Manik Pov.
(After talking to Nandini)

I left the court building reaching my car I got a call from Mother and again had to hear the same old thing.

Why Abhimanyu had to open his mouth for once he should have gine dumb but no he had to talk about me taking this case ?

No one ever cared what cases I used to take before but for this particular everyone has something or else to say.

Rumors of case being cursed has spread like wild fire in America no doubt.

My mother already had done special prayer and from now on she will go to mass thrice a week, visit chruch everyday, bible as it is she used to read but now she will fast too everyday for my safety against the devil.

Really ?

Man: Mom, you can't be serious if you start fasting I will have to come out there to take care of you. You will land  in hospital due to low blood pressure and what about your asthma ?
I shouted over the phone after listening to her bargaining with almighty for my safety.

Veronica: Than leave the case and come to LA we can spend sometime together it's been so long.
She cried using her emotional tone to melt me.

Women's and their tears.

Man: You had promised me, you will never get involve between me and my work didn't you ?
I asked her making her silent for once.

Man: I am fine and don't you dare start this all what you mention before if praying gives you peace of mind then do it for yourself and not me. And what about those lectures about fate been sealed you used to give me ? If I am here it's due to your God's will now stop the emotional drama and be the woman who is my Mother, fighter and fearless. Will you ?
I asked while she sighed.

Vernoica: I will but promise me you will take care of yourself.
She said sternly.

Man: I will. Love you.
I said cheekily. 

Veronica: love you too son.
She spoke emotionally again.

Man: Now bye.
I said ending the call.

I was about to enter my car when a woman came running towards me.

Mr, you need to help me. A woman out fainted. Please assistants me to help her.

She said pointing in another way as she rushed out there again.

I jogged behind her to find something unbelievable.

Nandini laid lifeless on the road with her nose bleeding.

Help me to get her to hospital.

She spoke again keeping Nandini head on her knees.

While I stood shocked to see Nandini.

How did this happened ?

Few minutes back we were talking in the court room and now she is unconscious.

Something is wrong look at the marks.

She said pointing at her red neck which had nail marks and scratches with blood pourning from few cuts which were deep.

Who did this to her ?

I won't leave that person.

I bent to her side picking her up in my arms.

I caressed her cheeks feeling her soft skin after so long.

Man: Nandini...Nandu....
I called out for her but she stayed silent in my arms.

Ohh shoot.

I picked her up carefully as I carried her to my car.

Worry and anxiety filled my heart as I took her to hospital.

The woman to accompanied me even though I told her she could leave as I knew the girl.

But she insisted making me agree as I didn't had time to argue with the stranger.

And moreover she asked for my help if she wouldn't come to me I would never know about Nandini.

I stood near the door as the doctors were treating her wounds.

When I took her in my arms I realized she had turned into a pale, skinny and petite woman.

She wasn't taking good care of herself.

I wished I could take care of her just like older days.

Make sure she stayed always fit and healthy.

Why did she had to leave me ?

We could have made things good again together.

I could have tried to keep my temper in control.

She knew me from before than why had my short temper become such a big issue in our marriage.

Nandini we could have had a baby together by now if you could have tried and loved me the same way I still love you.

I pulled myself out of my thought when the door opened.

The doctor walked out.

The woman who stood behind me kept on telling me all time that the girl was trying to choke herself but I dismissed her by just nodding.

Why would Nandini do such a stupid thing ?

Never she could do sometime so unreasonable, she wasn't insane.

Man: What's wrong with her ? How is she doing now ?
I asked while he looked unsure.

Well I had lost my nerves due to his unwanted questions before making him scared of me.

Instead of helping Nandini he wanted to know who and what was I to her.

Really ?

Doctor: She is fine now. But I'm 99% sure she tried to suffocate herself after looking at her wound. They are her own hands and nail marks and reasonably her skin was stuck in her nails which prove my doubt 100% sure she tried to kill herself. We need to inform the police.
He said making me glared at him.

No way Nandini will never do such a thing.

Man: Did I ask for your opinion on how this happen I asked a simple question how is she now and what's wrong with her that mean how bad the wound are nothing more ?
I shouted on him making him nod.

He left the topic knowing well I didn't want police or anyone else near her.

I will get my answers when she is awake I am still sure she won't do such a stupid thing.

I waited so did the woman or girl who had accompanied me.

She sat on one of the beach while I paced back and front.

It was midnight when I looked at her to realized she was sleeping but why did she sit so stiff she should atleast lay her head on the bench head for support.

