After the tragic death of her husband, she is protective of her daughter and company. She let Pina be homeschooled and rarely let her leave the company and house for fear of her daughter dying without her being there to prevent it. As a result, she is very protective and doesn't allow anyone near her daughter unless it is someone she absolutely trusts which is rare. She is paranoid about her daughter's safety after her husband's death. She only wants her daughter to grow up in a safe place and live her life to fullest potential. As a result, she doesn't let her daughter leave the World Tree nor their home. She was very worried when Proserpina was accepted into RSA. She is proud of her daughter who followed in their footsteps but she still worries. Her daughter also reminds her of her husband which worries her more since she has a strong sense of helping others and standing up for what is right in her eyes. As a result, she only lets certain individuals be near her daughter such as Mentha who she approves of her. She doesn't approve of her friends in RSA, but she starts to be lenient after her Overblot. She is learning about her daughter and her friends and partner, even if she does worry. After her Overblot, she starts to relax and be lenient with her daughter and herself. She starts to relax and understands that her daughter is growing up and will have to make her choices. As for herself, she decides to take certain breaks and let herself finally enjoy life since the passing of her husband.
Backstory:
She was born into the Ver family and lived a simple life. She later attends RSA and met her husband. They fell in love and married right after high school. He took her last name and works for her company. Together, their company flourished wonderfully. They were both delighted when they discovered she was pregnant with Proserpina. They threw a party and even invited the Shrouds who were expecting Idia. The Vers were a happily family and spread their joy and helped others as much as they could. Once her daughter and Idia were born and around the age of 4, they met at another party. This party was to celebrate the next Ver and Shroud who would perform the rite. She was a little worried, but her husband reassured her when he saw how happy Pina and Idia were getting along. She let their friendship continue. They went to another party where Pina met Ortho and the three of them grew to be close friends. To strengthen their relationship, her husband went to meet with the Shrouds at S.T.Y.X. It was the day Idia hacked into the system so he and Ortho could have an adventure. After the experiment broke free, killed Ortho, and knocked out Idia, her husband helped the employees and rushed to save Idia but died in the process. This broke Mater who forbid her daughter from meeting Idia again, sued S.T.Y.X, cover her husband's death, and hates the Shrouds for his death. She is more paranoid, stricter, and harsh to her employees and is overprotective of her daughter's safety. This leads her to isolating herself and her family and has no days of relaxing since she wants her company to be flourishing and her daughter to be safe.
Relationships:
Her Husband:
She loved her husband dearly, even after his death. Both were always seen together and rarely apart. He was always her support and had always cared for her no matter what. He didn't mind hearing her troubles and shared his hopes with her as well. Despite their different standings and backgrounds, both were in love and cared for each other. Some say the love of Aphrodite blessed their marriage to be filled with love and joy for as long as they were alive. This love even spread to when their daughter was born as they were happy to be a family. Once he died, she changed drastically and blames herself for not attending since she was looking after the World Tree and their daughter. His death changes her to be protective, serious, and focused on her company and the future for her daughter. She never let herself fall in love since she loved her husband so much and knows no one can ever give her the same love he gave.
