watch it!" said the esper. "My ability is at level 4.88. That means I'm powerful enough that I'm near that of a level 5!"

"I've seen level 5s before." said Natsu. "And Mikoto would whoop your butt!"

"RRRRAAAARRGGHH!!" the esper yelled out and thrust his hands out to his sides as three large cars hurled themselves at Natsu.

"Wing Attack of The Fire Dragon!!" Natsu whirled his hands forward, letting two massive whips of flame destroy the cars in a mass of explosions.

Natsu then dashed through the mayhem, and before the esper could even react, he punched the esper straight in the face, knocking him out cold.

"HAHAHAHAHA!! I totally saved the day right!?" Natsu said with a big grin on his face.

All the surrounding students who had been watching the scene shook their heads and called out to Natsu as if this was becoming a regular thing. "YOU OVERDID IT!!"

Indeed, Natsu was standing around a scene of blown up cars and utter destruction as several fire hydrants were exploding like geysers.

2 hours later, District 7 park area.

"200 blown up fire hydrants this week, as well as 20 demolished street drones." Kuroko Shirai shook her head. "I swear Natsu, I think you've set a new record."

"Awe come on..." said Natsu as he threw a couple of pebbles into the road. "It's not any different from how things are in Magnolia!"

"And as I understand from Sissy, your Master is constantly having to send appology letters to the mayor about this kind of stuff." said Kuroko.

"But it's all in good fun!" said the small blue cat who was standing next to Natsu. "Nobody could ever think to blame Natsu here, because this town is so big!"

"That's a stupid idea Happy." said Kuroko. "First of all, no esper in this city can make a bigger more destructive fireball then dragon boy over here...and second of all, if you guys get arrested either by Judgement or Anti-skill, how do you think Sissy will react?"

Natsu's eyes suddenly widened as he imagined Mikoto's eyes becoming like that of a demon's as dangerous sparks ran down her body.

"Eh...eh...eh..." Natsu began to stutter and shiver as Happy started doing the same.

"Then imagine if both Erza and Sissy knew.." continued Kuroko..

If Natsu's eyes could get any wider, they were now. "Oh gosh...oh gosh....no....I don't want to die...I like my legs where they are........"

"Aye!" said Happy. "I at least want to have a nice salmon before I am beheaded."

"Then behave!!" said Kuroko. "It's over exuberant heroes like you two that always make my job a little harder then it needs to be!...*sigh*"

Kuroko turned to walk off. "I'm not on patrol today, so any more Judgement officers you meet probably won't be as nice as I am...keep that in mind..later!"

Kuroko suddenly dissapeared, her teleportation ability carrying her off to who knows where.

Natsu and Happy just stared at the spot where Kuroko used to be for a second then shrugged.

"Ya wanna get something to drink?"

"Aye!"

Natsu and Happy walked over to a vending machine near the park area. They looked for the drink they wanted and Natsu began to search his pockets.

"Hmmm." said Natsu.."darn it...I forgot to go convert our money at the bank....all I have is Jewel...no Yen.."

"You could kick it like Mikoto does!" said Happy. "Isn't this the same vending machine she always kicks?"

"YEAH!" said Natsu enthusiastically. "You're right!!"

Natsu kicked the vending machine on the side. Instead of spitting out a drink though, the vending machine flew off and smashed into the ground 50 feet away.

"You overdid it!" said Happy. "Quick! Before the robots get here!!"

Happy activated his wings, flew over to Natsu and carried him off right before several cylindrical drones slid over, with sirens blaring saying. "Offense detected...suspected vandalism of vending machine 2112 detected."

Happy and Natsu landed behind some bushes and watched as the drones blared their sirens and roved around the vending machine area.

"Aww...man.." Natsu whimpered. "If Erza and Mikoto find out......eek!"

"No kidding." said Happy. "I don't think Mikoto used that much force when she kicked it.."

"What should we do?"

"Tell them that Night Reveler from Hydra Head did it?"

Natsu and Happy looked at each other for a second.

"Yeah! That's a totally impenetrable defense!" said Natsu happily. "Gramps will believe that for sure!!"

R.I.F.T. and A.C.M.F.D. trivia.

1. At the time of this book, there were ambassadors from every country in the world currently staying in Academy City as a means to communicate with Fiore.

2. In order to pass through the Rainbow Gateway, you are required to have a 2 forms of id, and you are required to inform the guard on either side of the gateway the approximate time of your return. These rules have actually become more lenient after the 3rd and 4th books of R.I.F.T. because of the people from our dimension goint to work for magical guilds, and therefore needing to pass through the gateway quite often.

3. It is possible for Mikoto to get motion sick thanks to her Dragon Slayer powers. She tested this out by borrowing some esper ability negating cuffs from Kuroko and riding a bullet train with Lucy. After she threw up once, she immediately took the cuffs off and swore never to experiment with that again.
