Chapter 10: Alyssa
The staircase fell in such a way we were all safe. We ran faster, and I made the mistake of looking back. The Balrog was not a creature, but rock come alive, wreathed in flame. We crossed a narrow bridge, and Gandalf stopped about halfway across. I knew what would happen now. I watched with horrified fascination, as first the Balrog fell, then Gandalf. As we burst into the sunlight, I sobbed. What would we do without Gandalf? I shook my head.
Pull yourself together Alyssa. You'll see him again.
I sighed and helped Sam stand. Aragorn shouted,
"By nightfall, these hills will be teeming with orks! And Legassa-" He stopped, pain clear in his eyes. I sobbed.
Darlene's fate was never defined! What if-
I shook my head again. She'd be fine! I bit my lip. We ran across the plains, our hearts pounding with fear. For Darlene, for ourselves. We finally reached Lorien, or as Isla dubbed it, the very expensive forest. I heard Gimli bragging about his ear and eye sight. An arrow was thrust in my face. Aragorn made no threatening moves, as he still carried Darlene. I raised my hands in surrender. We were escorted to a clearing, while Haldir(aka Mr. Arrow Pointer) gave Darlene to some elves. Aragorn wanted to go with them, but Haldir refused him. Prat. I watched Aragorn and Arrow Pointer argue for a good fifteen minutes before we were let through. I stared at the trees around me. They glowed. I stared up at the elves walking along the stairs, and we entered the place where we were to meet Galadriel.
Galadriel was stunning. Another figure emerged from the shadows. Darlene. Aragorn ran to her and hugged her. She accepted the hug and flushed. They so liked one another! I watched the regal couple glide down the steps and smiled. What could go wrong with Galadriel and Celeborn here? Unfortunately, everything from then on when horribly wring.
