Chapter 3

"What's your favorite colour?" Sahadev asked, as everyone gazed at him, since he was the youngest and the quietest, they had offered him the first chance.

"Boo boo. That's boring anuj." Teased Nakul, earning a chop on his head by Bheem. "Shut up, don't be mean, it's his turn." He admonished  lightly.

"You sound so much like mata at this moment." Nakul grumbled, rubbing the back of his head. "Well I am her favorite son after all." He shot back cheerily.

"Ex-squeeze-the- hell- meeeee." The elder twin began, suddenly turning to the second pandav son, squinting his eyes.

"I am the favorite, and everyone in the universe knows that." He deadpanned.

Bheem snorted, a smirk playing on his lips. "No dear brother, that is you dreaming with open eyes." He teased.

"It's so not!" The younger one tossed back.

"It so is." The elder one shot back.

"So not."

"So is."

"So not."

"So is."

"So not."

"So is..."

"Okay guys. Enough, stop bantering. We clearly are grown ups, so let's behave like adults. And besides everyone knows I am mata's favorite. So relax already." Arjun stated, rolling his eyes at his brothers.

"Heh? When did that happen?" Bheem asked sarcastically,  " Arjun bhraata is hallucinating jyest." Teased Nakul, the two laughed sharing a high five, Bheem wrapped his arm around Nakul's neck, pulling him closer, as the two chuckled hard.

"What the heck?! I am the favorite! Jyest tell them!" He exclaimed almost in horror, turning to a very amused Yudhisthir who raised his brow, and hands up in surrender, shaking his head.

"Traitor!" The thrid son of Kunti accused, in mock fury, as the other three brothers roared in laughter.

"Aw did someone hurt your feelings baby brother?" Teased Bheem, pinching Arjun's cheek, who beamed rolling his eyes.

He seriously loved his brothers to death, without them life was like a lake that existed but never flowed, but with them it was like an alive thriving river.

Panchaali gazed at the brothers, her heart melting at the sight. Years of bonding and love, it was apparent through their actions.

They were practically each other's world. A smile bloomed on her face, as through the veil, she watched them banter and playfully argue.

Completely forgetting about her existence, and the game that they once began. Not that she minded, she loved seeing them laugh and interact.

A bond so beautiful was something you didn't see everyday. One could see the love and affection, the mutual respect that they held for each other.

A bond so pure and strong, that had the capacity to fight every challenge. Princes who had practically abandoned their royal palace and a luxurious life, and opted to live a simple life as commoners.

That spoke a lot about their character, they  placed relationships higher than any other bond, who were great sons and even better brothers.

Men who selflessly aimed to live a simple life. Her smile dropped, as her heart froze, and now she was a threat to this bond.

Whether she liked to accept it or not,  she knew that a woman could make a break homes, her heart hurt.

What if she ever became the reason for...

She couldn't even think about it, her heart clenched, as a sharp bolt of agony shot through her.

No, she would never be the cause of any problem in their life. Like she had been before, darkness wrapped around her.

She was unwanted by her father, and she had been nothing but trouble in his life. The familiar ache of rejection pulsed through her chest.

Being rejected right after you step in the world by your parent, was a pain she couldn't put in words.

A tear tracked down her cheek, falling on her hand. She pushed the thoughts back, trying to push back the darkness that threatened to overwhelm her.

She had no right to cry, and have a pity party to herself, after all, didn't everyone in this world have issues? Some greater than hers.

She just needed to suck it up, problems will come up all the time, you can either bow and cry,  or smile and face them.

Yudhisthir silently watched his brothers banter, joy sparkling in his chest seeing them laugh. And just like that,  he felt  all was  worth it.

He felt worth it to grow up before time, when he had lost his father. He saw his childhood alive in them, the moments of joy that he had missed early on to look after them, made it all worth it in this one moment.

Moments like this made it feel like,  yes, whatever sacrifices he had made, no matter how big, or how small, it was all worth it.

His eyes fleeted to their bride, a new addition in their family, a unique bond that would either make them grow all stronger or shatter what he had nurtured over the years.

In his life Yudhisthir had never feared anything, as a warrior he believed in fighting head on.

He had been through many wars, and many battles, had faced worst of enemies and never a freckle of doubt had ever entered his heart.

But, now as he sat gazing at her, he feared, he feared that she might be the one thing that might snap them apart. He didn't blame her,  nor did he hate her.

Yes, they were in this situation together,  and this bond of theirs was unique.  No one knew how it would turn out for him or his brothers. They knew nothing about this girl.

What he knew, was that he would do everything to keep this family one. He would try to be as accommodating as he could for this new relationship.

