gina had been in bed all day, it was only 2.36 in the afternoon but usually she'd been up for hours by now.

'shh, you gotta be quiet because she might be asleep.' rosa whispered to iggy from outside the bedroom door

'i'm not asleep babe,' gina smiled at the pair who were walking thru the door. 'you okay princess?'

'she doesn't wanna take a nap, do you ig?' rosa placed her onto the bed next to gina

gina felt the mattress under her dampen, 'shit.' she took a deep breath, 'hey ig, if you go to sleep now the baby might be here when you wake up.' gina tried her best to smile

'mhm,' rosa agreed before realising. 'wait what?' her eyes widened.

'rosie, my water just broke.'

'uhhh... okay, i'll call jake and amy to watch iggy and then i'll drive you to the hospital? or do i call 911?'

'you... you can drive me, i'll be fine for like 30 minutes i think.'

'okay, can i leave ig in here?'

'probably not a good idea incase she falls asleep,' gina said in between deep breaths

'right, yeh.' she lifted the child up off the bed and placed her down. 'go play in your room for a while and then jake and amy will take you to see duckies okay?'

'DUCKIES!' iggy yelled as she ran off into her room.

'i'll go call jake and amy and then we can go as soon as they get here.'

even the journey to the hospital was eventful. rosa had to drive with one hand, which she was fine with, whilst the other hand was being crushed by gina... which she wasn't so fine with. she nearly crashed the car three times because she was focusing on her hand rather than the road, on top of that gina's contractions had started to get worse so every few minutes she'd shout everything she wanted to say or scream.

'ROSA I NEED TO GET OUT THIS STUPID CAR NOW,' she yelled as rosa pulled into a parking space.

'it's okay, we're here. we have the hospital bag and the baby seat and we're okay.'

gina couldn't do much except shout, scream and take deep breaths, but she managed to get out an 'i love you' between breaths to which rosa replied 'i love you too' and helped her out of the car.

gina had crushed almost all the life out of rosa's hand when she completely let go of her hand. rosa took the opportunity to swap hands, but the redhead didn't take hold of rosa's other.

'babe you're almost there,' rosa took gina's hand.

the other woman didn't even try to grasp rosa's other hand, instead she shook her head. 'i can't,' she breathed

'gines look at me.' gina smiled at the nickname as she faced rosa, 'breathe with me.' the pair took a few deep breaths together before rosa continued, 'i'm right here, you can do this.'

'i love you, rosa.' gina went back to taking deep breaths and crushing rosa's hand before her eyes closed.

'gi? you okay babe?' rosa questioned before the two nurses in the room did the same

'miss, we need you to leave the room.' one of the nurses told rosa

'is she gonna be okay? is the baby?'

'it would be easier if you left the room, then we can make sure they're both safe.'

the sergeant quickly leaned down and kissed gina's head before reluctantly leaving the room. she didn't want to leave gina but she also wanted to make sure her fiancé and baby were okay, and she wasn't about to put up a fight with the nurses who should be looking after them.

rosa barely sat down for 30 seconds at a time; she mainly spent her time pacing up and down the hospital corridor whilst waiting for some news. she didn't notice anybody enter or exit the room but she figured other people must've entered as she didn't recognise the doctor who eventually let her in the room

rosa smiled as soon as she walked into the room. she never wanted to forget the sight in front of her: her fiancé, perfectly okay after just giving birth, holding her newborn baby.

'you scared me, don't do that again.'

'i don't plan on it,' gina giggled

'how you feeling?' rosa asked as she took gina's hand in her own

'better now,' gina smiled. 'you just took everything out of me, didn't you baby?' she smiled at the small child on her chest. 'you wanna hold her?'

the latina's eyes welled up as she nodded and took her jacket off; gina had already said she couldn't wear her jacket when holding the baby for at least a few weeks. 'ig's gonna be happy, she's a girl.' rosa laughed as she took the child into her arms, 'hi baby.' she gently rocked the girl in her arms and looked at the redhead. 'told you you could do it.'

'you did,' gina looked up at her and smiled. 'and i love you so much for that.'

'you could've done it without me babe, i'm glad you didn't have to tho, not completely.'

'does baby girl have a name yet?' one of the nurses interrupted

gina nodded as rosa looked at her and smiled. 'isla linetti-diaz,' the redhead smiled

'i always loved the name isla,' the nurse beamed as she wrote the name on isla's wristband. you could tell she was only making small talk because she had to but, for once, rosa didn't mind.

'you have a name now baby,' rosa cooed at the girl in her arms.

'mhm, your name's isla.' gina smiled from
beside rosa, who was now sitting on the armchair next to her fiancé's bed. 'and you have a big sister at home who wants to meet you.'

'i'll go call jake and amy, ask them to bring ig so she can meet her.' rosa placed the small child back onto gina's chest. 'i love you,' the sergeant leaned down and kissed the other woman before leaving the room

the latina was waiting for jake, amy and iggy outside in the car park so she could show them up to gina's room when she saw a little pair of legs running towards her

'hey sweetie.' rosa smiled, 'did you have fun with jake and amy?'

'where mommy?'

'mommy's inside, should we go find her?' iggy nodded and giggled at rosa before wrapping her arms around the woman so that she could pick her up.

rosa waited for jake and amy to catch up before showing them all to gina's room.

'take iggy in first, we'll be out here to meet them whenever you want.' amy told rosa who then nodded

'thanks,' rosa smiled slightly and held iggy's hand as the two walked into the room. 'look ig, that's your new baby sister.'

iggy smiled at her mom and sister on the bed. 'you wanna sit up here with us?' iggy nodded. 'you can't jump on it tho okay? it's not like the bed at home.' before gina could finish her sentences, iggy was already trying to get herself up onto the bed, but rosa just ended up helping her.

'you wanna know what your sister's called?' rosa asked as the two year old looked at the young child, mouth open in awe of her sister.

iggy held her finger out, ready to poke the baby's cheek when rosa stopped her. 'don't do that princess, you gotta be gentle.' rosa took the girl's hand and gently stroked the newborn's head. 'like this,' she smiled, 'she's called isla.'

'no.'

'no? what should we call them then sweetie?' rosa asked before looking over to see gina holding a laugh back

'duckie.'

'maybe that could be their middle name princess?' she glanced over to gina who was now red from holding back her laughter

'baby duckie,' iggy beamed proudly, just like the time she wrote her name all by herself

'i love you, iggy,' rosa smiled, picking her daughter up. the latina tickled her child's sides, making her squirm and giggle, before sitting her down on a chair. 'and i love you isla,' she said after taking off gina's chest and then swayed the child from side to side. 'and i love you so so much gines.' the sergeant freed one of her hands from under isla, reaching out and taking gina's with it.

'i love you too ro,' gina smiled, grazing over rosa's knuckles with her thumb. 'so so much.'
