Today I sat beside my suicidal friend and watched her breakdown, cry, stifling tears, and just give up for a while.
It might seem rude but I sat there thinking what is the importance of tears.

Biologically, tear glands are there to keep our eyes moist. They are to lessen the friction of eyelids and keeping eyes clear.
But then there are tears.

Tears of joy.

Tears of anger.

Tears of sorrow.

Such a wide range of emotions are expressed through the overflowing saline solution.

You cannot predict the intensity of grieve without tears in other person's eyes.

You cannot predict the overwhelming joy without tears in your eyes.

Anger without moist eyes is doesn't convey feelings like with the moist ones.

Perhaps tears just express what our mouth can't. They are there to get our message across which we are too embarrassed to say out loud.

I remember tearing up looking at my friend who wants to kill herself. I cry alongside her knowing how much she is suffering.
Is this behavior learned that tear up every time I see her breaking down?
Or do I sympathize with her?
What if I am selfish enough not to get hurt because she is hurting and it is me who can't take it anymore and want her to stick around for my convenience?

I have no control over my tears. As much I try to control them, they are always threatening to be spilled whenever they get the chance. I hate spending them because that shouldn't be their purpose. They shouldn't be there betray and reveal all the secrets I want to keep inside.

As much I hate them, I understand them too. I see people around me showing their powerful emotions through them, I wonder, are my feelings are reaching to others as much as their feelings reach me?

Can they get the meaning behind my shed and unshed tears?

Are they enough to convey my message that I don't have to use words?

I hope they are.