He respected all her sacrifices, all her attempts. He was thankful to God, that if sharing a wife was their fate, than they had gotten one so understanding.

Who was going out of her way to make them comfortable in this new budding relationship.

A frown marred his face, as worry and confusion bloomed in his heart, as he saw  drop of water land on her hand.

Was she crying? But Why?

His gaze met with Bheem's,  whose smile dropped, he stopped mid sentence, the other two followed his gaze, and looked at Yudhisthir.

Arjun raised his brow in question,  Yudhisthir nodded his head towards the girl sitting across from them.

Nakul frowned not understanding what his brother wanted him to do, he wanted them to give attention to her?

Seeing Nakul frown Yudhisthir  pointed with his gaze at her hand, there sat a drop of water.

"He wants me to wipe that? Won't it be awkward, considering we just met her?" Nakul whispered to Bheem, who rolled his eyes, sometimes his brother could be so ignorant,  that he wondered if their mother had dropped him on his head as a child.

"No, you idiot. I think she's crying." Bheem stated back, the elder twin frowned. "But why?" He questioned.

"How the hell am I supposed to know?" Bheem shot back, whisper yelling.

"Because you are married." The elder twin shot back, "So are you now." Vrikodar deadpanned.

"Dude, you have two wives." The other reminded.

"Your point is?" The second son of Pandu asked, raising his brow quizzically at the elder son of Madri.

"You should know more about women, since you know,  you're more experienced." Nakul explained, looking at his brother weirdly, what in the heaven was wrong with his elder brother.

Practice makes a man perfect,  and he had practice with Hidimbi. He mentally groaned, that sounded so wrong on so many levels.

What he meant was that he should be able to predict women's emotions,  that was a science of its own that Nakul could never comprehend.

"Well, if that's the logic your applying, than you are more experienced than me, since you flirt with everything in the skirt, from a maid to a princess."  Came the bored reply from the strongest man that ever resided on the earth.

"Hey! I don't  flirt with them, they do with me. It's not my fault that I am the most handsome man in this world." He shot back, making Bheem roll his eyes, "In your dreams." He quipped, making the other huff.

"Guys. You guys can argue later, let's focus on the problem at hand." Arjun interjected, being the unofficially assigned referry to break their playful banter.

"Sahadev what do you suggest?" He asked turning to the wisest man, who looked at him like he had officially lost his brain.

"Jyest why are you asking me this?" He questioned,  gazing at Arjun confused. "Because you are supposed to be the smartest man on this earth?" Came the sarcastic reply of Dhanajay.

Seriously his brothers behaved like kids at times, Sahadev rolled his eyes. "I am scholar, not a woman expert." He deadpanned.

"From what I can tell you, there is no understanding woman,  they are just...I don't even know how to explain.  They just randomly do things,  that are like...women."  Bheem stated seriously.

The four looked at him like he had officially lost his mind, a year long marriage and this is his opinion?

Yudhisthir shook his head, when it came to women this four behaved like kids. Women are humans too right? How difficult was it to handle one?

Like common man had multiple wives,  and they had one, how difficult could it be?

"Are you alright?" He asked, ignoring the bantering of his brothers, a silence fell over as the four waited attentively for the reply.

She jolted, as though breaking out of some deep thoughts. She nodded,  but in his opinion it was a bit too fast.

Maybe she didn't want to speak about it. He respected her choices. "Why don't you lie down here, on the bed. Don't worry, we'll take the floor." He offered, worry lacing his words.

He watched as she shook her head, as her hand moved across the paper.

I'll take the couch.

Came her reply on the fine piece of paper, with her elegant writing. And before they could protest, she turned up, sitting on the couch near the window.

The five gazed at each other frowning, did they do something wrong? One moment, everything was fine,  the next she withdrew back.

"Maybe she's tired, it was a long day, we should let her rest." He said,  he understood,  it had indeed been a long day, the swayamvar,  the wedding processes, the shock of sharing a wife, the arguments and what not.

It had a been a long, and tuff day indeed, everyone was exhausted.  "Yes. Maybe." Arjun agreed as he stood up moving across the room, to the bed.

The awkwardness return as they gazed at the decorated bed. "Never in my life, I had thought that I would be sharing a matrimonial bed on my first night of wedding with my brothers." Nakul blurted, the four groaned annoyed at his implementation.

"Nakul, why do you always have to blurt out stupid stuff?" Bheem quipped, he loved his brother to death, but at times Nakul just made him want to bang his head on the nearest wall.

The man in question laughed, annoying siblings was a pleasure of its own.

He grinned flopping on the bed, he posed sexily, making a kissy face. "Come on honey, let's have some fun." He said seductively, tracing his fingers on his cheek, and biting his pointer finger.

