Hiro Hamada: Age 3 – Tadashi Hamada: Age 7 {The night after their parents' funeral.}

Tadashi had not had a good day. (And that's an understatement!) Just a week before his parents had died in a horable car accident, and today had been their funeral. Tadashi and his younger brother Hiro had gone to live with their Aunt Cass. Hiro was too young to understand what was happening, so he wasn't taking it too hard. Tadashi on the other hand... he loved his parents; he just couldn't believe they were really gone. But he couldn't let it show. Aunt Cass would need his help taking care of Hiro. Hiro would grow up one day and he would understand what had happened, so Tadashi had to stay strong for his sake. That being said... Tadashi was currently sitting on his bed crying. Luckily Hiro had his own room so he couldn't see him.

"Dashi?" Tadashi quickly wiped the water from his eyes only to see Hiro in tears standing in the doorway.

"Hiro? What's the matter?" He hopped onto Tadashi's lap and continued to sob.

"I-I had a bad dream... Dashi, where's Mommy and Daddy?" Tadashi had to keep himself from crying. "I looked for them but I couldn't find them anywhere..."

Tadashi gently ran his hand through Hiro's hair. "Mom and Dad..." he choked a bit "They... their gone Hiro..."

Tears continued to stream down his face "But where'd they go? I'm scared Dashi..."

"I-I know..." Tadashi continued to sooth his brother. "You see Hiro... Mom and Dad, they... They went on a trip! Yeah! A... really long trip! And... they won't be coming back for a really long time..."

"Oh..." Hiro sniffled a bit "But why'd they go?"

"Um..." Tadashi hated having to lie to Hiro but he just couldn't bear to tell him the truth. "They didn't want to leave. They... they were forced to go..."

"Oh..." Hiro started crying even more "But Mommy always helped me when I had a bad dream..."

"No, no! its ok don't cry!" Tadashi was panicking. How did parents deal with this kind of stuff?! "Um... well Hiro... how bout I try to help you..."

He stopped crying a bit "Really?"

Tadashi nodded "What did- uh... Does mom usually do to help?"

"Well..." Hiro sniffled "She usually asks me what happens in the dream."

"Ok..." Tadashi nodded "Well Hiro what happened in your dream?"

Tadashi wiped the tears from his eyes as he started to retell his dream. "I dreamed that someone had taken me away from you and Mommy and Daddy. They said I wasn't allowed to see any of you ever again..."

"Oh Hiro..."Tadashi wrapped him in a hug. "I promise, I will never let anyone take you away. You're safe here with me little brother."

Hiro smiled "Thanks Dashi!" he wrapped his tiny arms around Tadashi's waist. This made Tadashi smile. Maybe taking care of Hiro wouldn't be that hard after all.

Tadashi decided to let Hiro spend the night in his room so he pulled him under the covers and gave him a kiss on the head. "I promise... I'll never let anyone hurt you..." Within minutes both of the Hamada's were fast asleep. Hiro may not have realized it but in the end he had helped Tadashi too. He busy too busy helping Hiro... that he forgot he had been crying...