Proserpina:
She loves her daughter so much and only want what is best for her. When she was born, it was a fresh spring breeze blowing over her. She found her daughter to be adorable and filled with light. She only wants to give her the best life and support her throughout her endeavors and prepare her to take over the company in the future. She loves showing her off and helps her understand economics and business skills she'll need to one day run the company. She also teaches Pina how to use her unique magic, garden, and anything and everything that comes to plant life. She wants her daughter to have the necessary skills for it Though, she kept Pina homeschooled until she received a letter asking for her to attend Royal Sword. Her mother is thrilled, but she is hesitant. She does let her daughter go, because the school would prepare her for properly running the company and make wonderful connections to any potential business partners. She is even more thrilled that her daughter ends up in the same dorm as hers. Pina loves her mother very much, but she also wishes her mother wouldn't be overprotective and could move on from her dad's death. She doesn't remember most of her father, but she knows her dad would want her mother to move on and do something more in life. Since Pina's been attending RSA, she loves the freedom and enjoys her friends, so she wishes her mother would let her have more freedom and enjoy life in her own image. Of course, she's a little worried about telling her mother this since she is the only family member she has left. Pina also feels great pressure to live up to her mother. Her mother is regarded as one of the best businesswomen of their time and her magic is unparallel to previous mages in their families. She wants to be the best owner of the company later in life and live up to her mother's expectations as well. In the end, both truly love and care for each other and support each other as well. If they have a disagreement or issues, it is about Idia and his family. Pina doesn't blame Idia for her father's death and Ortho's and notices how much pain he gone through. Pina also fell in love with Idia for his caring nature for his younger brother and knows he is smart, caring, and handsome person as well. Her mother doesn't want her to be near Idia for fear of something terrible to befall her. She also doesn't believe Idia will ever be good enough for her either. She is also worried Idia would want to take her away forever and keep her daughter in the cold labs of S.T.Y.X. Though, this is far from the truth and later, she approves of Idia. After her Overblot, Mater sees her daughter in a new light and realizes she's growing up and standing on her own. As much as she wants her daughter to be with her, she knows Pina is growing up and wants to explore the world and do what she wants to do. She just hopes Pina won't forget about her along the way. She slowly starts to approve of Idia and their relationship. Later in life, she is very pleased how well they get along and work together. She soon loves Idia and Ortho as if they were her own kids and see herself and her husband in him and her daughter.
The Shrouds:
Although they rarely interacted, she doesn't particularly like them, but she does have a great respect for their knowledge and skills with blot. Growing up and hearing the stories of the Shrouds made her believe they were terrible people that only cared for magic and blot. She carried this further and added more after her husband dies at their facility when one of their experiments gets out. They only speak when it comes to business and maintaining the special lock in S.T.Y.X to prevent the Titians and blot from escaping. She's one of the few people who do know what the parents look like and even holds business meetings on schedule with them. After her Overblot, she does pay them a visit and apologizes to them for her anger and frustrations. Though the parents accept it, they move on easily compared to her and were unaware of her frustrations when her husband perished at their company. She is respectful to them and does her best to treat them as good business partners and family later in life.
Idia:
She does not like Idia at all. She blamed and took out her frustrations on him and his family for her husband's death and the stories from old as well. She doesn't want him near her daughter for fear of something terrible happening to her, and she doesn't believe Idia to be good enough to be near her. She is aware of Idia's skills, but she doesn't approve of his attitude and behaviors either. She isn't pleased to discover that he rebuilt his little brother when he should remain dead since his did die. After hearing about his Overblot and nearly unleashing the Titans and blot onto their world, she protested with Olympus about having him intern, but they wanted Idia for his skills and since he had been punished, they were not going to deny him a future with them, much to her frustrations. Idia respects her and understands her hatred for him. He never tried to fight her for her approval and understands why she blames him for her husband's death since he was the person who shut down the security system. As a result, he treats her with respect, takes her frustrations, and discouraging and rude remarks. He doesn't let her mock or ridicule his little brother, because he doesn't want Ortho to feel any guilt about her husband's death. Despite that, Idia does respect her for running a company by herself, especially one that handles the food, vegetations, and farms in their world. He's also impressed by her organization and business skills as well as her magic powers since hers are just as strong as the tales involving mother nature. When it comes to Pina, both want what is best for her and that is what they agree on. To both, Pina is a source of light and joy in their darkest moments, so Idia understands why her mother is so protective of her being around him. When Ortho dies, Idia shuts himself away from her to make sure she is safe, but he is surprised she continued to send letters and texts. He also pushes his love for her away since he doesn't want to get Pina in trouble with her mother and anger Miss Ver any further. Miss Ver is pleased to know Idia does have high regards for her daughter and wants what is best for her. She was also smug to Idia and wouldn't even let him have a chance to court her daughter if it ever came to that. After her Overblot, she starts to see Idia in a new light. Seeing him risk his life for her, her daughter, and their company, as well as using his skills to save them, she realizes that Idia does care and love her daughter and wants what is best for her and his friends. Seeing how he even protected her company and even stop her. He lets her recover at S.T.Y.X. and return to her company. He promises to her to be the best partner he can for her and lets them properly date. She is slowly accepting Idia, but later on in life, she is very pleased to see her daughter falling in love with someone who can listen, work, and love each other like her husband did with her.
