Chapter 29
"Earth to Bhraata Bheem." Nakul called making his elder brother snap out of his memories of their cooking adventure.
"Come join us for a game." Arjun beckoned setting up dice game, "In which world were you lost in?" Yudhisthir asked Bheem, filling a glass of water for himself.
"The world of imagination where ladoos fly kheer flows like rivers." Nakul stated in a heavy voice, mimicking Bheem's deeper tone.
The others chuckled, Bheem wrapped his arm around Nakul's neck, pulling him in a headlock playfully.
"And reasons like this is why your ass gets kicked." He teased, amusement lacing his words. "I swear right? I am awesome like that." He gave an award winning smile to Bheem, who rolled his eyes heavenward, wondering if their mother had indeed dropped him on his head.
"Where are the dices?" Arjun asked, looking through the box, "Oh the dices?" Nakul asked, just as Bheem let him go.
"The ones with the red diamonds?" Nakul inquired, "Yes, did you see them?" Arjun questioned.
"The same one we got from Manipur?" Nakul inquired further, "Yes." Bheem answered this time.
"The one that had golden plating?" He went one. "Yes. Did you see them?" Arjun asked, hope lacing his words.
"Well the one with silver lining on the top?" Nakul went on, "Yes the very same one Nakul." Arjun greeted, now frustrated.
"Oh well those!" Nakul excited, "I saw them, where was it?" He pretend to think, "Oh yes! No where." He began excitedly and ended in a matter of fact tone, shrugging.
"You!" Arjun roared frustrated, picking the cushion, he lunged at Nakul, who chuckled and bolted ahead, while others laughed.
"Just you wait I am so going beat your ass till it's numb!" He threatened, running behind a chuckling Nakul, who made two swift turns, roaring in laughter.
"Brother can one fart if their ass is numb?" Nakul blurted, his face scrunched in a confused manner, as he and Arjun ran around a pillar.
"Just asking for future reference, since your planning to make my ass numb. By the way, mind you you're a lucky guy, my butt is probably the most handsome one, and you're the first one to touch it!" Nakul babbled, making Arjun freeze, his face scrunching up in disgust.
Bheem and Sehdev roared in laughter, "Naughty Arjunnnn!!" The second son of a Kunti mimicked in an old woman's voice.
"Wait that sounded so wrong!" Nakul exclaimed, realising his words. "I almost suggested incest! Haw brother I don't swing that way, I swear!" He went on, amusement lacing his words just as Arjun tackled him.
"Bromance to another level!" Sehdev added, earning another round of laughter.
"Eww just shut up Nakul. Trust me even if it's a matter of life and death, I'll still never chose you as my lover." Arjun shuddered in disgust, at the mental image. Pushing Nakul away he moved towards the bed.
While the other three were rolling in bouts of laughter, wiping the corner of their eyes, as tears streamed down. Their stomachs hurt.
"I know brother, I know, I am out of your league. But, hey its okay. Don't feel down, now not everyone can have a handsome stud." Nakul said in a fake sympathetic voice, the three laughed like hyenas gasping for air.
While Arjun shot him a dirty look, "Shut up, before I barf on your face." Arjun threatened, Nakul bursted out laughing, there was no greater pleasure than annoying your sibling.
Arjun rolled his eyes, suppressing a smile. "You know the opportunity for sex is still open!" Nakul taunted, one last time,
"YOU-"
"What is sex?" Arjun's words were cut off, by a very familiar feminine voice that had the five freezing, their face paled, bodies taut in tension.
All the laughter ceased, pin drop silence descended over the room. The familiar sound of her anklets filled the room, accompanied by the clanks of her bangles.
"What is sex Arya?" Panchaali asked her eyes locking on Nakul, who was frozen, his mouth opening and shutting, like a fish gapping for air.
"Uh...Drau?" He asked, flustered, panic filled his eyes, while he gazed at his brothers, raising a brow asking them what to answer.
His wife blinked up at him innocently, a confused frown marring her beautiful face.
Nakul wanted to kick himself, idiot you fool of a moron! What will you tell her now?
