Work: Is It A Sexist Thing Or Do They Just Hate Me?
Work: Is It A Sexist Thing Or Do They Just Hate Me?
*clears throat and sips my tea*
This could've easily been a mini rant to post about on my message board but screw it! This is becoming increasingly annoying. It may not be to most people, to any of you, but my work? A HORRIBLE work place to make friends at.
If you'd been following me for quite a while, you'd know that I work at a movie theater. My job as the greeter sucks! I do and say the exact same things and it gets really mundane every shift. I asked the supervisor to put me behind the counter more often so I could learn new things and to keep myself busy with more tasks like restocking or learning how to make the hot foods.
That's not what this rant is about.
They say that working at a movie theater would be a really fun job.
I call BS.
Perhaps if you were more social, it would be. And I don't know if any of you had grown up watching Drake & Josh, but they made working at a movie theater look so much fun! Then again, I don't have an idiot stepbrother or work with a Crazy Steve.
Enough about my references about a show that a lot of you probably hadn't even seen, but here comes the point:
It's IMPOSSIBLE to make friends here. What makes it worse is that they're mostly guys. I try to talk to a few of them, but then, they return to their guy clique.
Is this a sexist thing? Or do they just genuinely hate me? The general manager is a woman. My favorite manager is also a woman. However, they're too busy in their offices taking care of business.
I just wish I worked at a place where they were more exclusive. Where there are a lot more girls there my age I could talk to and make friends with.
The worst part: I NEED this job! Because my stupid cousin just had to propose and my brother finally grew a pair and proposed to his girlfriend of (I think it was seven years when they got engaged).
I'm stuck in this isolating, sexist, lonely hole.
Help me!!!