Her body was abnormally rigid

Was she death ?

She was unknowingly silent from evening just staring in space and now probably sleeping.

Not sure.

I moved towards her to tell her to go home but realized she was murmuring something in her sleep.

What she spoke was inaudible or I couldn't understand the words as if it was Latin or Persian.

I shook her but still she stayed rigid.

Man: Excuse me....are you okay ?
I called her out loudly.

I didn't touch her.

Something was off about this woman.

After saying Nandini was trying to choke herself continuously she suddenly had gone silent and now God know what was wrong with her.

I didn't even ask for her name or identity at the first place I realized now.

I would have done that in any other situation why didn't I asked her that was totally off I should have asked her at the very first place but I couldn't think straight for the first time.

I shook her finally touching her shoulder, her words became louder and audible as I did that, it seem she spoke in ancient language something I have never heard before I knew Latin and Persian to some extent atleast I understood them what I though she was speaking in but it was neither of them.

It was foreign language it sounded like she was repeating some verses.

Mostly probably it seem she was chanting some old scripts as prayer the same words were being repeated again and again.

Man: Woman wake up, are you okay ?
I got more tense as her words came out as a yell making me bewildered.

What's wrong with her ?

It was around midnight and the hospital halls were empty with no one around except of us.

I had taken a private room for Nandini that meant there were only 5 rooms on this floor and they were too private.

We could rest in the room but I stayed out with the woman.

So there was no help to call for from around I realized.

Man: Listen you need to wake up. Get up.
I shouted for her to listen to me but her body jerked and I soon realized she was getting fits.

Ohh shoot what was this new trouble.

I ran to call for doctor as she laid now on the floor shaking like a dying fish with white fin coming out from her mouth.

When I return with doctor on his foot I heard Nandini voice she was shouting.

Nan: Leave.
She shouted again.

I walked towards the door to find no one around.

I was so confused

There was a woman who seem to be dying a minute back and now she disappeared all of a sudden as if nothing had happened.

And Nandini she shouldn't be awake she was under high dose of sedative to lessen her pain.

I walked inside the room when I heard her voice.

Nan: Manik.
She cried my name as I looked at her.

Woman you need to give a long explanation for your injuries.

Nan: Manik get this woman out of my room. She has already tried to kill me.
She yelled making me confused.

What was she talking about which woman.......???

I looked at her bewildered while she kept on pointing towards the door.

Man: Calm down.
I said looking for the doctor.

Nan: Calm down....
She repeated my words with venomous.

Nan: My foot....the lady standing beside you is a psychopath.
She shouted again.

I looked beside me to see no one.

Who was she talking to and about ?

And where is that woman ?

I crused loudly covering my face to hear a voice.

I'm fine. Thank you.

I heard the woman voice.

Frowning I looked at Nandini who was fast asleep on her bed.

As if she wasn't awake or shouting just a minute back.

What the hell was going on ?

I turned around to find the woman standing right behind me.

Was she really shaking on the floor with seizure few minutes back.

Or was I imagining that too ?

I stared at her while she looked at the Nandini sleeping figure.

Man: You had fits.
I said as a matter of fact to the woman.

Yes.

She replied with a smile.

Thank you for calling the doctor.
I feel better now.
I should take a leave.
My work is done for now.

She said looking at me and then Nandini and finally she walked out from there.

What work  ?

I stood confused.

I walked out from the room to follow her.

Man: Hey.
I called her out while she still kept on walking, I ran to her retreating figure pressing the elevator she waited when I catched her up.

Man: What work ? What were you murmuring or in particular chanting ? What's your name ?
I asked everything in one breathe.

Verena Stone is my name.

She moved forward her hands while I stared at the hand.

Being unsure I took her hand to realized it was ice cold.

Verena: You should be with your wife.
She said making me shock.

Man: How do you know she is my wife ?
I asked bewildered.

Verena : Isn't it obvious.
She smiled but her eyes lens had turned unusual black.

Man: I'm not sure what happened out there ?
I asked looking at Nandini room.

Verena: I got fits and you called the doctor.
She said in obvious tone looking at me confused.

Man: No....I.....I mean.....nevermind
I said being unsure.

She frowned looking at me until we heard the elevator ping and she walked in.

I stood there staring at her until the elevator doors were closed and she was gone.

What kind of tricks were my mind playing.

I covered my eyes crusing loudly until I heard the doctors voice.

Doctor: Mr Malhotra the patients is awake but seem to be talking gibberish.
He said while I frowned.