Gazing at her innocent face, who was looking at him expectantly for an answer, he felt like an complete idiot.
Why oh lord? Why did you make her so innocent? He groaned, gazing up at the ceiling.
As though waiting for God to speak back. His eyes settled on his brothers, who were silently laughing at him.
Traitors.
He mentally growled, not that he was angry at his siblings. But, damn it how do you answer a question like that?
"Uh it is... is ...is...jyest will tell you!" He exclaimed, relief flooding his system as he pointed at his eldest brother.
"Me?" Yudhisthir nearly squeaked, panic like never before flooded his system. What in the heaven was he supposed to tell?
Panchaali turned facing her first husband, waiting for an answer.
Nakul smirked, raising his hands in the air, he danced silently.
Yudhisthir gave him a lethal look, earning a wince from Nakul, he knew he'll be paying soon.
Yudhisthir's heart was beating rapidly, panic clutching his system. As Drau's eyes focused on him, he couldn't even lie.
He was stuck in a tight spot, he didn't wish to ruin her innocence, and he couldn't lie.
"The weather is so good today." He commented instead, "Um but Arya, it's scrunching hot today." Panchaali stated confused, the other four bit back a laugh.
It wasn't everyday they saw their perfect brother flustered, and they were thoroughly enjoying it.
"Oh yes. But heat is good." Yudhisthir blurted, what the heck? He wanted to face palm, really that is your best way to distract her?
He mentally snapped at himself.
"Actually Drau, I am not very good at explanation. You see, my brother Sehdev is awesome at it." Yudhisthir stated honestly, giving her a forced smile.
Amusement lit his words, as Sehdev's leg slipped, who was walking towards the bed, and fell face first on the ground.
His face smashed in the floor hard, hearing his name suddenly, shock filled him, making his feet tangle in the carpet, and slip.
"Oh my god!" Panchaali exclaimed in worry, rushing towards him. "Are you alright?" She asked, helping him.
Groaning, he flipped, his nose was completely red, and the tip swollen like tomato.
Pressing their lips in a thin line, the four controlled their laughter.
Panchaali just blinked, not really sure how to react.
Just bruised ego.
Sehdev thought, sitting up, touching his throbbing nose.
"Yes, I am good." He replied, giving her an awkward smile, she smiled at him sympathetically.
Three bursted out laughing, while the eldest son on Kunti gazed at his youngest brother with an amused look.
Panchaali crouched beside Sehdev, "Hush Arya! You all shouldn't be laughing, that's mean." She admonished, her voice soft.
"Oh my god! Oh my god!" Nakul gasped in between his laughter, trying to catch his breath.
"God bless your soul Drau, but that dear voice of yours won't ever scare the kittens." Bheem beamed like a goof, his voice playful, as he watched his wife stand and move to the side table, where some packets of medicines, were kept just in case.
"Well that's not true. I can be scary." She stated, her voice laced with confidence, and Arjun laughed harder, this time for an different reason.
"I believe you!" Nakul exclaimed, grining broadly, his voice suggested completely opposite that what he said.
"Yes. I know you do." She replied sarcastically, pulling the drawer open she removed a packet, reading the label, she chose one for bruises.
"How sweet." Arjun added, grinning. She fitted right in with them, like she had been a missing piece of puzzle that they had no idea was missing.
And now that she was here, he could never imagine not having her around.
Sure, it was a short period of time since he had known her, but the speed with which his emotions were growing scared him at times.
She emptied the contents of the packet in a silver bowl, and poured some water from the jug, that rested on the nightstand.
Preparing the mixture, she walked up to Sehdev, smiling down at him.
His heart skipped a beat, gazing at her walking towards him, made him feel like he was in some sort of trance.
It seemed more of a dream than reality, she crouched in front of him. "I am going to apply this." She catiouned, her voice soft, a note of concern laced in her words.
He just nodded, he wanted to look away from her, that beautiful face. But, no matter how much he tried, he just couldn't, as though he was bewitched.
Her vanilla fragrance wrapped around him, like a warm blanket. She leaned closer, worry filling those dark fiery eyes.
