Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

READ: 17.10.17 - 19.10.17

BOOK: Death on the Nile

AUTHOR: Agatha Christie

GENRE: Murder Mystery

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The tranquillity of a cruise along the Nile is shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway has been shot through the head. She was young, stylish and beautiful, a girl who had everything – until she lost her life.

Hercule Poirot recalls an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: 'I'd like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.' Yet in this exotic setting' nothing is ever quite what it seems...

REVIEW: I love Agatha Christie and I was so excited to read this book because it seemed really exciting. What I love about her books is that it makes you question each and every character, and I love that shock ending. However, the book left me feeling quite underwhelmed.

Up until the actual reveal of the murderer, I was so invested in this book. I was throwing theories about left, right, and centre because I was waiting for that massive shock reveal where it would turn out to be the old woman or the unsuspecting young girl. But the resolution and 'plot twist' felt really predictable, and just too obvious.

It was still a really interesting read, and packed with such varied and intriguing characters who all seemed quite shifty at various points. I can't wait to read more from the Poirot series, I loved him in this book because he was so suave and calm.

FINAL VERDICT: A book I think would be best read in the sun with a nice cold drink, and something to be read in one go.

RATING: 7.5/10
