"i can't believe it's already winter," jimin said, his hands dug deep into his coat pockets, walking side by side with joon and breathing out the cold air.
a few months had passed since the two had their little argument, both of them barely even remembering the quarrel now. the boys had gotten a lot closer if that was even possible. they hung out almost every day, switching between jimin's apartment and namjoon's house. the two were practically inseparable and neither of them wanted it any other way.
especially namjoon.
joon didn't think it was possible to fall any harder for jimin. he didn't think things could possibly get any better. but, with all the time they had been spending together, namjoon managed to just fall harder and harder for the boy. he didn't quite know what he was feeling, but he knew he never wanted it to go away. he wanted to be with jimin at all times- never apart.
"i know," namjoon said, in agreement, "it's nice. christmas is in the air."
jimin laughed a little, hitting namjoon in the arm lightly.
"you're right. i can't wait."
the two boys were on a little walk together, eventually coming across a little strip with a few cute local stores.
"oh my gosh!" jimin said, excitedly, "let's go check those out!"
"alright," namjoon said, smiling.
joon could be doing anything with jimin, it didn't matter. the feeling would never go away. he was happy when he was with the boy. he felt complete.
the two boys hurried into the store, immediately feeling some relief as the warm air hit them.
"welcome in, boys!" an elderly lady said from behind the counter, " help yourself to some hot chocolate."
the boys looked over and saw a cute little cocoa dispenser and smiled brightly. they excitedly thanked the woman, heading over to get some. namjoon wasn't really much of a hot chocolate person, being more interested in coffee, but anything hot was enough to get him excited in such chilly weather.
jimin was fast to get his drink, chugging it down like it was water.
"it's not like the one at our café," jimin said, "but something about it is better. probably just because it's so cold out."
namjoon laughed, taking a small sip from his cup.
"wanna look around?"
jimin nodded, quickly following joon around the store.
the place seemed to be selling lots of handmade items. there were different knitted socks and jackets, even some handmade candles that namjoon showed a lot of interest in.
the two continued looking around the store until namjoon heard jimin gasp, rushing over to him.
jimin had a cute, pink, hand-knitted sweater clutched in his small hands, the boy smiling big.
"look what i found!" jimin said, excitedly, holding out the sweater for joon to see.
namjoon looked over it and saw that it was very much jimin's style. he couldn't help but imagine the cute boy in the light pink sweater, practically blushing at the mental image.
"i need it!" jimin said, like he was ready to pay any expense.
"did you check the price?" namjoon asked, with a chuckle, figuring it was probably pretty pricey since it was handmade.
"i don't care," jimin started, searching for the price tag, "i'll pay whatever it co-"
jimin cut himself off when he saw the price, his mouth falling open.
"one hundred and seventy dollars?" jimin asked, shocked, "how could anyone afford that?"
namjoon looked a bit surprised as well, not expecting it to be that much.
jimin looked crushed, knowing he couldn't get the sweater.
"it was my size and everything," jimin said, pouting.
"i'm sorry," namjoon said, feeling bad for the boy, "maybe if you save up, you can come back and-"
"it's one of a kind, joon. there's only one here. it'll be gone by the time i can make enough to buy it," jimin said, with a sigh, putting the sweater back onto the rack.
jimin walked away from namjoon, sadly, continuing to look around the little store, looking for something a bit cheaper to fill the sweater-sized hole in his heart.
namjoon stayed back, just staring at the sweater. it was nice, good quality. probably worth the money. he ran his fingers over it, feeling the soft material.
the winter times got awfully cold where they lived. jimin would need something to keep him warm in the chilly months.
namjoon thought it would be the perfect gift for jimin. the boy was always so caring, buying namjoon's food and little gifts for him here and there. he owed jimin something nice and he wanted to get him something he knew he would love.
of course, namjoon couldn't afford the sweater either. he lived in a one-story house with his grandfather and was far too busy with school and jimin to even think about getting a job- at least not now. and even if he did get a job, there would be no way he could get the money in time for christmas.
he did have his poetry contest money, but he had already given it to his grandfather to help out with his tuition, and it would be rude of him to ask for some back now- especially for something as futile as an overpriced sweater.
joon was pulled from his thoughts, when he felt jimin tugging on his sleeve, asking if he was ready to go.
namjoon turned to the boy and nodded, the two of them thanking the lady behind the counter and heading out.
namjoon sighed, figuring he would have to think of a way to make up the money before christmas day.