The golden in her eyes, shimmered low with worry. Blowing air on his bruise, with delicate ministrations she applied the medicine.
"I am so sorry." Apologising every now and than, he bit back a smile, warmth unfurling deep within him.
Something in him melted at her concern. Did she forget he was warrior? That bruises like this didn't even faze him?
It was all too heart warming seeing someone be so worried about him, treating him with such care.
Other than his mother, no one really had been this careful with his injuries.
He treated, and it was a job he loved to do, he preferred the solitude it offered, when he went collecting medicines, making different medicines.
And being in this profession, he mostly took care of himself. But, today after a very long time, someone was doing that for him, even if it was as insignificant as a bruise.
It mattered to him, her care, her concern mattered to him.
He helped many people, and over the years, there were few who truly reciprocated truly this sense of helping without a condition.
There were very few who became upset seeing other's pain, and she was one such person, her innocence and selflessness drew him to her, like an unseen thread holding the two together.
"Done." Her voice had him snapping out of his musings, he gazed away, noticing that he had indeed had been staring at her for too long.
"Thank you." His voice was soft, for a fraction of second their eyes met, those dark pools with golden fire crackling in them drew him in like a moth.
Those eyes, they were most beautiful.
"Wanna play a game Drau?" Nakul asked from where he sat across from Yudhisthir, a game of dice was set up.
Bheem sitting beside the two, and Arjun opposite to him.
When they had moved there Draupadi and Sehdev had no idea. The two blushed at the realisation, that they had indeed been lost in their own world.
"No, I'll just watch." She whispered shyly. "You Dev?" Bheem asked, with a smirk on his face, his teasing expression had Sehdev's cheeks dusting red.
"Nah, I am good." He stated, clearing his throat as he stood up. Holding his hand out to her, she gazed at his hand and back up at him, blushing, she let her hand rest in his.
His huge hands wrapped around hers, drawfing her hands in his. He helped her stand up, and the two walked towards the rest.
Bheem patted the place near him, looking pointedly at Panchaali, who smiled at him.
His heart thundered, her beauty seemed to reach new heights everytime she smiled.
With flushed cheeks, sat in between Bheem and Yudhisthir.
Yudhisthir leaned back his one hand resting behind him, slightly behind Panchaali's waist, supporting his body.
She felt cosy, as on the other side Bheem sat, caging her between the two, and the wall on her back.
The table that reached till their chest when they sat, that held the game, boxed her in from the front.
They sat in the corner, where mattresses were laid down around the small gaming table, creating a cosy place with lots of cushions and blankets around.
The game began, Panchaali watched silently, Bheem leaned closer, whispering in her ears, "cheat." His warm breath fanned on her skin, making her shudder.
She gazed at him wide eyes, "But Arya. . ." Her heart thundered, while she gazed at him wide eyes.
He smirked winking at her, a mischievous grin broke on her lips, while she focused on the game.
She casually folded her hands on the table, leaning forward.
"I heard there are beautiful waterfalls in Hastinapur." She bluffed, she wasn't even sure if there were any, she just needed a distraction, and began the topic.
"Oh yes there are, it's on the western forests." Nakul began, smiling at her. "Do you all ever go there?" She asked, it was a stupid question, to be honest.
Hastinapur was their home, of course they did.
"Oh yea, when we go for hunting we do." Arjun stated, rolling the dices.
She pushed a piece of Yudhisthir's back, from his original place, Bheem smirked.
With his next roll of dice, Yudhisthir's piece was out. "I thought it was on the safe part?" Sehdev asked confused.
Nakul shrugged rolling the dice away, Draupadi simultaneously slapped the table lightly, making it fall one on each, instead of five.
He frowned.
Yudhisthir smirked, his eyes focused on Panchaali. Amusement lit his face.
"What are the punishment for cheaters?" He randomly asked, "Depends who is cheating." Arjun answered, knowing all too well what he meant.
Panchaali bit her tongue, shutting her eyes. Ops seems like she is caught.
"The cheater indeed should be punished harshly." Bheem's voice held amusement.
Panchaali's mouth hung open in shock, while she turned to face him.
"Traitor!" She exclaimed half in shock, though there were no heat in her words, just amusement.
