Chapter 2 ||Tea and News||
Later that evening, Cerlesta stood in front of her long mirror. Her maids just left her after dressing her up in a blue gown and styling her brown hair, half braid done and letting the left rest wavy down.
Her golden tiara was seated above her head, which shimmered her dark emerald eyes. And her favorite gold chained blue Crystal necklace, which her brother gave her on her 10th birthday, rested around her neck as always. Because she promised Caspian that she’ll never take it off. She smiled slightly at her reflection in the mirror.
“Is my gorgeous little bird ready?” she heard Caspian teasing from behind.
She turned to her door and saw Caspian leaning to the nearby wall, looking handsome as always.
She giggled slightly and answered, “Yes!”
Caspian pulled himself from his leaning position and walked towards his sister. He stood beside her, facing their reflection in the mirror and threw his hand around her shoulders, holding her close.
He let out a satisfied sigh and said softly, “Sometimes I forget you’ve grown into a fine young lady.”
And looked down at her, sideways. Cerlesta tilted her head up sideways and met her brother’s gaze.
“Really?” she asked, smiling.
“Of course! Each time I realize it, I’m having a hard time believing it. And it also makes me so proud, that I’m lucky to have you as my sister! You’re my treasure!” said Caspian, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze.
Her smile widened, her eyes filled up with tears, “I love you, brother!” she hugged him.
“I know, I love you too!” he said as he returned the hug.
“Hey, don’t ruin that beautiful
face with tears,” teased Caspian as they broke their hug.
“And you know?” Caspian started, wiping away her tears, “The man who’ll capture your heart one day, will be the luckiest. Not because you’re a princess, but because you’re an extraordinary soul!”
“Oh Caspian, stop it!” said Cerlesta, laughing slightly and gently poking his chest. Caspian chuckled.
“I say, the girl you’ll get to marry will be the luckiest.” Cerlesta said, laughing at her brother who rolled his eyes.
“Your majesties,” a voice called, they both turned to the door and saw Fersia, “It’s time.” She informed.
Caspian took a deep breath and nodded at her. Turning to his sister, he asked, “Are you ready, sweetheart?”
“Told you already! Yes!” she replied excitedly and turned to her mirror. Caspian groaned seeing her turn to the mirror, “Told you already! You’re gorgeous!” he teased.
She laughed, “Okay Handsome, let’s go!” she teased back as she took her brother’s offered arm graciously.
......
“I hope they were informed of our invitation.” Said Prunaprismia to her husband Miraz who was standing beside the tea table. They both were waiting for Caspian and Cerlesta in the royal garden.
“Of course they were informed, I can assure you that.” Miraz smiled at his wife.
“How can you assure that?” She asked her husband, raising her eyebrow at him.
“Because……here they are!” he said, motioning his hand towards the entrance.
Prunaprismia smiled as she spotted the royal siblings coming and stood up from her chair when they neared. Miraz too, had a wide smile on their face, which gave Caspian a creepy feeling. But tried to ease it.
Miraz gave Caspian a Kingly embrace while Cerlesta thew herself into her aunt’s, who opened her arms widely for her.
Cerlesta was like a daughter to Miraz and Prunaprismia. Ever since the death of her mother Queen Emery at her birth and the death of her father Caspian the ninth at her age of 3( both whom she don’t remember), Miraz and Prunaprismia loved her as their own. They never had a child of their own so Prunaprismia gave her the love of a mother. Miraz was always busy with royal subjects ever since he became king after his brother’s death, only because Prince Caspian was too young to be king according to the Telmarine law.
And so, because of he don’t have a heir of his own, Miraz raised Caspian as the Crown Prince. Never loved Caspian as he loved Cerlesta, neither did Caspian back. But Prunaprismia loved Caspian as well as he too kinda loved her back.
As for Cerlesta, she loved both her uncle and aunt, especially her aunt more. Because their love was the only caring love she knew other than Caspian's and their former nurse. She never had her own mother’s love and doesn’t remember her father’s at all. All she knew about them was what her brother and professor told her.
On the other side, when Caspian realized at the first of the times when his uncle and aunt began to love his sister (the only person he have left as own) considering her as their own, it was really hard for him to accept. He feared that they might stole her heart and tear her apart from him.
So Caspian fought a duel again them to capture her heart with all the love he can give her and ended up winning.
If there were anyone whom Caspian loved so dearly with his all life, it was his little sister Cerlesta; and professor Cornelius and their former nurse (who first introduced Narnia to them and was sent away by Miraz because of that reason) comes next after her.
It was the same with Cerlesta too, to Caspian.
“Are we late?” asked Caspian to his uncle after their embrace. Miraz laughed slightly, “Royals are never late, you’re in time!” he said.
‘Wow he’s in a happy mood today’ thought Caspian as he agreed by light laughter.
Both Cerlesta and Prunaprismia giggled.
“Come, take your seat!” said Prunaprismia and they all took their seats. After seating , Miraz nodded to the servants who came with silver trays carrying their tea and different kinds of snacks and fruits. The servants went back after serving.
“So…tell us, how was your day?” asked Miraz to Caspian and Cerlesta, once the servants left.
“It was really wonderfull!” said Cerlesta cheerfully, remembering her victory in chess. Caspian rolled his eyes because he knew what she meant.
“Wow! That sounds pleasant! Anything specific?” asked Prunaprismia.
“Yes!” exclaimed Cerlesta, “I beat Caspian in chess!” Caspian let out a chuckle and Miraz laughed slighly.
“Yeah, Because I let her, only because I let her.” Said Caspian eyeing his sister, making her giggle.
“So you finally beat him, somehow.” Laughed Miraz, “But, you must learn to beat him, not just by making him give up for you.”
“What are you two talking about? She’s a good chess player. She always beats me.” Said Prunaprismia defending Cerlesta.
“Oh yes! How come we forget that, Caspian?” hiding his smile and putting a playful serious face, Miraz asked his nephew.
Caspian shrugged, “Because we know, anyone can beat a person who’s not so familiar with chess.” He knew excatly what his uncle meant.
“Exactly!” agreed Miraz as he began to laugh. Prunaprismia gave them both a glare, which was a playful one though and laughed along with them.
“You better not defend me in these cases.” Whispered Cerlesta to her aunt who chuckles at hearing it.
“So, sounds like your day was great.” Said Miraz to Cerlesta and turned to Caspian, “What about you Caspian ?"
“Was very busy with military training last days, so I excused myself for a day off and spend my day with Cery.” Said Caspian smiling at his sister.
“How’s your training progress?” Asked Prunaprismia.
“Getting better each day.” Caspian replied.
“Too better, I’m afraid.” Teased Cerlesta. They all shared a laugh.
“By the way, how are you two doing?” asked Caspian.
“Thanks dear, we are fine. Actually……..” Prunaprismia paused and looked her Husband, who continued what she paused.
“Actually….. that’s why we requested for your presence over here. We have a great news for you.” Said Miraz.
‘Thought so’ thought Caspian as he exchanged glances with Cerlesta, without being noticed.
“That sounds really wonderful!” beamed Cerlesta.
“What’s the news?” asked Caspian. A wide grin spread across Prunaprismia’s face as she turned to her husband.
He returned the smile and said, “You tell them.”
“Well……” She turned to the royal siblings and said, “You’re going to have a cousin.”
Cerlesta gasped and covered her mouth in awe.
“Woah, wow!” breathed Caspian, “Really?” he asked in disbelief.
Prunaprismia nodded. “CONGRATULATIONS!!!!” said Caspian and Cerlesta in unison as they get up from their chair to congratulate the couple. Then Caspian called for a toast for his soon arriving cousin.
