Chapter 10

"Control your anger, Bheem."  Yudhisthir stated, walking with his brothers on the bank of river Ganga, the only place where they found solace.

"But Bhraata -" his words were cut off as they heard the musical voice of a woman.

They froze never had they heard such a serene and musical voice, one that was perfect for poetry.

Their hearts skipped the beat in their chest, as they heard her ask.

"What is worse for a child than their parent figure loosing faith in them? And doubting them?"  Arjun gazed at the back of his wife, he could see that she was talking to her handmaid.

Her voice reverberating through the place,  as it held a curious tone. It was musical,  entrapping, the baritone of it wrapping around him and his brothers, pulling them in a trace.

Their faces grew serious as they heard her continue on, Sahadev frowned, why was she having this conversation at the banks of river Ganga, when she could have had the conversation in her room?

Something was missing here,  and he didn't understand what. Their hearts soared as they heard her question, the answers to which if one thought closely would prove their innocence.

Time seemed to have slowed down, as they watched her ask questions after questions,  if only she was their representative at the royal court, Yudhisthir had no doubt that they would have been proved innocent by now.

Bheem and Nakul wanted to reach out and touch her, was she real? They froze along with his brothers, as they watched her eyes lift, she joined her hands, they followed her gaze and saw Bhism.

Their hearts ceased for a moment, while they watched her turn and leave. Their minds blanked, all the missing puzzle pieces clicked in the places, as they gazed at Bhism to the retreating figure of Panchaali.

The conversation that she was having with her handmaid, swirling in their minds, it was all a show for Pitahmah to hear her out.

Their hearts squeezed, as a warmth unfurled in their chest. Over the years  no one had really ever taken their side, no one had taken this step to protect them.

The mighty pandavas were capable of everything, that's what all believed, but she had taken the step to prove their innocence.

Gratitude, Admiration and Respect, unfurled in them, she was putting in her every effort to weave their relationship stronger. Than how can they ever step back?

They watched as mata Ganga appeared next to Pitahmah. "Yes mata, I am very happy today. My five grandsons have found the perfect bride.  The queen that Hastinapur had awaited all along has finally stepped in.

The daughter that I had awaited, who would make this family one once again, is here." They heard their grandfather speak, the pandavas smiled,

For they knew, truer words were never spoken before. . .

"Arrest the pandav brothers!" The order bounced off the walls, the unceremonious amount of anger echo through each syllable.

Dhritrashtr's chest heaved with fury, while he sat in the family room, with his sons and brother in law.

A long debate, and a lot of assumptions later,  the best course of action they had come up to arrest the pandav brothers, for their treacherous act of drawing out their weapons in the court of Hastinapur.

He would have had them arrested there, but there were too many witnesses,  not everyone would favor his decision, and he wasn't exactly planning on entertaining any rebels, who would prove to be threat to his throne.

A smirk plastered on his face,  their protector, their Pitahmah was not in the palace too. Duryodhan had managed to send him away, on some important work of alliance, that they made it look, like it required hid immediate attention.

He heard the marching sound of the soldiers feet, that were slowly growing distant,  this would teach the Pandu son's, to go against him. . .

The moon anchored itself in the night sky, his twinkling companions littered the dark blanket.

The wind brought with a crispness, that signaled the soon approaching winter. As though the sun had decided to move to more favoring sceneries.

The silver of the twilight lit the room, a serene silence filling it. Panchaali sighed, her heart light from all the feelings that were roaring in her.

All the questions and everything, had come to a halt. A deadly silence. Where there was nothing, but a stillness. A peace. An acceptance.

For once life was falling back in some sort of rhythm. The sounds of the footsteps, alerted her the arrival of her husbands.

"You seemed to be lost in some deep thoughts." It was a statement,  that didn't need confirmation, and when had Prince Yudhisthir of Hastinapur,  had ever been wrong?

She turned her head slightly,  her back now facing the window, as she looked through her veil, as the five silhouettes walked in. Their posture relaxed, and a calmness settled around them.

