Chapter nine - Innocence.
I sat at the kitchen table writing up some of Moriarty's crimes. I tapped away at the keys on my computer, sipping from my teacup. Suddenly a bunch of crashes sounded from the front door. I looked lazily up from the screen.
"Liem?" I wondered out loud.
"Yeah it's me." Liem said, he sounded out of breath.
And low and behold, in he came, arms full of purple luggage.
"She wouldn't carry any of her bags." Liem explained. I raised an eyebrow in question.
"Why should I when I knew you would handsome?" Said a young woman breezing into the room. Her bright blue eyes, lit on me.
"Juniper Tyson. Pleased to meet you!" Smiled the red haired woman extending her hand. I study her for a moment. She is an alluring young girl with pale skin and inquisitive eyes.
"Keyland Jones, Likewise." I say formally, making no move to get up. "I assume that you are a part of Mortimer's crime ring?"
"Yes. I worked with the online portions of his work. Coding and decoding and other things like that." She said walking over to me. "What is that?" She asks gesturing to my laptop. I close the tab.
"Do you plan to work for us?" I ask ignoring her question.
"Why would I have brought my bags if I didn't intend to stay?" She smiles pleasantly.
I stand up and extended my hand to her smiling.
"Good to meet you Juniper!" I greet, finally acknowledging the young woman.
"Soooo I'll just go put these in the room next to yours, yeah?" Liem says, obviously meaning the baggage.
"Sure Liem." I agree.
He leaves the room as I take another sip of my tea.
"So are you two together?" Juniper asks quietly.
Tea spurts violently out my nose. I choke, cough and sputter. Then the laughter ensues. Her eyes widen to the size of saucers.
"No way that's ever happening! He is like a brother to me! EW!" I blurt after I can breathe again.
"So he is single?" She says badly masking her true intentions.
"Yeah, why you interested?" I jeer.
"Uh yeah..." She says quietly. I look her over again.
"Honey how old are you even?" I say in shock.
"21." She whispered.
"Oh my sweet summer's child." I say pulling her in for a hug.
She awkwardly pats me on the back, as I let go of her to clean up the smatterings of tea off the floor.
