Mom: Don't You Dare Do That

Mom: Don't You Dare Do That

-

This didn't bother me in the moment it happened, but as I was lying awake in the middle of the night (or early in the morning. Where I am right now is hard to tell), it came back to me and I imagined a scenario of how the conversation should've gone.

It's funny how it works.

You don't come up with what to say until the moment is already over and it's too late.

So you imagine it in your head.

Here's the situation:

So my mom, sister and I were talking to the baby. I never know what to say to a two week old. I mean, it's not like they can respond or understand what I'm saying. But I guess they can still hear your voice.

Mom suggested that I talk to her about my work. I mentioned that I hate it and that it sucks.

See, the thing about my family — at least my mom and sister — is that they think that innocent words are bad words. Including 'suck'.

*rolls eyes*

Sucks.

SUCKS!

Comment whether or not you consider that a bad word because that's a load of BS.

They started laughing about it. I defended myself and said that it's not a bad word and that it's not like I said the 'f' word. Here's what my mom said that triggered me:

"Nonnie needs to work on that too"

Too.

TOO??

Implying that we both need to work on avoiding bad words? No, no, no. Ma'am, that's all YOU. Not me. So do not include me in your little bad word speaking confession thingy.

This baby must be warned: It's nonnie who swears like a sailor. Especially during the past couple of years. And the irony is, anyone else who tries to avoid swearing by saying 'effing', 'a-hole' or obviously 'sucks', all hell will break loose on them.

I haven't said a bad word in years! At least not in public anyway. Even in private and I'm really frustrated with something, I still haven't said a bad word.

She's just trying to make me look bad in front of my newborn niece. All I said was 'sucks'. That's 100000% more innocent than the words that she have said, but nooooo. She's making it sound like I swear just as often as her.

WHICH I DON'T!

NOT NEARLY!

If my baby niece becomes one of those viral kids on instagram who are famous for their videos where they swear, we're all blaming my mother.