"I cheated because you told me to!" She ranted on, glaring at him in mock anger. "What? You cheated?" The twins said surprisef in unison.
"I? And told you to cheat? Tsk! Tsk! Oh god this is indeed righteousness waning. I? An innocent child, would ever provoke you devi? The one who is born of fire." Bheem said in the most innocent voice, joining his hands in front of him.
Giving her an angelic smile. She squinted her eyes at him, "That's a lie!" She accused, playing along.
He was such a dramatic one, she thought.
"You broke a rule. You need to be punished." Yudhisthir stated pointedly, suppressing a smile.
Panchaali turned facing him, "How is it my fault Dharmraj, I was just following my husband's orders." She stated, her voice ringing with mischief.
Yudhisthir suppressed a smirk, impressed at her point. "Indeed, but the husband in question denies all such claims." He went on pointing to Bheem.
Who instantly joined his hands, and gave the most innocent look.
"Attack!" Out of nowhere Nakul shouted, wrapping his hand around the pillows, throwing them at Bheem, Panchaali and Yudhisthir.
"Oh it's a war!" Bheem roared playfully, kicking the pillows right back.
Panchaali giggled ducking, and dodging. As Yudhisthir, retaliated back.
Sehdev and Arjun helped Nakul, throwing pillows back. They unofficially divided in two teams.
Bheem, Yudhisthir and Panchaali in one, and the rest in the other.
Their laughter rang throughout the room, and her giggles mixing right in with them.
"I am going to win this war!" Arjun roared playfully.
"Dreaming with open eyes is a crime!" Bheem shot a pillow, hitting him square in the face, knocking him back down.
Laughter filled the room. "You're so gonna pay for this!" Dhananjay warned, humor tinting his words, as he jumped across the table, making Panchaali squeal, and stumble back, before giggling and bolting away.
They spread up, running across the room, throwing pillows at each other with vigor.
Where they hit each other with their complete strength, almost knocking the other up.
The hits on Panchaali were softer.
She dodged, giggling, as she bolted around the bed, Nakul high on her tail.
"Har har Mahadev!!" He gave a battle cry, his chuckle following soon after. "Surrender! Or you shall lose your life!" He called imitating a fake commanding voice.
"Never!" She squealed, her body pumped with excitement, another round of giggles passing through her lips, as she ran faster.
Picking up a pillow, she threw it back, as she dodged another one of his. Her pillow smashed square in his face, "I win!" She cheered, jumping in excitement.
A pillow hit her back, making her stumble, she caught herself, turning her head, squiting her eyes at the culprit.
"No you don't!" Sehdev grinned, jumbling another pillow in his hand, he smirked.
"Oh the target is in the trap!" Nakul cheered, as he jumped on his feet. She turned around, as the two lunged at her.
Their weights settled on her, as she squirmed giggling.
"Let me go!" She screamed, half giggling. "Never!" Nakul said chuckling along."Surrender!" Sehdev stated.
"Never!" She half giggled, "Than here the torture behins." Nakul stated grinning evilly, as he and Sehdev began tickling her.
She squealed, squirming under them, as her symphony of giggles filled the room.
The two chuckled along, joy and mischief heavy in air.
"This is cheating!" She squealed, and they tickled her harder, making her laugh all the more loudly, she gasped for air, tears tracing down the corner of her eyes.
"Arya!!!" She shouted, the two froze, as they turned around just in time, to see Bheem and Yudhisthir, flip them on the ground, as the two sat heavily on the twins.
Tickling them, "She cheats even in this!" Nakul accused, laughing hard. "Yup!" Bheem said proudly, tickling the two away.
The five soon fell on the bed, breathing heavily, tugging Panchaali along with them.
"That was fun!" Arjun said grinning.
"Yea, I loved kicking your ass!" Bheem added, earning a round of laughs, Arjun rolled his eyes, beaming broadly.
They breathed heavily, cooling off the sweat. Grining at the ceiling.
Panchaali lay beside the five, her eyes growing heavy from all the running, and soon the five followed her suit, getting lost in the world of slumber. . .
