Stone's Throw
I'm only a stone's throw away
And anytime you need me
You're more than welcome to come here
Just don't make me watch you walk away
Don't let me be the stone
Away from you that's thrown
'Cause I don't think I can bear it
Then I'll never be whole again
A huge hole right through me
A half death, splitting my existence
That's what I thought was true
Boy am I glad I was wrong
My presence the very proof
I thought I'd be nothing without you (nothing at all)
Now I know that's what I lost (nothing)
I learnt so very much from you
Lessons worth a lifetime
And that's how much they'll be remembered
Invaluable and irreplaceable
I learnt how and why I should be me
No changing for others, no matter who
I'm me, and I couldn't be happier
I couldn't care less what you say
All that really matters is me
What I want, what I want to do
Whom I want to be (and that's me)
I'm finally the person of my dreams
Even though I wish you'd never left
Tossing me behind like a used tissue
I'm glad you did, for I learnt to depend on myself
And I'm exactly who I want to be
Nothing less, nothing less than I deserve
Thank you for teaching me not to give all of me to anyone
I inspire me and I couldn't get any better than that
Now I'm contented as I can ever be.

I wrote this on the bus home today. I'd just finished and was getting ready to get off at my stop when this lady who was sitting next to me told me she wa reading what I'd written and was impressed by it. 😲 She asked me about my college (my id card was hanging around my neck) and if I wrote verse regularly.
I was flustered! Nevertheless, I remembered my manners and thanked her...
This put me in so much of a better mood, ya know?
So I was just thinking last Saturday after I'd complimented this girl's shoes (they were the cutest) and she'd seemed so happy, that we really ought to appreciate and compliment people. Everytime I use public transport, I make it a point to thank the driver. Just teensy little things that could make a huge impact...
Oh, and, if you can, I suggest you try to get the original version of Pentatonix's Perfume Medley. It sets the perfect tone for writing. I wrote 'Stone's Throw' whilst listening to it! 😍😘
Thank you for reading!
Oh and I might continue this or take parts for a new song I'm writing. #MorningInspiration
