Body Positivity
It's okay to look in the mirror and feel good about yourself for once. It's okay look in the mirror and think "Wow, I look good today." There's nothing egocentric or conceited about it feeling happy in your own skin. You should. When you look in the mirror, take a moment to acknowledge your good features.
Maybe you have pretty eyes or cute lips. Is your workout routine starting to pay off? Or maybe you're starting to fill out your curves nicely.
Did you put on your makeup well today? Or maybe you got your hair just right. Did you notice how good your outfit looks on you?
Do what makes you comfortable and happy in your own body. If that's going on a diet or working out, putting on makeup, dying your hair, getting piercings. If it's even getting surgery, do those things. If you feel that you need to change in order to feel happy, that's perfectly fine. Don't let anyone shame you. Make sure they're your own choices and do them confidently.
But at the end of the day, you're not entitled to look good for anybody. You don't have to be pretty or attractive. You don't have to look good for anyone. If you can look in the mirror and smile, that's all that matters. Like I said in the previous chapter, beauty is subjective and therefore immeasurable, incomparable. Beauty standards are constantly changing, but your body is always yours. So why spend time trying to adhere to others' criteria?
People who waste their time trying to make others insecure and feel bad are just insecure themselves and trying to make themselves feel better. Why try to change for someone who doesn't have your best interest in mind? If someone can look at you and only see flaws, they're not worth changing for.
