The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson

READ: 25.01.17 - 29.01.17

BOOK: The Girl Who Played With Fire

AUTHOR: Stieg Larsson

GENRE: Crime Fiction/ Thriller

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: This is the second book in Stieg Larsson's trilogy, however the plot to this book differs greatly from the last. The main focus of this book seems to fall heavily on Salander, who has been abroad for a year. She becomes a prime suspect in a murder investigation, and Blomkvist is set on proving her innocence.

REVIEW: This book was action-packed from the very start. I was rushed into a whirlwind of events, and became completely obsessed with the plot line. I read two hundred pages in one sitting- that means something!

The middle of the book was slower, and it was bogged down by explaining a lot of events in the past which I still do not see the relevance of, however this was soon forgotten by the plot twists that followed. I gasped audibly more than once at a revelation in the book, and I was on the edge of my seat for a majority of it.

You really see a different side to the characters in this book, especially Salander. Finding out about her past was one of my favourite parts of the book, and seeing vulnerability in a character who I thought had little to no emotions was fascinating.

You will be shocked in moments, and wonder what the hell will happen next. The ending is left wide open for the next book, as most second books are.

FINAL VERDICT: If you've read the first book, it will be no surprise that you read the second one. It was purely brilliant.

RATING: 9/10