"Ew." Sahadev and Arjun shuddered in disgust. "Gross!" Bheem groaned, scrunching up his face like he ate something unpleasant. Yudhisthir rolled his eyes at his antics.

"You're taking the floor." He stated, smirking. "What?! How is that fair?" Nakul spurted. "It is just a measure of protection so you don't get too close." Teased the eldest pandav making the three chuckle.

"Ha! And the justice prevails!" Bheem hooted, the room booming in his laughter. "You guys are such meanies." The eldest twin pouted.

His eyes sparkled with mischief, as he bolted up. "In fact you know what? I accept. I am sleeping on floor." He said, a little too enthusiastically, making the four raise their brows in confusion.

"Panchaali make space for me, here I come." Nakul called excitedly, zooming out of the bed, and bolting towards Panchaali,  whose head snapped up,  raising her brow in question,  though she knew he couldn't see her.

"I'll take the floor in front of the couch, that way you and I can have some beautiful talks." He flirted,  sitting beside her, taking her hand in his. Her cheeks heated, as her heart hammered in her chest.

A sudden fear arose in her chest, as she gazed at the reactions of other four from the corner of her eye.

What if one is jealous? Would they feel she is being unjust? A sigh passed through her lips, as she saw them roll their eyes at his tactics, beaming at their brother.

"Let the poor girl rest Jyest. We don't want her going crazy because of your torture." Sahadev teased, making Panchaali giggle, Nakul gasped in fake horror, his hands reaching to his chest,  covering his heart.

"You wound me Sakhi. I am your friend." He said faking pain, "Yea right.  She's a smart one, when she sees an idiot, she recognizes as one." Teased Bheem, smirking at his brother.

"Do you think I am an idiot?" Pouted the man, as he blinked his eyes innocently at her. She clanked her bangles once. "That's a no!" He beamed exclaiming.

"Finally! I found someone who appreciates my awesomeness." He continued on. "She's just too polite." Deadpanned Bheem.

"Hush brother, you're just jealous." He shot back humorously. "Oh come on, you both start bantering at every little thing!" Arjun groaned the words annoyed.

"Who? Us? Never." The two said in unison, blinking their eyes innocently, as they gave Arjun the most innocent look.

Panchaali giggled, her eyes  lit with humour, this two were just impossible. She loved their bond.

Arjun shook his head, smiling at the two, "Just sleep." He said turning on his feet, and flopping on the bed head first.

"Oh how I missed you my love." He practically moaned, cuddling a pillow closer.  "And the love making begins." Nakul quipped, earning four groans, and a giggle.

"Nakulllllll." The four called annoyed, "What did I say?" He asked innocently,  making them roll their eyes.

They all settled down, as Panchaali helped Nakul set up his makeshift bed on the ground. She had tried offering her couch, but he had refused everytime.

"Good night sleep tight, and don't let the night bugs bite." Sang a sleepy Arjun, earning a round of laughs. "Good night sleep tight, and no love makings and fights!" Nakul sang back,  earning four groans, as he and Panchaali chuckled.

A silence fell over the room, as darkness settled, a few minutes passed.

Nakul smirked, he was too active to sleep, he began making farting noises from his mouth.

"Nakul!" Warned Arjun. "What? I didn't even do anything! It was Bhraata Bheem, he ate too much laddoos at the wedding buffet!" He lied, Bheem gasped.

"What the hell?!" Bheem called offended, she giggled tears tracing down her corner from the humour.

"Goooddd nighhhhtttttttttt babiesssss!!!!" Nakul practically sang the words. She giggled, and the others laughed at his antics.

She bit her lips, as she tried controlling her laughter.  A few moments passed, not able to control herself she began to laugh again.

"Hush Panchaali,  bad manners, shouldn't laugh at Jyest's indigestion issues." Nakul added the fuel,  making Bheem groan as she giggled harder.

"Nakul." Yudhisthir called in a warning tone though, he himself, was highly amused. "What?  I didn't do anything!  It's Panchaali, whose being a bad bad girlllll." He teased, singing the words making her giggle harder.

"Hush everyone!" Exclaimed Arjun, biting back a laughter. A silence fell over, a few moments passed and soon Panchaali giggled again.

Nakul followed, Bheem too joined in. And others couldn't hold back either. Tears tracked down the corner of their eyes, as they laughed harder.

"Panchaaliii shhhh!" Called Yudhisthir  controlling his laughter, she laughed harder. "Panchaaliiii." Whined Arjun in between his laughter.

"Pannnnnchaaali li li li." Sang Nakul,  and her giggles doubled, and others joined in. . .