Ortho:
Despite her frustrations with his family, she doesn't have as much as anger as she does with Ortho. Besides her husband that perished, she learned of Ortho dying as well and wasn't aware that Ortho was the one who wanted to leave S.T.Y.X. in the first place. She views Ortho as a child and someone who needs proper guidance and discipline to not be like his older brother. She does look down on Ortho for being related to the Shrouds and doesn't want him to associate with her daughter either. She heard about the event in S.T.Y.X and knows Ortho had a hand in nearly releasing the blot and Titians to help his brother which she is not pleased with. She isn't pleased that Idia also rebuilt Ortho when he should've died. Ortho is frustrated and afraid of her. Idia always takes the blame or talks with her while Ortho isn't allowed to. This frustrates him since he knows he should share the blame equally. But he is afraid of her since she's very powerful and is Pina's mother. He doesn't want to upset Pina and anger her mother. Also, he doesn't want their relationship to be worse since he knows Idia and Pina are good friends. After her Overblot, Ortho sees Miss Ver in a new light and understands her protective nature over her daughter. In a way, this reminds him of Idia and how he cares for him and Pina. Both start to warm up to each other and even keep in touch through texts about Idia, Pina, and their respective companies. She'll even start to send Ortho some gifts.
Mentha:
It was her who reviewed and interviewed Mentha to be an intern at the World Tree, thus she holds Mentha in high regards. She found Mentha smart and capable which are areas Pina lacks in. She also believes that Mentha can be a wonderful partner to her daughter when she will have to take over the company in the future. Mentha respects and views Miss Ver in very high regard. She wishes to be just as capable and strong as her. Mentha is amazed at how a powerful mage like her is able to run a company and pick herself up after everything she has been through. Mentha hopes to have a fraction of that kind of power in the future. In turn, both look out for Pina but for different reasons. Although Mentha views her highly and her role model, Miss Ver views her as a wonderful employee and person who she hopes will still work for her company and have a good relationship with her daughter and family.
Malleus:
She is surprised to learn that Pina has a good friendship with the sole heir to Briar Valley and is tense about it since Malleus is regarded as one of the most powerful mages of her time. She knows Malleus could harm her daughter and can be a threat. She is surprised to see him on good terms with her daughter and Idia and dating a magicless human. Malleus holds Miss Ver in a high manner since she's taking over her company. She reminds him of his grandmother since both experienced a tragedy and had to pick themselves up to run both places until he and Pina become of age to take over.
Chenya:
She doesn't think highly of the nosy 3rd year and doesn't believe he is a suitable friend for her daughter. She looks down on his statues as well since he's not from a wealthy family either. She wished her daughter would find better friends. After her Overblot, she sees how much Chenya cares for her daughter as a friend and slowly allows warms up to the idea of them being friends. She finds Chenya very strange, but he makes her daughter laugh and enjoy life, so he's not too bad.
RSA:
She thinks highly of this school and met her husband there. They fell in love and were married after they graduated. She is proud of her daughter attending the dorm she attended and is pleased to know her daughter is progressing well. She is impressed by the students since she picked Mentha to intern at her company. However, she isn't too impress with her daughter's classmates after meeting Chenya, but her daughter is adamant that her classmates are fine and different. Since her daughter thinks this, Mater will allow this as she is still learning to respect her daughter's space and trusts her to make the best friends.
NRC:
She doesn't think highly of the school due to the Shrouds attending there. After Idia's Overblot, she is even more disappointed by the school. She cannot imagine how a school allows for Overblots. Though, she is curious about the strange, magical energy coming from it.
