BRIEF SUMMARY: A private island. A cryptic letter. And a trail of violence that reaches back twenty years ago. Ex-policeman Tom Lomax is down on his luck- he's lost his job, his wife, and he's just been punched in the face. So when Sara Eaton, a woman he's never met, offers to fly him out to her private island he's happy to get away. But hours after his arrival, everyone on the island is killed and Sara and Tom are forced to run for their lives. As they make their way across Europe, they unravel a story that all started with the abduction of a one-year-old girl twenty years ago.
REVIEW: I really enjoyed this book, more than I thought I would. I mean it is a slightly trashy and predictable thriller, but I enjoyed that for some reason. The characters are extremely loveable, and it's action-packed from start to end; I really didn't want to put this book down and every chapter seemed to end on a cliffhanger.
There were parts that I didn't predict that really surprised me (in a good way) and overall I left the book feeling very happy and fulfilled- the sort of feeling you get after reading a great book. For some reason, this book really relaxed me and I fell in love with it almost instantly. The pretence was really cool to me, and the complex story intrigued me throughout.
FINAL VERDICT: This was a great thriller, and I liked it even more that I had been able to guess the ending from the start because I felt highly intelligent. Guessing the ending didn't ruin the actual ending for me, because I second-guessed my theories constantly.
