Mom: Mommy Says That I'm Not Allowed To

*sighs*
It's been a minute since I've published a rant. People (especially children) still irritate the hell out of me, but I thought that everything else in the world was better.
My niece could be coming any day now.
It's the holiday season (even though Christmas is over. We still have the new year to look forward to).
Nothing (and no one) could spoil my mood.
But my mother took that as a challenge.
Since the night before our flight back to my hometown for Christmas, I've been considering getting wireless earbuds. They're not as annoying when using them; they don't get in the way of the screen and they certainly don't get tangled up when you shove them in your backpack.
So I did some research, wanting to make sure that I was getting something good.
Bose-
HELLA expensive.
JBL-
ALSO very expensive
Beats-
*cha-ching*
And besides, I've read the reviews on the above. They've got raving reviews, but there were some parts that didn't get the best. Like sound quality, connection, charging ability. For the price, you'd think that they would be top-notch.
Nope!
I did some more research and found some that were firing on all cylinders. Perfect sound quality, no background noise, affordable, scored 9.8 (I believe) out of 10. I forgot to screenshot the article, but here's the picture of the earbuds / positive reviews:
I got excited thinking that I finally found a pair. But then...
I made the mistake of telling my mother.
To give you some background, this woman thinks that everything on this planet is bad for you. She thinks BREATHING is bad for you. Inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide (is that scientifically correct? I only got, like, a B in science) is the worst for your body.
She says that wireless earbuds are bad for you. They damage your hearing.
Of course you would say that.
You're old and deaf so you like to take the blame on your airpods that you only started using in your 60s.
As long as you use them properly, they should be okay.
Lower the volume
Limit your use of those (I only use those on the plane anyway. Unless I wanna watch something and hear them more)
Clean them after use
Don't share (which is common sense)
She says to not buy them because they're bad for you, they may not be good quality, they make you deaf, and that I should ask my sister about it before I buy anything.
I don't need my mommy's permission.
And I really don't need my SISTER'S permission.
I should've known better than to open my mouth to her.
I should've kept it shut and just bought them anyway.
Honestly, I'm better off not buying them at all. Every time I'd use them, she'd warn me that I'm gonna go deaf, ask if I've cleaned them after and give me a judgey look that says that I'm going to regret not listening to her. It'd be better if the wire eventually broke and you have to readjust it for the sound to get better, if it gets in my way of watching videos and they get all tangled up.
Next time I find something I really like, I'm keeping my damn mouth shut.