"You know Panchaali, I think Pitahmah will understand us. He will make everyone understand,  why we did and what we did." Arjun began, hinting that they had been there,  waiting for her to reveal that she had talked to him about it.

That it was her who had convinced Pitahmah, but all he earned was a nod. He watched as she walked across the room, and picked up the paper and quill.

Of course he will. He is your grandfather. Who better  can understand their child?

He read the reply.

"Maybe someone made him understand." Hinted Nakul, as he sat on the swing, she gazed at him, biting her lip. Could he possibly know?

Of course not. There was no one except her, when she had approached the Ganga river. There was no way.

Silence followed his statement.

How was your day?

Instead came the reply, the five shared a look, she was not going to reveal her talk with Bhism that much was clear. Doing good for someone, and not even taking credit, now that's a quality that they knew one doesn't find everyday.

And this particular girl surprised them all the more. When they thought that they had pretty much figured her out, she managed to surprise them once again.

"By the way what should we call you? Yagseni or Draupadi?" Teased Bheem, her eyes widened, as for a moment her heart ceased to beat.

They had heard her? She bit her lip, shutting her eyes. Oh god, were they angry? Did they mind that she had talked with Pitahmah Bhism? Did they hate her interference?

She didn't mean to interfere,  just felt that she could put forth her point in a better manner.

"Do you know what does that mean?" Yudhisthir asked, his voice firm, though his eyes lit with humour. She shook her head, gazing down at the floor, her bottom lip quivered, she was in trouble, wasn't she?

"That means that now you don't need this. You can talk freely to us." Bheem stated, plucking out the paper and quill from her hand.

Panchaali's  shoulders sagged, relief flooded her system. "So, you aren't angry?" Came a timid question, their eyes lit with humour.

"And that is the first thing you ask?" Teased Nakul, making her cheeks warm up, as the four laughed, Yudhisthir smiled, amusement lit his eyes.

"Finally, I was so damn tired with all this reading writings.  Now you can speak freely." Bheem sighed dramatically,  plopping down on the pillow, illiciting a giggle from her.

"We still need to get rid of this veil." Sahadev stated pointing at her veil, "Ha! Nearly two days married and I haven't seen my bride,  damn that's a crime all together on a different level." Teased Arjun, sitting beside Bheem earning a chuckle from all.

"Bet it, I'll be the first one to see her face." Nakul announced,  "Dream on,  that'll be me." Bheem bantered. "Like I'll sit around idly." Snorted Arjun, "I will win." Sahadev stated simply, like one stated a fact.

"I am in too. Let the best men win." Teased Yudhisthir,  announcing a playful competition among the brothers. "Get ready to be defeated-" Bheem's words were cut off, as eight soldiers marched in.

"How dare you?!" Roared the second son of Pandu, his eyes blazing with fury, as he glared at the men, who had marched right in his wife's chambers.

"Don't you know that any male except us is barred from entering this room?!" Roared Arjun, standing fiercely, his eyes glaring at the soldiers.

"Walking in a woman's room at late hours is a crime, are you not aware of it?!" Growled Nakul, fury thrumming through him. What if they hadn't been here, how can they just walk in like that.

"Forgive us your highness. But we were ordered by King Dhritrashtr to enter in here, and arrest you brothers." Stated a soldier, walking ahead, bowing, his voice laced with terror.

"Arrest? At this late hours? And for what reason?!" Roared an angry Bheem, his breathing coming in harsh pants as he glared at the man ahead of him. How can they just walk in?

How dare they? And how can Tatshree Dhritrashtr give such a permission of entering their wife's room?!

"Bheem calm down." Yudhisthir's voice was calm, and even, though he wanted nothing more than to slam them against the wall for entering their wife's room at such an ungodly hour.

His eyes settled on his wife, who had backed away near the wall. She wired her fingers, fidgeting nervously.

He could practically see her trembling in fear, as she gazed around at them, at the scene playing in front of them.

"Move out. Will be out in awhile." He ordered, his voice laced with an authority,  that left no room for further arguments. . .
